Healing Your Life From the Inside Out, Breaking the Bubble of Illusion

Often when we think about healing ourselves, we first think about our emotional or mental self - then our physical body. We rush to a psychiatrist, or doctor - hoping for relief, a cure, or a fix for all of our problems... for a magical pill that will take it all a way. It is this "dis-ease" within ourselves that causes the turmoil in our outer world.

Physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually - if we are not okay with ourselves on the inside, we will manifest this into our external reality and we will probably not like the results.

The majority of us have created a bubble around us, protecting us from hurt and pain that we have experienced or from things we don't want to face. We pretend that we are happy with our life, our job, our spouse and the circumstances that surround us - when in fact, deep down we are wishing for something different.

When we are confronted about who we are, how we are, or about the problems that are clearly evident in our world - we just don't want to hear it. We get angry, we cry, we plug our ears and we say LALALALALALALA... "I can't hear you". We protect the bubble as if it is who we are, as if our safety, sanity and sanctity depends on it. There is no way we can allow anyone to burst our bubble and if for some reason they do, we feel exposed and vulnerable.

The truth is that those feelings are always there, we've just become so good at living in our bubble that they aren't noticed by us most of the time. When these feelings do "pop up" and become a problem, we sometimes attempt to cover them with alcohol or drugs - or any addiction that helps us avoid them.

The biggest problem with this type of behaviour (besides risk to our health) is that we are denying the very essence of who we are - we are suffocating ourselves with our painful experiences, instead of facing them. We refuse to let go of all the hate, anger and sadness that sits inside of us, and this is what is killing us! We need to let go of all the negativity and begin to forgive those who have hurt us - and more importantly we need to forgive ourselves.

I guess the reason I can write about this with such knowledge is because I have been living in a bubble for many years now. I have been denying who I really am at the core of my being because I wanted to protect her. It is in this protecting of myself that I have completely lost touch with that part of me, I have lost touch with the people around me and subsequently I have allowed someone else to live my life for me. I have been denying what I really want, and need because I haven't been present to get what the deepest part of my being really needs. And that is Love.

We have to learn love ourselves, completely and honestly - despite everything that we have experienced. We are worthy of love! Why am I so sure you ask? Because we are made from this Love. Some Great Force that sits in the very centre of all of us, created everything that we could ever need from an Unconditional, Unbiased Love. This Love is Ours, but we will never experience it while we are denying the very truth of who we are, while we are trapped in the very bubble that we have created in order to keep us safe.

We can not heal until we know who we truly are; and that is the person that is past all of the pain, experiences, labels and ideas of who we are that are limiting to our being. It's time to burst the Bubble of Illusion and heal our lives!

The most important thing to remember, in all of this, is that the world is your mirror - you must begin to heal your true self before you will see a change in the external world around you; this includes any physical, mental or emotional problems you are experiencing.

To begin healing, you will need to know where to start. Healing the Self is more than a way of healing, it is an incredible journey of self-exploration and discovery! Revitalize Your Energy for Fall

As we go into the Fall season, so much about Nature begins to slow down after the hectic Summer months. As the days get shorter, our bodies want to revert to our natural inclination which is to prepare for Winter and Winter's hibernation time. Because of this, it's possible for our energy levels to begin to drop.

But we, unlike Nature's animal kingdom, have our busy lives and it's necessary for us to keep up our energy and vitality at the highest and best levels possible.

Here are a few tips to help you accomplish this:

1 - Turn on more lights - Whether at home or at the office, turn on more lights. This helps ward off the natural sleepiness that darkness brings. Also, if you have access to and can use light bulbs which give off a natural light spectrum, these are most helpful. If you are prone to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), this type of light bulb is most important for you to counteract your condition.

2 - Go outside and breathe deeply - The cooler, dryer air of Fall can be stimulating. Breathe it in deeply to invigorate yourself and to clear out your lungs and other toxins from your body.

3 - Stick to a healthy diet - We are fast approaching the holiday season with all its candies and rich foods. By eating healthy now, you can enjoy a few more indulgences later. Also you will help avoid many illnesses that start going around this time of year. And don't forget to drink plenty of water and take your vitamins and supplements.

4 - Stick to you are exercise regimen - Exercise gets your metabolism fired up and contributes to improving your overall health, immune system and stamina.

5 - Get plenty of rest - Even though you want to be energetic, you also need to balance with good, restful sleep to maintain your body's equilibrium. One without the other can cause health issues.

6 - Make plenty of R and R time for you and your family - Get out and enjoy the benefits of the season; attend a Fall Festival or carnival, take walks and enjoy the colors that Nature provides this time of year. These add happiness and joy to your life to lift your spirits and your energy.

7 - Open up the windows - Our homes need to breathe too. Open up and let the air in to clear out all the old energy, mustiness, smells, etc.

8 - Meditate and bring the energy in - During your daily meditations, see yourself pulling in bright, energetic light; see it replenishing your natural batteries. Spiritual energy is just as important as physical energy, so welcome it in daily.

By using these tips, you will have an energy filled, joyful, and productive Fall season.

Erasing Joint Pain: Energy Clearing

Wouldn't it be nice if you could take an eraser and rub out your pain?

Like a pencil mark on a paper, pain is very noticeable. But once you erase that mark, you can forget about it completely. It no longer grabs your attention. And when a pain goes away, we easily forget it was ever there.

But how can you erase a pain?

One way, which is probably the most popular one, is to mask the pain with drugs. But that does not really solve the problem.

Another, which is our subject here, is to remove the cause of the pain and then the pain must vanish.

The Cause of Joint Pain

In order to remove the cause of the pain, you must know the cause of the pain. And this is where it gets interesting!

You may think of the cause of your joint pain as an athletic injury or the repeated stress and microtrauma of sitting at a computer or standing for long hours. You may say you cannot undo the injury and you cannot go back and undo all your years of typing or working on your job. And you can't even stop now or you would lose your job. So how can you remove the cause of the pain?

The Hidden Cause

While you may not be able to stop or reverse the mechanical cause of your pain, there is another approach that can help. There is another cause of pain which usually goes undetected and unaddressed. It is a more subtle cause and so it requires a more subtle technique. But the results are often as dramatic as taking a painkiller.

This hidden cause of much of your pain is conflicted energy. Like static on a radio or a virus on a computer, energy conflict within a system causes that system to fail. It simply cannot function properly. But once you tune in that radio station or clean up those computer files, everything can go back to optimal functioning.

A Viable Alternative

There are many energy workers using a variety of techniques that can help you with your joint pain. They can open the way for true healing in your joints. Find someone who inspires confidence. You will probably do best when you work with someone with whom you resonate well. Once the dynamic life force flows through you in an unconflicted way, you may very well notice an instant diminishment of your pain. In time it can completely disappear. For some, this process is very fast. For others it can take an extended period of time.

Erasing the Pain

The joints of the body create the most exquisite movements of human expression. But when they hurt they can cause some of the most excruciating moments in your life.

