Revitalize Your Energy for Fall

As we go into the Fall season, so much about Nature begins to slow down after the hectic Summer months. As the days get shorter, our bodies want to revert to our natural inclination which is to prepare for Winter and Winter's hibernation time. Because of this, it's possible for our energy levels to begin to drop.

But we, unlike Nature's animal kingdom, have our busy lives and it's necessary for us to keep up our energy and vitality at the highest and best levels possible.

Here are a few tips to help you accomplish this:

1 - Turn on more lights - Whether at home or at the office, turn on more lights. This helps ward off the natural sleepiness that darkness brings. Also, if you have access to and can use light bulbs which give off a natural light spectrum, these are most helpful. If you are prone to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), this type of light bulb is most important for you to counteract your condition.

2 - Go outside and breathe deeply - The cooler, dryer air of Fall can be stimulating. Breathe it in deeply to invigorate yourself and to clear out your lungs and other toxins from your body.

3 - Stick to a healthy diet - We are fast approaching the holiday season with all its candies and rich foods. By eating healthy now, you can enjoy a few more indulgences later. Also you will help avoid many illnesses that start going around this time of year. And don't forget to drink plenty of water and take your vitamins and supplements.

4 - Stick to you are exercise regimen - Exercise gets your metabolism fired up and contributes to improving your overall health, immune system and stamina.

5 - Get plenty of rest - Even though you want to be energetic, you also need to balance with good, restful sleep to maintain your body's equilibrium. One without the other can cause health issues.

6 - Make plenty of R and R time for you and your family - Get out and enjoy the benefits of the season; attend a Fall Festival or carnival, take walks and enjoy the colors that Nature provides this time of year. These add happiness and joy to your life to lift your spirits and your energy.

7 - Open up the windows - Our homes need to breathe too. Open up and let the air in to clear out all the old energy, mustiness, smells, etc.

8 - Meditate and bring the energy in - During your daily meditations, see yourself pulling in bright, energetic light; see it replenishing your natural batteries. Spiritual energy is just as important as physical energy, so welcome it in daily.

By using these tips, you will have an energy filled, joyful, and productive Fall season.

How to Lead Healthy Lifestyles

It may come as a surprise to many people, but leading healthy lifestyles can actually be fun and easy. Many think that people who live healthy eat boring, tasteless food and spend half their lives on exercise equipments, but they cannot be more wrong. They may be right, though, when they say that healthy people who lead healthy lives are usually less prone to a wide array of diseases, and are more confident with their bodies, the way they are and the way they look. These people can enjoy a lot of things that a lot of unhealthy people might not be able to.

It is important to learn that healthy lifestyles can mean healthier physical, mental and emotional health. Most of the times, these things can be strongly interrelated. Good physical health has a tendency to improve mental health and vice versa. Both of these have direct and indirect effects on the emotional state of a person too.

So, how can you lead a healthy lifestyle? In this day and age when the prevalence of diet-related illnesses is high, leading a healthy lifestyle becomes of the utmost importance. Luckily, many easy ways can be done to start living and staying healthy.

1. Good fats vs. bad fats. Trans fats and saturated fats are considered bad fats for a good reason. These kinds of fats increase the risks of heart diseases because they can easily increase cholesterol levels. On the other hand, omega-3 fats, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats have been proven to boost heart health.

2. Whole foods vs. processed foods. Whole foods are the basis of many diet plans because of one simple reason: they offer better nutrition than processed foods. Processed foods also have high amounts of preservatives which aren't all good for the body. Whole foods provide more energy and vitamins than processed foods.

3. Exercise. Not only does exercising help weight loss, it usually has positive effects on health. People who are already suffering from cardiovascular diseases may benefit from 15 minutes of aerobic exercises. Running helps the respiratory system and may also boost stamina and metabolism. Strength exercises can help strengthen bones and muscles, and may also help correct posture.

4. Quit bad habits. Habits are hard to break, but you need to get rid of the bad ones as soon as possible. Smoking poses a lot of threats to overall health, and may cause lung cancer, strokes, emphysema and many others. Drinking too much can damage the liver. The sooner you quit these two, the better for your body.

Healthy lifestyles can prevent many diseases and help lengthen your life. It can easily give you confidence to make you feel good about yourself and be an inspiration to others. In many ways, a healthy lifestyle can have good effects on your mental and emotional health. Instead of thinking that it would take too much of your time, think about it as giving yourself all the time in the world for better quality life in return.

How Stress Affects the Body, And Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Stress is an IBS trigger, but it also causes many other problems. It can have a profound effect on your mental and physical health. Here are some facts that might surprise you.

Human beings encounter stress as a daily part of life. Every change in routine that requires us to react causes a little bit of stress. We respond with ingrained responses. Some are inherited; others are learned.

Little bits of stress are beneficial; they keep us alert and ready to respond to the difficulties of life. In fact, the only people who don't experience stress are dead. However, prolonged periods of stress can have a devastating effect on your health, with symptoms such as:

• Colon spasms in people with IBS
• Upset stomach
• Altered digestive activity
• Headaches
• Sleep disturbances
• Elevated blood pressure
• Chest pain
• Tachycardia
• Irregular heartbeat
• Heart attacks
• Trembling or shakiness
• Decreased productivity at work
• Obesity
• Diabetes
• Loss of sex drive
• Menstrual irregularities
• Female hair loss
• Chronic fatigue
• Muscle pains
• Skin disorders
• Recurring infections
• Anxiety and panic attacks
• Shortness of breath
• Memory problems
• Depression
• Mental breakdown
• Substance abuse
• Abnormal immune system response

Stress also exacerbates conditions such as restless leg syndrome.

Relatively minor stress affects many people with irritable bowel syndrome. IBS itself causes stress, especially if it is accompanied by a lot of pain; this creates a self-feeding, vicious cycle that is often hard to break. It may affect close friends and family; they watch their loved one suffering, which tends to perpetuate the cycle as everyone becomes tense and anxious.

There is a huge benefit to be gained by removing or reducing the negative stress in your life.

Here are a few suggestions:

• Avoid watching the news for a few days. Opt for comedies or upbeat musicals instead.

• Take a day off if you work in a stressful environment.

• Hunt for funny photos at images.google.com. Try searches like:

- smiling cat

- laughing moose

- laughing

- smiling dog

Laughter stimulates the immune system and boosts infection-fighting processes. It also decreases pain and provides a distraction from stressful situations.

• Associate with funny people who make you laugh.

• Try deep breathing, meditation, or yoga.

• Avoid brooding about your condition. Focus your attention on other things instead.

How Do We Sometimes Get Sick?

According to Google, approximately 7,480,000 global monthly searches are done for the keywords "how do we get sick." In America and across the world, people are crying out for help in understanding the science of preventing disease. How do we get sick should not continue to be a common question if we search medical research with the intent of finding out what is the major cause of our sicknesses.

In 2011, one of ABCNews' headlines read, "'Lifestyle' diseases the world's biggest killer." It said that "non-communicable diseases are now the leading cause of death around the world"; the World Health Organization blames "... the rise in 'lifestyle' diseases[:]... tobacco use, poor diet and the harmful use of alcohol, and warns public policies are needed to prevent them." If we want to be well, we must personally adhere to this warning. National Geographic highlighted a community in Loma Linda, California that is the longest living in America because it emphasizes having a healthier diet and lifestyle. If this is a major key to wellness, then what do we need to consider practically in our own lives?

A 19th century, prolific writer on the subject of health gave a time tested principle on how we get sick and gave tips on how we can be in a healthier state. "Disease is an effort of nature to free the system from conditions that result from a violation of the laws of health. In case of sickness, the cause should be ascertained. Unhealthful conditions should be changed, wrong habits corrected. Then nature is to be assisted in her effort to expel impurities and to re-establish right conditions in the system." Ministry of Healing, 127. How do we sometimes get sick? Like Morgan Spurlock from Super Size Me, we might have not paid attention to the lifestyle related causes of our illnesses.

In order to ascertain the cause of disease, we need ask ourselves a few simple questions. How is my nutrition? Am I exercising regularly? Am I drinking enough water? How much sunshine am I receiving? Do I avoid harmful substances and activities, and am I temperate in the beneficial ones? Am I getting fresh, vitalizing air? How much rest do I receive each night? Do I trust in divine power?

Asking these questions help us get a big picture view of lifestyle changes that we might need to make to have more vibrant, healthier lives. We might have looked at the attainment of health as something that only comes by chance. However, as we study our human bodies just like even former US president Bill Clinton did after a stent was placed in his heart, we'll learn that the question of whether or not we get sick has more to do with our diet and lifestyle choices than we might realize.

Franklin Morris works at Wellness Secrets, a health retreat in Decatur, Arkansas, that features a five day live-in lifestyle center where people learn more in depth how we get sick and how to practically make changes in their diet and lifestyle. How To Become What You Think About

Whether you want to lose weight, build muscle or just improve your cardiovascular health, the mind plays a huge role. The mind gets and keeps you motivated, it develops those good habits and it lets you see your goal before you achieve it. I believe the biggest reason for people failing to achieve their health and fitness goals is down to lack of knowledge of how the mind works. You either control the mind or it controls you!

The mind hates change. It has a world view which has been built up throughout your life. It knows pigs don't fly and money does not grow on trees. If you were to see a flying pig or a money tree, your mind would reject it instantly. Your mind would be racing to try and find a logical reason to justify why this can't be real, so it fits into its world view. That's why when we try to make a change our mind try's to resist it. Our habits are formed by our past experiences, family and friends. If you understand how this works then you can beat it! To change your bad habits you must replace them with good habits. How do you change a habit? You must repeat the new habit 30 times, so around a month for it to become a new habit. Your new habit will then be formed, replacing the old one.

Let me give you an example. I developed the habit of having porridge oats with kiwi fruit for my breakfast every morning but I wanted to add blueberries as well. To be honest I was not too keen on blueberries to start with but they have so many health benefits, I wanted to include them. It was hard at first to get used to eating them as part of my breakfast routine. I knew it would be at first. I knew if I did this for the full 30 days it would become a habit. After the 30 days it was formed as a habit. I now have blueberries every day with my porridge!

Our daily thoughts about our self, define who we become. They make up our self-image. What is a self-image? The self-image is your view of yourself. The person who you are and the person you think others think you are. You cannot outperform your self- image. If you don't think you can do something, I can guarantee you won't do it. If you don't think you are worthy of something you won't get it or keep it.

If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right. - Henry Ford

The good news is we can change our self-image. You need to spend about 5-10 minutes twice a day to picture how you want to be. Picture yourself with bigger arms, a six pack or a slimmer you. You have to feel it. Feel the emotion and the great feeling it gives you. You must do this daily. You need to train your mind daily, just like a sportsman would practice his sport daily. Every top sports person visualizes how they will perform. They see themselves winning and at their best. If you do this for just one day you will see a difference for just that day. If you do it every day you will see the difference for the rest of your life.