When you seek out an energy worker to help you with your joints, you are not masking the pain. You are erasing the pain by correcting the cause. And when you're dancing again, you probably won't even remember the pain at all.

You can experience an energy clearing session first hand. Will it work for you? You now have an opportunity to find out. Pros and Cons of Corporate Wellness Plans

It is important to consider both the pros and cons of corporate wellness plans. While employee health and wellness is certainly a goal worth striving towards, business owners should always consider the costs and consequences of such an endeavor. If poorly executed, workplace health programs may become an unnecessary company expense. Additionally, employees may feel singled out if emphasis is only placed on a certain areas of employee health-such as weight loss or smoking. However, the benefits of corporate wellness plans are also worth considering. An effective wellness plan may result in higher employee performance and production levels. As well, a significant reduction in company health care costs, make corporate wellness plans a valuable financial option. Carefully considering the benefits and limitations of workplace health programs will allow business owners to choose corporate wellness plans that work best for their company.

The advantages of using corporate wellness plans are many. Promoting the overall well being of one's employees sends a message that the company is truly looking out for each worker's best interests. Good employee health not only lowers a company's health care costs, but also endorses individual employee health and wellness. When each worker is able to perform at his or her highest levels, increases in employee performance and production result. This profits the company both corporately and individually. As well, workplace health programs build a sense of community and support structure for long-term health and wellness. For example if a weight-loss program or running group is started, the employees who join the programs will find themselves surrounded by fellow workers who share the same passions. This sense of community and support system often lasts much longer than the program itself, resulting in long-term employee wellness.

It is also critical to evaluate the negatives associated with corporate wellness plans. Many employers do not consider the costs or consequences of implementing certain programs. Financial planning is crucial to implementing successful workplace health programs. While health care costs will be reduced in the long run, initial start-up costs must be considered. Whether hiring wellness experts, nutritionists, or building an on-site gym, start-up expenses must be accounted for. A carefully crafted financial plan that keeps the company's best interests in mind is critical to the success of every corporate wellness plan. Business owners must ask themselves if a gym is truly necessary or consider how his or her employee's would respond to a weight loss program. A keen understanding of how one's company functions will save business owners who are considering implementing corporate wellness plans, from expending unnecessary funds.

Employers should consider not using funds from their employee's paychecks to pay for the implementation of corporate wellness plans. Most workers already allocate a significant amount of their paycheck towards health care and insurance. Employees may resist workplace health programs that cause them to give up more of their finances. In this case, an employer should consider inexpensive means by which the company can implement wellness goals-such as a weight loss program with a gift card to a popular store as the prize. Another con to consider is that some employees may feel that a corporate wellness program has been specifically targeted at them-especially in the cases of weight loss or smoking. The poor health effects of these conditions are well-known, and often cause pain or embarrassment to employees who struggle with overcoming them to live a healthier lifestyle. Knowing one's company again in this instance, is essential. While some offices may find great success with competitive wellness programs, others may benefit more from an educational health approach. Hiring a wellness expert to offer additional solutions may reduce negative outcomes associated with workplace health programs.

How to Protect Yourself From Unknown Dangers

Even though today our world gives more importance to science, believing that it is the only discipline that can really show us the truth about our reality, the importance of art, religion, and philosophy cannot be disregarded if we want to have a global vision of our reality.

The divine unconscious mind shows you in your dreams the future development of your reality, so that you may understand how to achieve your goals based on the truth, and not based on your imagination. You learn how to be a serious scientist and a devoted artist who keeps looking for perfection in your work.

You stop being a narrow-minded and one-sided creature who makes many mistakes without understanding the meaning of your actions. After having a global vision of your reality you'll understand how to behave in order to achieve success in life.

You'll become sensitive. You'll pay attention to all the details that compose your reality.

Your dreams will help you understand why you behave the way you do, and how you can always control your behavior in all circumstances, even if you'll be exposed to many dangers and face very difficult situations. Your dreams will also help you avoid all dangers. The divine unconscious mind is your natural protector.

Your dreams will show you unknown dangers that you cannot see, and ways to protect yourself that you cannot find alone. Your dreams will give you many explanations about all matters.

You'll verify that your reality is complex and you must always try to have a global vision about your reality, and never concentrate your attention only on the interesting points for you. This global vision will help you understand the real importance of your actions.

You will find protection from all dangers if you'll be a good student and patient and obey the divine guidance in dreams. The unconscious mind helps you become a prudent person. You learn how to prepare the necessary conditions for your permanent protection from all dangers.

You'll verify that everything that happens to you depends on your attitude. This means that your wise attitude always protects you from outside dangers. The outside dangers cannot cause you any damage if you know how to protect yourself from what is bad.

The unconscious mind gives you clear lessons in dreams. You only have to be an obedient student and patient in order to triumph over life's challenges. You'll acquire sound mental health that lasts forever and attain spiritual perfection.

Why Love Could Be The Clue Behind Your Desires

I've been a law of attraction believer for many years. I remember hearing about, 'The Secret' for the first time in 2006. I had just received an inheritance, and was subscribed to all sorts of making money and improving your life-type magazines and newsletters. I remember one morning, receiving a newsletter that introduced, 'The Secret'.

Now, at the time, I brought, 'The Secret', loved its content, and began to try to implement its principles. The whole concept of the images in your mind manifesting, and that I, ultimately, had the power to act like the divine in creating whatever reality I chose, was an idea that wouldn't let go!

So I tried visualizing while, 'feeling' my goal to come true. I would visualize quickly about seeing someone that I had fancied at work, and lo and behold, I would get to speak to her in a few hours time. But something was missing. I didn't like my job and wanted to leave, yet I was still stuck in this whole reality that I desperately wanted to change.

Fast forward 7 years later, and things, physically at the very least, hadn't changed. What went wrong? Is the law of attraction a complete hoax, or is there something to it.

Well, it took several out of body experiences for me to realize where I was going wrong. I became curious about the art of astral projection back in 2008. I say art 'loosely', for in truth, everybody has them every night. It's an art to do it consciously, as the temptation is to become emotional about the experience.

But, lets backtrack here, what exactly is astral projection, and how does it differ to an out-of-body experience, and lucid dreaming?

Well, to be honest with you, out-of-body experiences and astral projecting is the same thing. The term astral projection is the more socially accepted idea, where as an out-of-body experience (obe) is more accurate. Both of them are essentially the same thing, which is the act, of the truer part of your conscious, or your sub-conscious, to leave you body and go, 'inward'.

Now, that sounds like a contradiction in terms. How can you leave the body, and go, 'inward'? Surely you go outward, right?

Wrong!

Everything you see about you is the outer epidermis of the multiverse (defined like that as there is more than one universe within itself, like peals of an onion) Therefore, if your body is the furthest point on the universe scale, when you leave your body, by very nature you are going within. Don't forget the Big Bang. It shrunk before exploding!