Most people see an old friend or a family member they have not seen in a while. The friend or family member say's your looking really well or they may say you have put weight on. The majority of people will take the compliment of looking well and feel good for a short while and forget about it. The very same people will take in the negative comment about putting on weight and hold on to that image. They spend the rest of the day feeling down. Looking in the mirror seeing themselves larger than they really are. They may head to the kitchen and grab some junk food to make themselves feel better because they can only picture themselves as being overweight so what is the point. If that one person thinks so then I must be. Right? THIS IS TOTALLY THE WRONG THINKING!

You must hold the picture of yourself with that body you desire. Remember you are doing this twice a day. When you look into the mirror see that new body you want. This will make you feel good. Hold on to that feeling throughout the day. That feeling will keep you on track. Don't allow any negative thoughts about your body enter your mind. If someone makes a negative comment just accept that it is only there view. Everyone one has different views. If you asked a hundred people there favourite food. Would they all say the same thing? No they wouldn't. So just accept that you will always get negative comments but you don't have to accept them! As soon as you feel yourself having a negative thought, think back to your image of that body you desire. This will make you feel good about yourself again. Once you build this momentum and learn to eradicate negative thoughts about your body, nothing will stop you!

You will feel more confident, you will feel in control. This thinking will smash through any of the training or nutrition obstacles you may come across. If you don't control your thoughts, the nutrition and training will always breakdown when those negative thoughts pop up and you hold on to them. So remember, "You Become What You Think About."

How to Find Sound Mental Health and Purify Your Spirit

When I was young I looked for psychotherapy because I couldn't find peace. I was always very angry, and ready to explode for any reason. Fortunately, I discovered the right method of dream interpretation after studying all existent methods discovered by different psychologists. I saw into practice that only Carl Jung's method was valid.

After precisely following Jung's steps, I was obliged to continue his research. I had to disagree with Carl Jung's vision about his own discoveries, and make my own conclusions.

I concluded that the human conscience is absurd because it is one-sided and that the human being must not do what his/her conscience decides, but obey the divine guidance in dreams. This was how I could find peace and sound mental health, and this was how I could cure many people through dream therapy since 1990, and simplify Carl Jung's complicated and obscure method of dream interpretation.

My obedience to the unconscious guidance helped me become a psychiatrist and psychologist, while I was a neurotic young woman when I started caring for the meaning of dreams. At that time (1984) I was a 23-years-old young mother, married to a man I didn't love.

I was afraid of my anger especially because my father was schizophrenic. I was afraid to have inherited his absurdity, the same way I had inherited his physical and psychological characteristics. I understood that my behavior became like my father's behavior in many ways. I was very obedient to the divine guidance in dreams because I didn't want to be absurd like my father.

The fact that I was a patient but I could become a psychiatrist based on the knowledge given by the unconscious mind in dream messages proves to the world that the unconscious mind is God. Only God could help an ignorant creature like me understand so many complex matters. This fact also represents a big victory for the human race in general terms, since a human being could finally understand what causes craziness.

Since I was neurotic, almost as schizophrenic as my father, I could see the absurdity contained into the anti-conscience, which Jung couldn't see because he didn't lose his human conscience like me and like all those who become mentally ill. The mentally ill lose their human conscience, but I could help my human conscience resurrect because I was obeying the unconscious guidance.

This is why today I'm giving you lessons. Otherwise, I wouldn't survive the battle against the powerful anti-conscience.

Our wild conscience (anti-conscience) is a satanic monster. It can think, but it cannot find peace and happiness. The anti-conscience refuses to change its violent behavior, and this is why it always ends up on terror and despair. It causes mental illnesses within our conscience with the intention to destroy our human conscience and completely control our behavior.

After discovering the truth about the human nature I understood why our world is a living hell ruled by terror and violence. The hypocrisy and the indifference of those who are protected from terror because they have financial power also proves the human absurdity, along with all the horrors of our daily news.

Now everybody can have a direct communication with God because I simplified and clarified the dream language. Therefore, everybody can understand why they must follow the divine guidance, and agree with this guidance, even when they have to suffer.

Many times you have to suffer in order to be cured, or in order to evolve. However, you will be rewarded. For example, if you won't suffer studying your lessons at school, you won't be able to work and have a decent life.

You have to suffer working instead of resting, bearing instead of exploding, forgiving instead of killing, and so on, if you want to be a balanced person and find sound mental health. You must learn how to be wise by being wise even when you are still influenced by your wild nature.

The unconscious mind is your savior. After positively transforming your personality you will surely live better, and help the world with your wisdom.

Besides this fact, you will also be prepared for the continuation of your existence after abandoning our hostile planet. You have a spirit. You will be judged. There is a hell awaiting all sinners, the same way that there is a paradise awaiting those who cultivate goodness in their hearts.

Right now you are totally indifferent to what could happen to your spirit when you'll die, but someday this matter will be very important for you. I advise you to care about this matter right now. If you won't transform your personality and purify your spirit while you can, later you will regret having had the indifferent attitude you have now.

More Core Me! Experiments In Alignment

Recently I was at a 5 day psychotherapy conference. Milling around and getting to know 400 hundred other people was both enjoyable (when I made a good connection with a stranger) but also fraught with moments of self doubt. How am I being experienced by others? How come I am not being seen as I thought I came across? Damn, I thought I had overcome this shyness? Why does my friend seem to get more positive attention than me? What is this discrepancy between the down-to-earth, warm, fun-loving person I am perceived as by my friends as opposed to the slightly aloof and shy person I may come across as to strangers?

Since it was a psychotherapy conference and being a trainee therapist I made good use of the situation to learn something by raising this issue with others in a group session. Feedback I got from an experienced therapist who works with the body was that I gave off mixed signals. Whilst the vocal part of me expresses the desire to connect with people, my core is collapsed and part of my body is holding back. With him guiding me whilst I sat in a chair, I practiced a core lift where I really felt my sitting bones making contact with the chair and felt my upper half/chest area rising up and out as I pushed up from my sitting bones. I was supporting myself more from the core. It felt unfamiliar and so a little scary but observers said they felt closer to me as I looked at them from this stance.

The 'core', the 'core'... I started chewing on this cud that has come up again and again and I still feel like I don't really know exactly what is meant by the word 'core'. Is this indicative of the problem? So back home again I decided to investigate some more and found a movement practitioner that works with alignment, focusing on the Bartenieff principles and Laban. I attended a couple of sessions.

In one we focused on shape-flow and moving from a horizontal, vertical and sagittal perspective. As I lay on my back on the floor with my knees bent and feet planted firmly on the floor, I breathed in and paid attention to my chest and stomach as well as upper back and lower back expanding, my spine elongating from lower back to head and my pelvis and shoulder area moving out sideways. I became aware of the 3D effect of my breathing.

I then used this shape-flow awareness when I focused on a technique to ensure the pelvis is aligned and directed down and forward rather than pulling back. I breathed in and out using the shape-flow awareness technique and as I lay on my back and breathed out I very slightly shifted my pelvis forward and down. This is a subtle movement and not at all like a yoga pose where you curl your pelvis up and in. When I first stood up and walked after practicing this the first time I was pleasantly surprised. I felt simultaneously like my legs were pushing down and I was being pushed up. I felt springy and grounded at the same time.

I have been practicing at home every day for the last couple of months. People that know me well say I am coming across as more 'available'. I feel more solid and like I have a wider base. This allows me to take more emotional risks in interpersonal situations without feeling like my world will cave in if the other person does not support me. This is probably what people mean by my being more available. No doubt I have further to travel on this path towards inner security and I am in no way an expert on the subject. Alexander technique, somatic movement... so much more to experiment with and yet I wanted to share what I had learned so far dear reader as maybe it will help you too.

My interest is in becoming more 'me' and sharing what I have learned and the skills I have to help others become more 'them'. I am an astrological/psychological life coach with a post graduate diploma in gestalt psychotherapy and over 20 year's experience reading charts. I blog about whatever holds my energy and curiosity in this moment and whilst it might be related to astrology it could relate to bodywork, nutrition, relationships or whatever else excites me. I do not claim to be an expert on all I write but I speak from my own truth and hope my voice may reach out and nudge you further along your path, in some way. So, if you would like to read me more, come follow me on my blog at http://earthskyspiritcoaching.wordpress.com/category/blog/, See you there!

Trustful Predictions in Dreams, Understanding The Meaning of The Snake

Your dreams have many dimensions. The unconscious mind that produces your dreams is God's mind and sends you dreams with future predictions to help you face difficult challenges.

There are many methods to predict the future in our world, but they are not safe. They cannot be trusted for many reasons, especially because human beings are liars.

Dream predictions can be trusted because they are sent by God. When we learn the meaning of the dream language according to the scientific method we can understand the meaning of various warnings sent by the divine unconscious mind. These warnings protect our sanity. The predictions we see reflected in dreams help us prevent future problems or catastrophes.

By translating the meaning of dreams based on the scientific method you have a valid and trustful method to predict the future and know how to protect yourself and your family from hidden dangers.

You also get prepared for changes and positive events. The unconscious mind helps you attain a higher level of consciousness when you eliminate your dangerous wild nature and you learn how to be wise.

As you pass through a process of mind empowerment through dream therapy, your life changes. Better life conditions follow the transformation of your personality. This means that your transformation generates favorable situations.

The unconscious guidance is a valuable gift that transforms your life and helps you prevent numerous deceptions. After mastering the dream language you have a constant dialogue with God through dream messages. This alternative is more than spectacular.

The atheistic modern civilization will have to admit God's existence now that His existence can easily be proved into practice. The unconscious messages in dreams come from a superior mind enlightened by wisdom and sanctity.

Perhaps you are used with ridiculous dream interpretations based on suppositions. This is why you may think that I'm exaggerating when I tell you that the scientific dream translations are so special. However, my work is very serious. All my statements are true; all these statements were already scientifically proved through many ways. The accurate translation of the dream messages puts you into direct contact with God.

God tells you that you are making a serious mistake and you will be punished for this reason when you have a dream about a snake. However, this punishment will save your life. You'll definitively stop making this mistake, which would ruin your life. So, the punishment represented by the snake represents salvation from eternal hell.

The snake is the intervention of divine providence. God doesn't let you blindly make the same mistake until you'll become mentally ill. The divine intervention helps you stop being a victim of your anti-conscience.

You are punished with a bad event because you accepted to be a sinner, but you are basically saved thanks to this punishment, because it puts an end to the dangerous repetition of a foolish mistake.

The divine guidance in dreams is the best protection from all dangers, and it is a trustful protection because it doesn't come from ignorant human minds. Carl Jung worked very hard in order to discover the right code for a perfect dream translation, and I worked very hard in order to transform his complicated method of dream interpretation into a fast and simple method of instant translation from images into words.