When you leave the body, you are very aware of your environment. This isn't a dream, this is definitely real. And you thoughts manifest. Almost instantly. You become aware that thoughts are manifesting through you rather than at you. Lucid dreaming is like an obe, but you are simply not fully aware of your situation. It's like a more clearer form of a dream. You're still dreaming, but the world is just a little bit more clearer. Manifestation is also a bit more hit and miss.

You see, it took a few experiences to realise that thoughts do manifest, the only difference being is that in the obe, you are travelling within the inner dimensions of the multiverse, and therefore time is no longer there. Therefore, everything manifests almost instantly! So you do have to watch what you think about!

The only reason thoughts take longer to manifest in the physical world, is because of the element of time. But this is where the, 'now' comes into its own. In truth, there is no such thing as time. Time exists only in our imagination. Take away time, and be in the present moment, as in truth, 'now' is all there is. Manifestation happens a lot quicker then!

So, fast forward to 2012, with all these experiences, and I began to see why my life was initially wrong. I began to practice being in the present moment and tried to turn this into a daily habit.

But something was missing! I was more at peace, and was slowly enjoying life more, but my desires were still not completely manifesting. I knew I was still missing something.

I came across a concept about acting from love. I knew from my spiritual teaching that all there was was love. Love was your soul, and was the language of the multiverse. When I had listened to interviews from successful people, they had always maintained that you needed to act with love or joy to become successful. As your soul is unconditional love, and when you meditate, you feel that (that is why meditation is so nice) and that feeling of love is also infinite intelligence (as infinite intelligence is all around... some scientists have already said that there is an intelligence behind what you are seeing with the naked eye) it made sense that if you act from love, you are in a sense, 'allowing' your desires to manifest.

How to Approach an Energy Clearing (or Energy Healing) Session

We all sat in that classroom as little kids.

We learned that "energy cannot be created or destroyed." We also learned that it can change its form of expression. This is a lesson we can call upon now and use it every day of our lives as we consider energy and healing. Of course, in that science classroom, they talked to us about light and heat, etc. We are going to apply this principle in a way that transforms pain into joy, misery into ecstasy, and anger into love.

Recycling Energy

If you've ever had a garden, you might have found that the energy of the previous year's waste could be turned into the next year's nourishment through a method of composting. And recycling in general has become a major part of our culture and a household word.

As you ponder these methods of taking things that are old and unwanted, and putting them through a process of transformation to bring forward something helpful, useful, and advantageous, you begin to see into the power of the energy clearing session. This is what those who are called "energy healers" facilitate.

The Value Hidden Within Pain

Every pain, misfortune, or mode of suffering, represents a field of conflicted energy. When that field is harmonized, when it is restored to its original state of clear energy, the power locked within the conflict is released and becomes available. That energy can then nourish the soul and move you forward toward the desires of your heart. You may experience this as a feeling of lightness, happiness, inspiration, or a burst of creativity. These are the markings of a spiritual healing.

The Past Lives Within the Now

Energy patterns can trace immeasurably back in time. You can see them running through distant events of your personal history, woven though your ancestral lines, and echoed in the remnants of past lives. Whether or not you believe that you have had past incarnations matters little because it is your current vibration that is being cleared. You may hear this described differently in the context of different energy healing techniques, and that is why it is helpful to understand that the past lives within the now. And this is where it must be harmonized in order to free your now and roll out the red carpet for your future (which also lives in your now).

Pains Gone, Relationships Restored, Happiness Flowing

Regardless of the reason you seek energy clearing, whether it is a body issue, a financial worry, a painful relationship, or anything else, it is best to come to the session with a willingness to let go of your problem and to allow it be transformed into something wonderful. With this spirit of openness, and an honoring of your essence, the energy clearing session can amaze you with the power of its results.

You can experience an energy clearing session first hand at no charge. Bring one issue to the call. It can be about your body, emotions, relationships, finances, or anything else that is causing you pain. Be prepared to let it go and have it transformed into something wonderful in your life. Varieties of Crystal Experience

Quartz crystals are found all around the world. Like snowflakes, each one is unique, but unlike snowflakes they vary widely in size and color too. The country of origin can sometimes tell us about what to expect and there are categories, based on size, shape and color to help identify a particular type of crystal as well.

The most common natural shapes are;

Clusters.

Clusters are formations of crystals usually merged together at the base and showing more individual definition arising from there.

Single Terminal

Single terminal are crystals with only one side ending in a naturally occurring faceted point.

Double Terminated

As you would expect these crystals have both ends that are naturally occurring faceted points.

Geode

A geode is a rock formation in which crystals formed freely in an opening in surrounding rock and now line the cavity.

Those are some of the natural forms that come out of the Earth. For centuries artisans and sculptures, jewelers and gemstone cutters have used those as raw materials to create beautiful pieces for us to wear as jewelry or attractive objects for us to admire.

While the different categories of shapes and formations have different effects on our eye and on our vibration, the literature on the healing and metaphysical qualities of the different types and colors of stones is fairly extensive. What follows is a short list of some of those types and their subtle characteristics.

Clear quartz is colorless and transparent and is associated with white light. Just as white light contains all the colors, so too is clear quartz a universal healer.

Snow quartz is milky and white and very common. It supports growth and cooperation.

Rose quartz can range from a very pale pink to almost red. This type of stone has a peaceful energy and is said to be able to bring love and deep healing.

Smokey quartz is found in various shades of gray and has a grounding quality that can neutralize negative energy.

Citrine is yellow in appearance. It is a crystal that is said to stimulate life energy and bring abundance.

Amethyst appears in varying purple hues and is said to help break through blocks and help overcome addictive behaviors.

There are many books about the healing powers of crystals and much more information is available if you are curious about this aspect. There are also many other types of quartz crystals in endless variety of shapes and sizes.

Engineers and material scientists also work with quartz crystal, usually synthetically grown to precise specifications. Electronics professionals use this high-tech quartz to help create the magic of today's digital technology.

So you already are carrying around a crystal in your cell phone and decorating your home with one in your laptop. These crystals are very small and very young and out of sight. I invite you to consider adding some larger crystals to your portfolio. Ones that were formed by nature over a million years ago! Their beauty and magic will enhance your world...

Most of the people, when start this practice, realize that sitting on the floor is not for them. Therefore, the growing market has provided them with different meditation items like back jack chair or meditation bench to better suit their needs. These items provide a relaxed and pain free meditation sessions, which are not possible during direct sitting on the floor.

The basic requirement of meditation is being comfortable and focused on what you do. Most of the individuals just struggle to hold the correct posture, but fail to do so. Back jack chair, designed for meditation, helps in making good posture with comfortable back support.

During the initial practice of meditation, a sitting device can prove as an effective way to enhance your concentration. These sitting devices can be different types of chairs like meditation benches, tilt chairs or inflatable cushions. These devices become more important, when you are practicing Zen meditation. This type of practice requires different sitting postures. The chairs and benches designed for meditation are made up of numerous material and exhibit varied styles.

With a meditation bench, you can sit in perfect alignment. This does not cause unnecessary pressure on your back. To keep yourself in an upright position, a tilt chair is quite helpful. Several options like folding benches, back jack chair, inflatable cushions, etc. allows you to meditate in any environment and settings. Some chairs are even portable so that you do not miss on your meditation, while you are on the go.