When you learn the dream language based on the right method you can verify the superiority and the veracity of the unconscious messages in dreams. The unconscious mind shows you how to avoid passing through bitter experiences in order to correct your mistakes.

You won't need the punishment represented by the snake if you'll obey the divine guidance in dreams. You will successfully transform your personality and attain your goals without wasting time and without facing frustrations and deceptions.

You'll learn how to stop making mistakes. You'll attain a higher level of consciousness. You will become more intelligent than ever.

What Goes Around Comes Around

If you live in Woodstock you call it Karma.

But by whatever name, after living on this earth almost eighty-five years.. I know it exists.

My Mother, Lord rest her, used to say, "If you do good you get good. If you do bad you get bad." It is a simple but excellent rule to live by.

Example, last New Year's Eve I checked my voice mail at 4:00 P.M. There was a message from a man who was anxious to speak to me. When I returned his call he told me that he had a terrible problem and was wondering if I could hypnotize him over the telephone. He explained that he had serious claustrophobia. So bad that even though he was an electrician, he could not go into attics or crawl cellars. He told me that his fiance's sister had been murdered and he had to fly to Chicago the next day (New Year's). He had never been on an airplane and was petrified that, if he tried to, he would become hysterical. I suggested that he come to my office that evening. He said, "But it is New Year's Eve."

Since, at my age,if I can stay awake, I am content to just watch the ball drop, I told him it was no problem for me. He got my address and I met him at 9:00 P.M. The first thing I told him was that there was not going to be any charge for two reasons. One, he had enough on his plate with this family tragedy and also I didn't want him to think I was so hungry for a fee that I would work on a holiday. That impressed him.

We did the Hypnosis and I sent him on his way. The next day he called from Chicago to thank me and told me he had a great flight with no anxiety what so ever.

That's just part of the story.

The following Thursday, my wife was blow drying her hair and the lights went out. When she called me I told her not to worry that it was probably a circuit breaker and I would take care of it when I got home. Unfortunately, it was not as simple as I thought it would be because I could not budge the darn thing.
I remembered my friend was an electrician and called him to ask why I could not fix it. He asked where I lived, was there in an hour and presto my problem was solved. When I inquired how much I owed him, he smiled and gave me a big hug.

Moral of the story? What goes around comes around.
The problem most people have in accepting this truism is that they expect immediate results.. tit for tat. It doesn't always work that way. An old Italian woman once told me that God is not a merchant, He doesn't pay off on Fridays. We don't always see the connection.

In my work, people often are seeking revenge. Someone hurts them and they want that person punished.

"Vengeance is mine says the Lord". I tell them to leave it to God. Rest assured that justice will be served. Otherwise nothing makes sense. We burden ourselves with anger and hate and it only makes things worse. We are never free if we harbor hate and revenge.

A world wide present day expression of this philosophy is the, "Pay it Forward Movement " where we count our Blessings by passing them on to others.. What a beautiful idea!

When you think about it, it is really nothing new. Just another expression of the Golden Rule. Do unto others... comes right from God Himself.

You know, it is a wonderful world and most people are good. The problem is that the bad guys get all the publicity.
It is easy to become cynical when the media is full of man's inhumanity to man stories. I have learned to focus on the positives. Even when someone disappoints me I try to think about where this person is coming from. What are his true motives? Is he in pain? Is he trying to help me but just expressing it incorrectly? We should be slow to judge.

A successful surgeon once came to me and complained that he had a low self esteem. He blamed it on his Father, long dead, who used to tell him repeatedly, "Why can't you be like your brother? Go out for the team." His brother was a successful high school football player. The doctor told me he was a stamp collector and found it hard to forgive his Dad for making him feel not worthy. I explained to him that perhaps his Father wanted him to have the same fame and adulation as the brother but just did not know how to express it. Sometimes it is just ignorant parenting.

I say the prayer of St. Francis every day. It is good to live by:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

Pray it, live it and you will be delighted by, "What comes around."

How to Have a Positive Attitude Despite Different Challenges in Life

How to have a positive attitude: this is a question that must be answered by all people especially those who would normally face different challenges in their lives. Suffering from a bad mood after a long day at work? Feeling stressed because of problems at home? There are different ways for you to change your mood -- and outlook -- from negative to positive. Although the change may not come in an instant, you can assure that your mindset will be better after some significant amount of practice.

How to Have a Positive Attitude: Understanding That Not Every Day is Yours

If you want to maintain a positive outlook in life, it would be best not to expect that everything will go according to how you envision things. The odds will sometimes be against you. Once you are able to make yourself understand that the world doesn't revolve around you, you will slowly learn how to adjust your sails in order for you to move along the current and the wind. This will allow you to change your mood and outlook as the situation requires so, making you more adjustable and in the long run, you can keep on thinking positively at all times.

Effective Ways on How to Have a Positive Attitude When Faced with Challenges

Below are ways on how you can pick yourself up when you are faced with challenges that you didn't expect, or those who would always go back time and time again to tease you.

Listen or watch to inspirational stuff. Watch your favorite movie or TV series. Listen to your favorite singles and albums. All of these can be done instantly, thanks to modern technology. Whenever you feel bad mood knocking, you need not wait to go home for you to quickly change your mood. You can always tune in to your iPod or if allowed, turn on your office computer's media player. This is a quick fix for almost all mood swing bouts.

Change the way you move. If your bad moods are being triggered, you can try to change your body moves and acts, and your mood will change as well. For instance, if you are starting to feel angry, force a smile out of your face and keep it there for at least a minute. Meanwhile, if you need to relax or feel more confident, stand up, hold your head and back straight. For best effects, do both at the same time and you will slowly feel lighter on the inside.

Appreciate your current situation -- and everything else in your way. This is one of the quickest way on how to have a positive attitude. Appreciate your clothes: how do they make you look adorable today? Appreciate your food: how good did it taste? Appreciate your boss: what are his positive traits? There are a lot of things around you that you can appreciate and make you realize that life is still full of cheer.

Workout. Exercising is something that can help you achieve positivity and maintain it in a longer period of time. Through exercising, you will feel more confident about yourself that will support your positive outlook. Furthermore, scientifically speaking, working out can stimulate chemicals in the brain that can make you feel happier and relaxed. Exercising also provides you with more energy -- more energy to face life's challenges.

Having a positive attitude is a necessity. However, problems can really be too much for one to handle. Fortunately, there are resources online that can give you bright ideas on how to have a positive attitude when things get rough.

Preparing For College, Getting Into the Right Mindset

I am on a mission to encourage everyone to be positive, happy and to be proud of themselves.

Often when we feel low, uninspired and anxious or find it hard to get going on any tasks; this could be linked to low Endorphin levels. Perhaps you are not sleeping properly, drinking too much alcohol to unwind and not exercising. Maybe your eating patterns are irregular with too much emphasis on fatty, processed foods or sweet things like chocolate and biscuits that do give you a temporary mood boost but a couple of hours later the same feelings return.

I would like to know how is it that people in the past were on the whole more healthy than they are nowadays? It is clear that they were walking more to get from place to place though of course worked or studied more locally. They ate less processed food with more focus on fresh meat and vegetables as there was more of an emphasis on cooking meals from scratch. They therefore remained healthier and fitter, lived longer and enjoyed a slower, more relaxed pace of life. If you look at farmers as an example they rise early and work all day on the land or with their livestock, stopping only for lunch and dinner using produce from their farms before then retiring early to bed.

Nowadays children spend most of their free time sitting either watching TV, on their PCs or playing their games consoles rather than outside playing or doing some outdoor activities which involves physical exercise. Parents are too busy working ever longer and longer hours so when they do get home they often feed their children quick and easy processed foods, or fast food but this food lacks nutrition and are often high in fats, salt and sugar. Without a regular nutritious evening meal, children often end up eating snacks such as crisps and chocolate to satisfy their hunger so adding to the 'empty' calories and are contributing to the rising obesity levels amongst young people.

Okay so what can we do that does not take too much effort or take too much time from our busy lives? Remember we have the choice to take the healthy happy option rather than continue with the unhealthy and unhappy option.

I choose the healthier and happier option, wouldn't you choose this also? Would you like to join me? All you need to do is to follow these powerful steps to boost your Endorphin levels and overall sense of wellbeing:

Sunshine: when you are outdoors on a sunny day or even when you look out onto a beautiful sunny day, this will help to trigger Endorphins, because you will start feeling positive, happy and uplifted.

What if the weather is dull and raining? Then just imagine a beautiful sunny day, maybe draw a sunny picture or look at a holiday photo; it is that simple and will help give you a rush of Endorphins.

Exercise: have you ever heard of something called a "runner's high"? This is the rush of Endorphins you get from physical exercise. If you do not enjoy running, then go for a brisk walk for at least 30minutes. Why not give it a try one early morning this week or this weekend and start activating your happy drug.

Chocolate: just one or two chunks will help raise your Endorphin levels. Although you will immediately feel a mood boost resist the temptation to eat the whole bar or the whole box! How this works is that Chocolate acts her like a drug when eaten, which leads to the release of Endorphins.

Spicy food: Adding a little chilli or hot spice into your food will not only tantalise your taste buds but will trigger a release of Endorphins in your body. If you enjoy eating curry then that is great though do not overindulge as the sauce-based curry dishes contain a lot of the butter based 'ghee' product which is very fattening.

Meditation: I have always wondered whether it is beneficial and after practising it I can now assure you it is as it refreshes, recharges and gives you a boost of Endorphins.

Positive people: try to surround yourself with positive people who lift your spirits, motivate you and make you laugh. Watch funny movies when you go out with them and enjoy the time you spend with them.

When I feel down the first thing I do is put on some high tempo dance or latin music and boogie on down! Have a good day.

The above tips I have tried it and helped me a lot, then I decided to share it with you so you can all benefit from this incredible results.

How Is Kava Used in Ceremonies?

For over five thousand years, kava is known to have been used as part of elaborate community-building rituals throughout the Pacific islands. Even though Christian Missionaries tried to eradicate the use of the ancient and sacred plant, it was too deeply rooted (no pun intended) in various cultures across the Pacific to be fully eliminated from the island culture. As a result, kava is still used in ceremonies and to celebrate special occasions.

Kava has long held an exalted place among high-ranking members of Pacific society, and its ceremonial uses range from a simple welcome for honored visitors, to celebrations for the completion of work projects, to ceremonies for recognizing the social status of citizens in the community. Kava is also often enjoyed during the celebration of a new birth or marriage, and is even taken at funerals. Essentially, in any situation that Westerner cultures commemorate with a toast of an alcoholic beverage, we find that Pacific cultures also lift a glass - but for us, it's a cup of kava!

Perhaps the most interest ceremonial use of kava is when it is consumed by elders during divination ceremonies as they contact the spirit world in order to find missing things, diagnose illnesses, and foretell the future. We also use kava to mark several key events in a child's life, such as the naming of children who have lived for one full year, the consecrating of an infant at birth, and the imitation of girls into the traditions of hula and chant when they reach adolescence. In some places in the Pacific, kava is poured onto the ground instead of being consumed during these rituals.