When you go to buy a meditation chair for you, it is advisable to take an experienced person along you. The perfect meditation chair has a slight forward angle to prevent you from slumping. It would be best to buy a chair in which height, weight and comfort level can be adjusted according to your needs. This is important to ensure mind consciousness and achieve clarity of mind. Sitting without meditation chairs causes cramping and distress after a certain period of time.

The main motto of meditation lies in self discovery and inner peace. Physical discomfort takes us away from the wellness and monastic benefits we hope with this practice. Thus, meditation bench and chairs provide a positive experience during your sessions.

Meditation Explained for Beginners

Meditation made simple.

First of all, yes, it is a practice, which means you keep at it. You do a little each day and each day a little more, just up to your comfort zone. Maybe each week, do a little beyond your comfort zone. Build up slowly. The Sanskrit name for meditation is "bhavana" and the Tibetan word for it is "gom", both mean, "to get used to something". As with anything you "get used to", the more you do it, the better you get at it.

Let's say, as a child you had tendencies to be shy. Each time you had the opportunity to converse or make friends with someone, most of the time you didn't. This gets easier and easier for you to do. Then you started telling yourself and others "Oh, I am shy.", "Oh, that is not me". This is what you rehearsed. This became a "bhavana". By the time you are 60 years old you are now this shy old man or lady. Or perhaps you had a quick temper. Unchecked, it became easier and easier and you felt validated. Sooner or later, you become a grumpy old person. Or perhaps you practiced kindness and loving-thoughts. Each time you received good news about someone, you tried to conjure up happy feelings for this person instead of feeling jealous. Each time someone asked for help, you did not get irritated but thought about what a great opportunity this was to help someone else. It will become easier and easier for you to do this. This is becomes your "bhavana". This becomes your meditation.

We are not inherently one thing or another. We are not absolutely one way or another. The potential of the mind is vast. Your inner potential is limitless.

How to Develop Your Meditation Practice.

Don't expect to transform magically into a peaceful Buddha-like god or goddess in one sitting. And above all, don't give up.

If someone said to you "Oh, you know, running one mile a day is really good for your heart and lungs." And you decide to run a mile the next day. Let's say you don't do any regular exercise and you don't really go to the gym. You would probably be so put-off running. You could even probably say "Running doesn't work", "It doesn't do you any good", "It's impossible to do". You would dismiss what this person said to you and move on.

Most people I meet who come to learn meditation with me tell me they have tried meditation before or they have tried it years ago. Meditation is not a one-shot deal.

Perfection of Effort

Many have read or learned enough about meditation to begin a meditation practice. Then they say to me. They have no time. Well, you have time to brush your teeth in the morning before you go to work. And you have time to eat lunch. Nothing stops you from taking a shower each evening. You view these as essential. You were trained from nursery school that these things you must do. But you were not trained to take time for yourself to relax your mind and release your thoughts, nor were you taught that it is essential. So begin, or end each meditation session by going through all the benefits of meditation in your mind both those benefits that you understand and already experience and those that are still not within the scope of your practice. Rehearse them, again and again, in your mind.

Begin the Meditation.

After learning, reading, best of all receiving the guidance of a qualified guru, begin your practice. Sit at ease and watch the thoughts in your mind. Relax and release the thoughts one by one. As a thought comes, do not give it any judgement, analysis or any energy. As thoughts come, simply watch them and allow them to dissolve back from which they arose. Know that you don't have to be involved with these thoughts right now.

Slowly your thoughts will lose their tight grip over you. You achieve a loosening and relaxing but with a very aware and alert mind. Peacefulness ensues. Remain in this platform of peacefulness as long as you can.

Once you achieve stability in the meditation you are able to hold this place of calm, then you can use this as a platform from which to analyze the thoughts. The only analysis you need is whether a thought is harmful or beneficial.

Meditation Continues After Sitting.

From this awareness of thoughts, you are now in a better position to act on the world around you and the people around you. You no longer simply react mindlessly, habitually, to what is happening inside you and around you. You no longer need to be pushed and pulled by thoughts and emotions. You live with much more control and awareness, shaping your future by how you act with full mindfulness.

When Things Go Crazy.

Then again you will get caught up with things and busyness. Put due diligence into your meditation practice. Use the session the center yourself again. Slowly meditation sessions and life in between will feel less fragmented. It might feel more fragmented before it feels more in harmony. Keep learning and keep practicing and keep at it until you reach your highest potential.

Coping With Stress In The Feeble Pursuit Of Happiness

You will never live a perfectly happy life. There are always unfulfilled dreams, wishes, and promises. There are many times of frustrations. There are tensions. We suffer from the torment of living an insufficient life; there is no completion in this life. This isn't to bring you down - au contraire! Read onward my friend.

Yes, we all want to be happy. We do ridiculous things we believe will make us happy. We spend sums of money, we go into debt, we take pills, we tell lies, we avoid people, we break the law... we do undefinable acts, believe illogical ideas, follow irrational people just so we can have a few moments of happiness. Then we repeat the unrepeatable!

But you are pursuing the weak emotion of happiness because you have never-ending streams of stress, called life, interfering with your pursuit.

So how can you be happy?

This is the second question to ask. Your first question to ask yourself is: "Is my life meaningful?" Yes, is there meaning in your life? Is there meaning in your job or occupation? Is there meaning in your marriage? Is there meaning in your relationships with your family and friends? Do you find meaning in an ordinary day on planet earth?

True, you may find happiness sprinkled throughout your days but you will mostly focus on your stresses if you don't pursue your meaning and what's really meaningful to you.

When you define what is meaningful the attraction to pursue happiness becomes less significant. I will go so far to say that when you pursue meaning, happiness may be unimportant.

If your life stresses are overwhelming they will become the major reasons you are trying to pursue happiness just so you can avoid them.

We often fantasize what it would take for us to be happy. We want to live in a bubble so we would be free from pressures, tiredness, physical pain, relationship problems, financial worry, bad jobs, and bad people.

Pursuing happiness suggests that one day you will have everything perfect and that you will be content; perfect health, the perfect spouse, completely fulfilled relationships, the perfect job, no anxiety, no disappointments, and all the money and time to enjoy the good life. But this will never happen. Happiness won't stay very long when any of these things happen.

You may not be able to cope with much of your stresses now because you are approaching this entire idea from a self-destructive angle. In fact, you may be focusing on the most destructive recipe of avoiding stress and attempting to pursue happiness. This is insanity!

Do this. Separate the two: stress and meaning. Forget about happiness, it will come as a result of defining stress and meaning. I mean it; stop trying to pursue happiness.

First, stress. Where is it in your life? This should be easy. Stress comes from several major sources: physical, nutritional, and emotional. There are minor stresses like gravity, thermal, electromagnetic, but let's talk about these some other time.

Determine from these three where the majority of stress is coming from. Really define the specifics about it as if you were telling a friend that is a little hard of hearing and not too bright. Explain it so well that anyone can understand your stress and what you're going through.

Next, meaning. What is your meaning in this area of stress in your life? Is it what it should or could be? I bet your meaning is a little deflated in this area. I could be wrong about you but I bet I'm pretty close to target.

Here's what I mean. Take a stress like a relationship going bad with your parent. Is this reasonable enough? Let's say your mom stresses you out. You would just like to be happy, of course but she makes you feel unhappy (worthless, childlike, abandoned... ). In attempt to be happy, you pursue things that take you away from her and toward other pleasantries (it doesn't matter what they are, well, it does matter but not for my illustration).

Instead I want you to focus your attention to the meaning of your relationship you have with your mother (or whatever example of stress you are using). How clearly defined is your meaning here? Is the meaning of your relationship with her to make yourself happy or is it something else, something deeper, richer, or interdependent?

If your meaning is weak your happiness will be weak. If your meaning is strong, your happiness won't matter. You are not pursuing happiness in this case (or for any other stress in your life) you are pursuing meaning which will far outlast happiness.

Get clear on your meaning in each area of stress in your life. You can better cope with stress by first defining it and then attaching a stronger meaning to it, a meaning that makes you happy.

Meaning is true happiness. A life that is pursued for meaning will sustain happiness. What is meaningful in your life? What area of your life are you striving to find meaning in?

Find meaning in life. Your stresses will begin to dissolve and your happiness will fill the void.

Detrimental Effects of Stress, How Does Stress Affect Physical Health?

Stress is often an overused term, but for good reason. The body's response to perceived stressors can be life altering. For those who do not have a strong system to manage those responses, stress can rule behavior. It sets up a situation where one chooses the path of least resistance as a way of coping.

Many people lead unhealthy lives, although they consciously know and understand the choices that would be more beneficial and healthy. Much of this irony is due to having a poorly managed stress response. When under stress, and faced with the heightened anxiety it brings, people will not choose to do things they deem unpleasant, uncomfortable or challenging. Familiar behaviors are easier to fall back on than trying to implement a new way of doing things. Healthy living choices become, just another "thing" to do, on an all ready overfull list.

Sadly, this kind of poor stress management, fuels the obesity epidemic. The hectic pace at which people choose to live, combined with poor to no stress management techniques, can bring on a "just keeping my head above the water," mentality. When barely staying afloat psychologically, who wants to weigh themselves down with new challenging tasks? The answer is no one. Even smart, otherwise perceptive, individuals can fall victim to this insidious problem.

What a person perceives as stressful and how they respond to that, "stress" is very individual. There is a genetic, environmental, and personality component that creates ones stress response. This can be altered by implementing behavioral techniques designed to help you recognize and neutralize your common stress triggers.

Today, feeling overloaded, anxious and disconnected are common side effects of fast-paced living, but they do not have to be. Small alterations in how you choose to respond in trigger situations can reduce, if not eliminate those nagging feelings that send many people to the doctor in search of "what's wrong with me?"

The answer found at many doctor visits is the dreaded, "Perhaps you are under too much stress." To which most will say, "That's impossible, I am doing just fine." The problem is that while someone may be managing physically, he or she may be faltering psychologically. This type of "system overload" manifests itself in physical symptoms. It is the body's way of saying, slow down and take better care of me! However, few listen. Instead, they seek medication to allow them to keep going at breakneck speed, while being able to ignore their body's pleas for slowing down.

Not addressing the root cause of these symptoms is simply putting a Band Aid on a gaping wound. It will never heal until you address what is causing the psychological overload in the first place. In most cases, it is the lack of ability to properly predict and handle the stress response. Stress begins with a thought or event that creates an emotional response. This triggers a physiological reaction that begins the fight or flight response. Understanding this process can lead to predictability, and predictability is at the heart of learning to reduce your emotional response to stressors.

Developing awareness during anxious moments and times that you grow irritated, upset, or impatient is important. Observing what happens, without passing judgment, can help to shift your perspective. During those instances, begin to ask yourself, "How did I get here?"

Immediately recognizing and acknowledging the source of your upset (the trigger) activates the thinking part of the brain (the prefrontal cortex), which to this point has only been reacting (a hindbrain function). This simple step allows you to look at the situation from a renewed perspective.

You can then insert mindfulness techniques as you slow your breathing. When you purposefully slow your breathing, and become mindful of your body, your heart rate will naturally begin to return to normal as well. Start by doing a quick body check, a simple awareness exercise, starting at your toes, and working your way up to the neck and shoulders. Bring awareness into each area; feel your toes in your shoes, flex and relax. Then move up to your calves, and so on.

Relax your shoulders and release the tension in your neck as you take a full deep breath, in through your nose and out through your mouth. This type of exercise will interrupt the stress cycle that has begun in the body. It is a type of mental and physical conditioning designed to help establish a more balanced response to similar situations.

When stable, you are much more likely to do the healthy behaviors that you know would be good for you. Recognizing, acknowledging, and altering behavior on a regular basis, can rewire your mental pathways creating a new default pattern. It can help you cultivate more peace of mind and will make living the healthy lifestyle you have been thinking about, not only more obtainable, but also more sustainable.

Life of Possibility Vs Life of Limitation

It is Monday and I am sitting by the water, typing and listening to the waves rolling onto the rocky shore, while taking in the fresh air. I'm sitting on a book by Dr. Peter Levine - In An Unspoken Voice, so my butt doesn't get sore sitting on the rocks. My dog is sniffing in the trees, looking for something either to chase or eat, or um... both.

This is my Monday! My Mondays didn't always look like this, but they are more and more reflecting the nurture and luscious living I have craved for years.

I just finished reading a section from Peter's book that fits well with what I am experiencing...

"When [Einstein] was asked what he thought would be the next great breakthrough in science, Einstein pondered for a moment and then replied: "To prove that the universe is friendly." He did not mean, I believe, that there would not ever be pain and suffering in life, but that the universe was, well... Playful, wonderful and fascinating. " ~ Dr. Peter Levine, In An Unspoken Voice, 2010, pg. 280.

I shared with someone the other day that money is here to support and nourish us, like food and water it is our ally, not our enemy. He was uncomfortable with that point of view ~ because to him, money was to be controlled, managed and taken seriously. He had linked money to his survival, creating a very deep powerless feeling inside of him. Which he compensated for by controlling, and in doing so he was always at the mercy of money. It was either his savior or his jailer. He gave the illusion of money is power.

What area(s) of life are you giving your potency and your inborn intelligence away to? The same intelligence that goes into pumping your heart is what it going into creating your limitations. Would you be willing to re-integrate, re-own what is rightly yours ~ your aliveness?

I just pulled Peter's book from under my bum and saw another quote that is useful here:

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson.

When we take a breathe and engage ourselves at a sensation level, we create resilience and awareness and begin the re-integration process.