In Vanuatu, a Polynesian island on which kava traditions remain a deeply integral part of the culture, political decisions are enacted during kava ceremonies. Kava ceremonies are also places where enemies are reconciled and goodwill is restored. When there are conflicts in the community, kava is used to return a sense of balance and goodwill to the community. Criminals may even be pardoned and given their freedom after a particularly effective kava ceremony!

Even nowadays, kava is an essential aspect of important political and social ceremonies, and is used to welcome honored visitors to Pacific island nations. Many famous figures, including Prince Charles and Pope John Paul II have participated in traditional kava ceremonies upon visiting the Pacific!

Finally, the whole kava root is often presented to guests and visitors as a symbol of peace and good will. If you are ever handed a rather ugly tan root anytime during your visit to the Pacific, it is not an insult. This is a sign of honor, peace, and friendship!

Mind/Body Connection in the Control of Anxiety

Your thoughts and emotions can bring about physical manifestations that are either positive or negative. A beaming smile at the thought of a loved one is a healthy outward show of affection. When the thought of a dear friend elicits an uncontrollable smile, this is one example of a mind/body connection. On the flip side, someone who is filled with dread at the thought of participating in a social gathering and who suddenly "freezes up" at the event is displaying a negative physical manifestation of the connection.

The connection is a remarkable and powerful tool, capable of controlling a clinical illness such as anxiety disorder. That being said, although a widely known and freely used term, it comes with an elusive definition. It makes the purpose of healing anxiety disorders more difficult to accomplish. A definitive understanding of mind and body connection and how it works is the only way someone who suffers from its debilitating attacks will be able to control the symptoms.

What is Mind/Body Connection, Really?
One of the reasons why it is difficult to define it, is because it is still not wholly understood, yet it has been known since ancient Greek times. Essentially it is a biochemical connection. Chemicals in the form of neurotransmitters and hormones send messages between the body and brain which produce an emotional response.

In times of stress for example, neurotransmitters such as adrenaline and noradrenaline are activated and the body prepares for "fight or flight." Heartbeat raises, blood pressure increases, and hormones increase their secretions (example: cold sweat). Impulses quicken, and your awareness of a threat intensifies and exaggerates. When fear becomes the lens through which you see the world, it is impossible to think rationally.

Anxiety: How Mind/Body Applications Help
Irrational fear is where panic attacks, anxiety disorders, and phobias enter. An anxiety disorder is another blanket term used to describe mild to severe forms of the illness. Mild forms are considered normal, and everyone at some point will experience anxious moments and episodes of irrational fears, but it is not prolonged.

An anxiety disorder is believed to be a treatable mental illness, affecting 40 million adults in the United States. Women are twice as likely to develop panic disorders, while both men and women are equally affected by social anxiety disorder.

Relaxation techniques: are effective mind and body applications that overtime shift a person's subconscious, emotional thought patterns from negative to positive. You can enrol in classes which follow relaxation methods such as deep breathing exercises, meditation, and yoga. Some people find massages, spa treatments, and acupuncture calming ways to transfer a negative flow of energy.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: is another successful technique used to change your perception of reality by altering your self-talk. The therapy teaches you how to use your thoughts to impact your world, positively. It involves affirmations, learning not to take life's challenges personally, and opting out of jobs and relationships which have negative energies.

The mind/body connection can be the answer for many people suffering from anxiety disorders. When first learning the therapies for calming the mind, be patient, their effectiveness will come with practice and time.

5 Effective Tips on How to Handle Criticism

Whether you like it or not, time will come that you will receive criticism in different forms. It will definitely hurt at times especially if you're living in a world of productivity where everything should be close to perfection. Receiving criticism is often times a blow to your self-confidence and self-esteem so it is best to learn how to handle it before it hinders you or fills you with anger. Here are five effective tips on how to handle criticism.

1. Keep your mind open. Try to understand that criticism is part of your growing life. Everyone receives criticism regardless of your position in life. Even the president has the whole country ready to criticize him in any turn of events. Keep in mind that not everyone thinks like you or works the way you do. I'm sure you understand since you also criticize others when the situation arises. Only this time you might be on the receiving end. Just keep an open mind and do your best.

2. Take it positively. People criticize you because you probably have done something great or worth noticing. And that thing is still probably a little rough on the edges so people do what they do best during this kind of scenario, they criticize. It's easy to criticize than give advice. So the best way to handle this is to take criticism positively by thinking that it's their way of wanting to let you know that you still need to improve. C'mon! We both know that we can't please everyone.

3. Learn from it. Taking criticism positively is not enough if you're not doing anything to improve yourself. Of course, criticism won't go away even if you're perfect but if you're receiving the same criticism over and over again then I think you have a problem you need to address. Criticism is a like a true friend that tells you what's wrong, but instead of sugar-coating it with a hug, he slaps you silly to wake you up. When you are being criticized, try to learn everything you can so you can improve yourself.

4. Consider the source. Like I mentioned earlier, it's very easy to criticize, meaning everyone can do it and everyone will criticize you once you get their attention. The more people who criticize you, the bothered you will get. When that happens, always consider the source of criticism. For example, let's say you're walking down the street then a random stranger shouts at you and calls you stupid. Will you take that as criticism and find a way to be "not stupid'? Of course not! You don't even know each other! For all we know that person is just plain crazy. But if criticism came from a loved one or a close friend, then it pays to listen to what they have to say because they know you. Get it now? From now on always consider the source.