But the degree to which we cannot deeply feel our body's interior is the degree to which we crave external stimulation. Addictions to drama, food, spiritual override, suffering, excess video games, over-spending, over-working, chronic negativity, intellectualization, mental rumination, relationship and exercise addictions, fixating on our limitations, etc. keeps us over stimulated and thus separate from the sacredness of the body and higher mind. If we continue to suppress, control or numb our bodies, it is going to be very difficult to feel our aliveness and as such become difficult, if not impossible, to break free of our limitations and create a life that honours.

The less the body is experienced as a living entity, the more it becomes an object. The less it is owned, the further it is divorced from anything having to do with one's core sense of self." Dr. Peter Levine, In An Unspoken Voice, 2010, Pg. 285.

If you are overwhelmed by addressing your areas of limitation, lovingly start by cleaning up your addictions. Everything is birthed from this place. Do not think that by breaking free of your addictions and feeling into what-is, that that is all you are doing. You are beginning the process of reclaiming your life and asserting your value. It is an act of Self Love like no other. Welcome it and encourage it.

Ensuing Challenges to Epilepsy

Health challenges

One thing most all individuals have total control over (except when moms and dads decided for us) is the time we close our eyes and go to sleep. So everyone more or less takes for granted the control of their consciousness and everyone has likely experienced times when they lost their consciousness, due to accidental falls, drinking too much, staying up too late...

So, one is to normally choose the time and "surroundings" of their sleep; bed, pajamas, covers, blankets, etc, etc, and "schedules" their loss of consciousness, each night.

However, the disabling disorder of epilepsy; tonic-clonic, complex partial, petit mal seizures, abruptly takes away one's control of that highly valued personal treasure.

Witnessing someone having a seizure and losing control of their consciousness terrifies and shocks everyone. This helps explain why nobody ever wants to deal with it - but the fact is, one could easily understand and alter their responses if they simply scan the many websites about epilepsy.

I remember, ironically, parts of what happened after the first one; I awoke, at age 10, lying down on something different. It was dark and I couldn't see anything around me. Then I saw a light shining through a crack in the darkness. I pondered if I was on my way to seeing what heaven was like. A few minutes later, my senses began coming back to me. I soon realized I was lying on a different bed than mine. Before long I was looking up at a ceiling I had never seen. A couple of minutes later I began realizing that the light I was looking at was coming into the room through a doorway. But even so, at that time I hadn't heard anything. About 20 minutes later, during which time I had just kept staring up at the ceiling, I heard a sound, turned my head, and saw a nurse coming into the room. Then, of course, I realized I wasn't in heaven, But in a hospital. As the nurse was taking my temperature and checking my pulse, she didn't even look or speak to me. After she left, a little while later a doctor came in. I don't remember everything he said, but I do remember him giving me a prescription and then firmly telling me that I'd best be sure to take my medicine, and to behave myself according to the rules he had given my father. If I didn't, I could have another seizure, and if so, I would likely swallow my tongue and choke to death! This myth is still present today!

By the time I was in my senior year in high school my seizures were, gratefully, well- controlled. I didn't feel as if I had epilepsy.

But in my late 20s they started flaring up; either severe tonic-clonic, complex-partial, simplex-partial or status epilepticus and by my mid-30s would become intractable.

Over those years, my doctors were trying all possible combinations of medication for me, but were unable to find one that successfully controlled my seizures. My next step was voluntarily taking part in two separate clinical drug trial studies. But neither one worked.

My neurologists then informed me that my options were to either keep suffering those intractable seizures, or choose brain surgery to possibly control the seizures. Brain surgery? Good grief! I immediately had all kinds of panicky thoughts and terrors whirling around: becoming a zombie, turning into an airhead... I remained thunderstruck, even while trying not to think about it. I couldn't accept the fact that there were only two choices left; have surgery or wait to keep trying new medications still in the developmental stage. It was a very difficult decision, believe me. I was frantic with fear and anxiety. I was so unsure, I couldn't really even conceive what to expect during and after the surgery. And, of course, the uncertainty of not knowing how well I would function afterwards continued to race through my head. My wife Angela had watched me agonize for days about the decision to have brain surgery or not, so she called me over and asked me to count up the times seizures had come close to killing me. Well, I had never looked at that aspect before. I reminisced and started counting out loud all the times I had nearly died due to the seizures, and she helped remind me of some - it was 28 times!

I decide right then that it would be a higher risk for me not to have brain surgery.

I was, of course, quite apprehensive when I checked into the hospital's epilepsy-monitoring unit on the evening before the first of my four surgeries. I couldn't relax. My mind was a whirling inferno of all kinds of fears: I may turn into an airhead, my lovely wife will leave me, I will never get to know my little daughter, I will lose my voice, I'll be shunned by everyone,... But as I was being taken into the pre-operative room, I suddenly became resigned and relaxed, having faith in God that things would turn out all right.

After the 84 wire grid was implanted on the left temporal lobe inside my head, I was taken off my medicines in order to induce seizures so that my surgeons could better see and locate the whereabouts of the epilepsy in my brain. It was pretty uncomfortable to lie in that small bed for that many days. This was especially true because I couldn't rest my head on either side. For wire attachment security, those bandages around my head were wound quite heavily. And, as I'm sure everybody knows, the food was not very appetizing.

In the late afternoon of the 13th day I did finally have seizures. A few hours after the last one the doctors came in and suggested the partial removal of the left temporal lobe of my brain suspected of causing the seizures.

The next day surgeons soon took me in for the procedure of the second surgery to remove the electrodes, along with the partial removal of the left temporal lobe of my brain suspected of causing the seizures.

I awoke, sluggish, a few hours after the second 12-hour surgery. I soon realized where I was and why I was in the hospital bed and that I would be leaving there soon and going back home. I was very excited and at the same time relieved, knowing I was "thinking" the same as before.

Over the next year Angie, I, doctors, - everyone - was watching the results of the surgery to see if it better controlled, or slowed down, the seizures. However, the seizures continued to occur.

At first I was dismayed and exasperated. Why haven't they been eliminated? Why do they keep happening? Will I have seizures the rest of my life... ? But I stayed positive and did not let any of it discourage me. I simply accepted the fact that the surgery didn't stop the seizures and reiterated to myself that tomorrow is a new day and things can change for the better.

I had my second set in November of 1994. That was the last thing I'd sought - but I had no other choice - it was imperative that my seizures be controlled.

Talk about tense! No, I was not looking forward to being in the operating room two more times.

The final surgery was quite harsh. It has taken many, many years for my brain to regroup not only its remaining memories, but also to reestablish my basic fathoming of reality. In actuality it took about 8 years, before I stopped coming across to everyone as somewhat of an airhead.

While my brain was regrouping its thought "process", I couldn't interact with anyone. Came across as being laconic or stoic to many people. That behavior of course had everyone labeling me as "flakey" or "off".

One thing I've told others was that after the surgeries I could remember the numbers one to ten but they just weren't in that order. More like five, one, nine, three... It took quite a few years to get those numbers back in order. I re-learned the expected picture of reality during those first few years through all possible avenues: listening to others' discussions, watching and reading national and local news, newspapers, television... while also philosophically reflecting about life. Throughout the 10 years following my surgery, my grasp of reality changed at varying speeds.

I've always kept looking, and still do, for the right words to best explain my surgery experiences. One of the main reasons I have talked often about my surgeries is to help others be more relaxed about the after effects (some of which are startling to others), and to realize that today's drugs and medical care have advanced immensely.

Being free of seizures, has given me the opportunity to lead a treasured normal life!

And that simple statement, to some/many of us, is like participating in a real, larger-than-life miracle!

8 Ways to Stop Procrastinating

We all know procrastination and most of us are guilty of it. Whenever we have something to do, whether it is a house chore or tasks at work, we tend to put it off to a later time. That is because we don't want to leave our comfort zone so we waste our free time doing something less productive. And when the deadline approaches, we panic and we end up with a crappy job. Procrastinating is a bad habit. So how do we stop it? Here are eight ways.

1. Break your tasks into phases. When you need to work on something, especially if it's a big project that requires a lot of time, break it into small phases so you don't get overwhelmed. For example, if your task is to write a book, do it in phases such as 1) Deciding on a topic 2) Research 3) Making an outline 4) Writing 5) Final Editing. This way you can focus on a smaller chunk than the whole one. Once one phase is finished you can now move on to the next.

2. Organize your environment. It's really hard to start getting things done when your environment is not conducive to working. Take a look at your room or workspace and find out if it has too much clutter or if it is filled with things you do not need for working. Organize things properly and get rid of the things that distract you from work, such as TV or other gadgets. Get organized and get things done.

3. Avoid online distractions. Most of the things that we do nowadays require us to go online to get things done. The problem is being online is a double edge sword when it comes to productivity. It is filled with distractions such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. One pop-out notification and it's easy to get immersed and the next thing you know precious time has already been wasted. Get rid of these distractions by logging off from these social networking sites and hide those shortcuts from your desktop. If you don't see it, the less likely you are to be tempted to access it.

4. Be around productive people. If you work around people who just slack off whenever there is a task to be done, then it is most likely that you'll end up slacking off as well. Whenever you have something to finish, it will greatly help if you surround yourself with people who know how to value their work time. Productive people have what you call good work ethics that you'll certainly pick up the more time you spend working around them.

5. Have a buddy help you. Finding the task too big for you? Ask help from a friend to get it done. That way the big task won't discourage you and you'll have fun doing it in the process. So find a buddy who is willing to lend a helping hand to stop you from procrastinating.

6. Manage your time. I mentioned earlier about breaking your tasks into phases. The same thing can apply with regards to managing your time. Let's say you have eight hours to finish the job, split those eight hours into phases that you have already prepared. For example, one hour for deciding on a topic, one hour on research, two hours on making an outline, three hours on writing, and one hour on editing. This way, your time will be easily managed and will stop you from cramming.

7. Re-check your goals. If you find yourself constantly procrastinating then maybe you should re-check your goals and find out if it is aligned to what you are currently doing. If it is not then you must do something about it. You should learn how to adapt and meet things half-way. Even if you don't like the tasks at hand doesn't mean you can't do it.

8. JUST DO IT. The fact that you're deciding whether to do the task now or later is already a form of procrastination. Nothing will happen if you're just sitting there warming your seat. When there's something to be done, get moving and do it right away.

Procrastination is a killer. It kills time and productivity and can ruin your future. Hopefully by following the tips mentioned above, you can get rid of procrastination so you can live a better and more productive life.

"Procrastination is the bad habit of putting off until the day after tomorrow what should have been done the day before yesterday."
~Napoleon Hill

External Influence, How It Can Affect Your Healthy Living Programme

You've had your efforts doubted before and you'll be doubted countless times more.

You'll be ridiculed; insulted; despised; disliked; dissuaded and have all manner of challenges thrown your way by others.

It's the manner in which you treat these people that will determine how you deal with
your situation.

Just how do you deal with these people when they persistently try to drag down you and everything you're trying to do?

The answer is simple. They are not there to be dealt with; they are there to be accepted.

Don't waste your precious positive energy on disliking them and attracting negativity.

Try to understand them.

The only difference between what's real in your mind and what's real in the physical world is direct action and the unwavering knowledge that it will carry you through to the desired result.

You must focus on finding solutions to your nutritional and physical obstacles as they arise and stop perceiving them as problems.

Problems are the past; solutions are the future.

You must develop a mind-set I call "instinctive" mode. A frame of mind where we think only of the end result of whatever you're trying to accomplish, and bypass thoughts of anything else in relation to that goal.

Do not give anyone the satisfaction of viewing you as being anything other than the stellar and infinitely valuable individual you truly are.

Never let your standards fall below their absolute pinnacle.

They are worth every inch of the will power it takes to uphold them.

Draw from your best friends or even that one person who serves to sustain your sanity when times are tough.

This person may drive you to distraction at times and make you wonder why you still entertain the thought of their company, but they will have an important place in your development and overcoming challenges.

The "best" people in your life; the ones you're drawn to the most, can serve as a safety net during a free-fall.

They may not be able to defy gravity, but they can still intervene and serve to empower, protect, and inspire you, while forming an unconditional friendship that will endure.

"Be persistent"

You will benefit from developing the ability to be relentlessly persistent with the ability to remain resolute in those situations from which others would flee.

It's the ability to uphold your ideals and values regardless of whatever outside influences try to deflect you that will ultimately serve to deliver your success in every task you dare yourself to undertake.

"Be selfish"

Def.: Selfish - "Concerned chiefly or only with oneself"

There is nothing wrong with being selfish at times when the word is stripped to nothing but its definition, as opposed to the many negative connotations modern society has given it.

Being selfish is as vital an asset to not only your success and happiness, but also that of the many people you care for and who care for you.

Intuitive Health Readings As Preventative Medicine

Modern medical diagnostic techniques are fantastic at finding the presence of disease. But what if disease is not yet present in organic form? That is, it cannot be seen by an MRI, CT scan or X-ray and isn't revealed in blood work, an EEG or EKG. How can we predict tendencies to develop illness before it manifests in the body as detectable disease?

Genetic markers are one answer. By evaluating someone's DNA, it is possible to see familial patterns that have the potential for developing disease. But these are only probabilities. What of the actual energetic complex in an individual at any given point in time? What of the diseases that are hovering, ready to manifest in tumors or heart dysfunction, or waiting to send our cells spiraling into mutation?

All of Earth and her inhabitants are composed of energy in its myriad forms - the humans, the animals, the plants and the members of the mineral kingdom. It is simply a matter of density, form and intention. Given that, it is reasonable to presume that disease in an organism has an energetic footprint. Stress, sadness, anger and emotional trauma can all contribute to an imbalance in homeostasis.

Viewing an entity intuitively is a way to see into these energetic footprints. What can be perceived surpasses the abilities of mechanical diagnostic techniques, seeing into the very energy profile of an organism. Areas of concern, the mental and emotional composition of an entity can be assessed by an intuitive health reader before organic disease manifests. Thus, matters can be addressed leading to more vigorous health and well-being.

As example, we will make certain assumptions about the progression of an intuitive reading. Let us say that current bodily systems will be visualized as they would appear to conventional diagnostics, giving us a literal picture of the state of any organ. In a reading where disease is hovering, the visualization would be more ethereal. The area viewed might present as a color of light or darkened area signifying disturbance or the intuitive might simply feel a disruption in the area. Emotional causes might make themselves apparent to the reader or past physical trauma might be visualized. Simply put, the reader can sense the seeds of disease before they materialize.

This kind of appraisal can be invaluable in discerning the impending presence of illness or disease and can arm the client with information that they can then take under their own council, to their health care provider, psychoanalyst or spiritual advisor. Unraveling some of the underlying origins of stress, disquiet and so on gives the client tools with which to begin moving toward well-being, and in so doing, also toward more robust health.

Semi-annual or annual evaluations with an intuitive practitioner along with wellness checks from medical professionals can yield a holistic approach to preventative medicine.

Do Smart Sugars Provide LIFE to the Blood? What Exactly Are Glycoproteins?

Conflicts in life and health, human and cellular, are resolved only with good communication. When the internal human communication system is faulty, it sustains, compounds, and may even cause the very problem it was designed to inhibit. Human cells in conflict cause toxic infection which is the ultimate cause of most deaths.

Glycoproteins and glycolipids read, transcribe, and process your DNA and RNA, giving instructions for your very life. Smart Sugars joined together with certain proteins are the building blocks for constructing glycoproteins that coat healthy cells like fuzz on a peach.

Glycoproteins are much more than just the Operating System (OS) of the human body. With only a few decades of glycoprotein research and scientific study behind us, the interest is accelerating because we now know glycoproteins hold important keys to life itself.

It is the design, the composition and folding, of glycoprotein structures that dictate their various functions. The sugar to protein ratio in the total mass of the structures range from less than one percent (1%) to more than eighty percent (80%).

Ongoing research has recently been expanded to determine glycoprotein cluster composition to learn more about their structural function as well as communicational function.

Besides communication, glycoproteins provide cell to cell adhesion. They are protective agents and lubricants and are also found abundantly in the blood plasma where they serve many more functions.

The superfamily of Smart Sugars are saccharides of different chain lengths. There are some 200 known Smart Sugar compounds constructed with the building blocks of monosaccarides to polysaccarides. These specific Smart Sugars form more complex sugar molecules that can then be linked to polypeptides (chains of one or more amino acids). A long chain of 50 amino acids makes a protein. Glycoproteins are formed when the proteins are linked to the complex sugar molecules.

Scientists knew the Genome Project would be complex. Then they learned that the Glycome Project may be a thousand times more complex and even more exciting because it is getting closer to what determines LIFE and DEATH. The genes hold the secret to reproduction of LIFE while Smart Sugars determine blood type, provide the Operating System for the DNA, and bring LIFE or DEATH to the cell.

The function of the glycoproteins is determined by how these complex Smart Sugars are arranged and bonded together to form the longer chain polysaccarides and how these chains are bonded to the protein.

The sugars have two possible linkage formations to their protein partners, either a N-glycosidic bond or an O-glycosidic bond. These N/O sugar bonds allow alkaline and acid to be handled differently.

The vast functional diversity of the glycoprotein's roles is determined by the two basic glycosidic structures. Understanding the N/O bond is a quantum leap in glycoprotein research. Smart Sugars provide not only your blood type but they provide LIFE to your blood.

JC Spencer has invested two decades in the research and study of glycomics, the science of sugars. He is CEO of The Endowment for Medical Research, Inc endowmentmed.org.

Eco-Psychology and Deep Ecology

Eco-psychology may be thought of as a relatively new movement; however it is an ancient mode of knowing, one that has colored and affected how we live in this world in many ways. From the very dawn of time, humans and non-humans alike, needing to find their path in the world, have sought out ways to move beyond a simple existence and into one of fruitful abundance and comfort; all within the boundaries existing within their being. Eco-psychology can be defined as the study of the soul and its relationship to the natural world. The practices and study of Eco-psychology lead us to a greater understanding of the relationships that all beings, human and non-human alike, have with each other.

Deep Ecology, an idea first proposed by Arne Nast in 1973, is a theory which requires us to look deeply at the connection between our relationship to the earth and all of its inhabitants. This connection must be felt first on a personal level, a level that goes beyond scientific fact and into ancient places of intuition and wisdom - those places within our personal dark abyss where we truly feel the pain of elephants being murdered for ivory, and where trees, which have stood for hundreds of years, are burned away to make grazing land for cattle, who themselves are destined to be slaughtered and ground up into fast food. Deep ecology asks that we share in the pain and suffering of our non-human brothers and sisters so that we might find the courage to stand alongside them, fighting with them and for them, in order that they might live in the same joy that we want for ourselves and our children.

At the root of Deep Ecology is a movement away from and through anthropocentrism, the idea that humans are the only important and valuable life form. In an anthropocentric state of consciousness, humans live at some imaginary apex while all other beings are seen as less important, less worthy of care and compassion. From this perspective we don't feel the need to concern ourselves with other life forms because they are inferior to the "superior" human. From an anthropocentric worldview we are encouraged to deny and/or belittle the relationships we have with other beings sharing the planet with us. We forget about our relationship to the food we eat, the communities we live in, and the earth of which we are a part.

Once, years ago on a trip to Ireland, I had the opportunity to talk with some other people who were staying at the same youth hostel where I was. There were two Norwegian women, a Canadian woman, and an Irish man. We were talking about vegetarianism and I said that my biggest concern with eating meat is that we lose sight of our relationship to the animal it came from when we are able to simply walk into the store, pick up something that bears no resemblance to an animal. is called steak or pork chop instead of cow or pig, wrapped in plastic, and that can be prepared with no more effort than it took to go to the store. It seemed that the most difficult part of this idea for my table mates to contemplate was the idea of having a relationship to food. Generally, food is thought of as something consumed only to keep us from being hungry, or to satisfy taste buds addicted to flesh, fat, sugar, and various food additives; it is rarely seen as something connecting us to the earth where it is grown, the water that nourishes the food source, or the air that interacts with its leaves or lungs.

In an anthropocentric worldview, relationship is something exclusive to human interaction, not human/non-human interaction. Deep Ecology asks that we look deeply into all relationships, not just those scratching the surface of our existence, but also those that run deeply within and throughout all of life.

Deep Ecology requires that we look fully into the face of all of our relationships. Human and non-human alike, all of these relationships are needed to sustain our own body and its ability to move about the world in harmony and health. In a true Deep Ecology we value life as it arises and appreciate all of the abundant gifts of our planet. We enter into our relationship with the earth as a caretaker of the garden, rather than as a hoard of locusts who just stops by to eat and run. We understand the importance of nurturing our human relationships and remember this in our non-human relationships as well. In the spirit of Deep Ecology we honor and respect all and live in such a way that we leave life better than when we found it.