5. Let it go. When all else fails, this one is the simplest yet the hardest thing to do, letting it go. When criticism is too high and it's already stressing you, discouraging you, and stopping you from doing what you have to do, then just let it go. Criticism should only bother you for a short time which is enough for the whole idea to sink in and for you to do something about it. Otherwise, if it keeps going and it's starting to affect you in an unhealthy way, then it's wise to divert your attention to other things that needs your focus. Give yourself time to adjust and gather your confidence and once you feel better, get back up and do your thing.

Criticism plays a painful yet important role in our lives. It allows us to grow into mature individuals. It shouldn't hinder you but rather it should be used as a springboard to launch yourself higher and be successful.

"Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfills the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things."
~Winston Churchill

The Mind Also Matters in Healthy Living

Healthy living is not only about tucking into fresh fruits and vegetables, steering clear of junk and processed foods, and hitting the gym every other day. It is also about cultivating a healthy mind. In fact, healthy living starts with a healthy mind.

Get Your Mind Right

Everyone who has ever tried to stick to a diet plan or an exercise regimen will vouch for the truth of the age-old adage that the mind indeed rules over the body. The tenets of healthy living are simple-eat healthy, exercise regularly, and steer clear of vices like smoking and drinking-and there are not many who do not know these. But there are countless many who do not have minds strong enough to coax their body into abiding by these rules.

So, here are some rules that will help you win the mind game:

Don't let the weighing scale rule you. Losing weight and maintain your ideal body weight are usually the two most important goals of healthy living. But this does not mean that you should let the weighing scale stress you out. Instead attune yourself to the signals that your body sends out-do you feel fresh when you get up in the morning, have your energy levels got a boost after you have switched to a new workout routine, or do you find yourself craving less for sugary snacks after embarking on a new diet plan-and gauge for yourself your health and fitness levels.

Find a way, other than going on an eating binge, to cope with stress. Stress is an inevitable part of our daily lives so it really does not help your healthy living goals if your way of coping with it is to reach out for food. There are countless other ways of coping with stress-talk to a friend when down in the dumps, count your blessings when feeling depressed, or pick up a good read, put on some music that you love, or go for a walk in the park when feeling anxious. These are your ways of training your mind to seek refuge in something other than food.

Egg yourself on. You can be your best motivator; you just need to know how. To not fall short on your motivation levels, first make sure that you are striving for realistic goals-"I will fit into my old jeans by the end of two months" and NOT "I will lose ten pounds 4 days." Then look for small signs of improvement as you make your way along. For instance, if at the end of two months you find yourself barely managing to squeeze into the pair of jeans, do not mope but instead convince yourself that you are along the right track and if you keep up with the good habits, you will reach your goal in no time at all.

Positive and Rational

Healthy living is all about creating a positive mindset-being optimistic when the odds are low and being strong enough to listen to and steer your body towards healthy living goals that suit you and not what the book says.

Dream-Building, 5 Simple Healthy Living Tips To Help You Achieve Your Goals

Everyone daydreams of being fitter, healthier, slimmer, richer, or happier. Do you fall asleep at night your mind bursting with ideas and when you wake do you smile, glad to be alive, eager and keen to get stuck into your day? Or are you stuck in a rut; tied to a job you hate or relationship which drags you down and you long to break free from?

In today's post, I will share with you five simple healthier living tips which you can use to encourage you to see how easy it is to find a way to make your dreams reality.

Five Healthier Living Tips To Help You Bring Your Dreams To Life

1. Look after your health

This is the key ingredient in dream building. A healthy body is vital to your well being. Take a rain check for a moment, be honest and take a look at your physical, emotional, spiritual and even financial health. How do you feel about what you see? Are there areas you would like to change and be different?

Action Tip: If there is something you would like to improve, whether it's a matter of losing a couple of pounds, saving £5 a week or taking the bus and walking to work rather than driving, making a conscious effort to do this as you will feel virtuous and better inside.

2. Nurture and Nourish Your Core

Take time to rest and look after yourself. From a yogic perspective you foster your inner beauty through the natural care of your body. The yogi sees their physical body as a temple that houses your soul. True beauty is the reflection of your inner self radiating and touching others.

Action Tip: Practice simple self care techniques such as dry skin brushing, steaming your face, or even giving yourself a hand massage to help bring your mind and body into alignment.

3. Be Excited

Chances are you are so bogged down with the mundane matters of your everyday life, you have forgotten the joy of natural spontaneous laughter and fun.

Have you seen a child run, jump and SPLASH! feet first into a puddle only to be dragged away by his mother and told off for getting his feet wet?

Action Tip: Well, just for today, be like the child splashing in the puddle, get your feet wet, make that phone call, write that letter, order that book, just take one small step and do something that will make your heart sing and eyes sparkle.

4. Record Your Dream

There is power in the written or spoken word. Take your time and find someone you trust and share your story and inner heart song. If there isn't anyone in your life who you can do that with, email me your thoughts and I will hold your space and pray for you till you can hold your own space.

Action Tip: Write your dreams down, write a poem or if you prefer audio record or draw it. Whatever your favourite medium is, just do it. And remember you can send your creations to me.

5. Release Attachment To The Outcome

Yoga philosophy encourages to say your piece and then to keep your peace. To learn how to be still and release all expectation and desires to how you think your dream world should be. Yes, it is good to be clear how you want life to be, yet the essence of life is to be open to all possibilities. You never know what is around the corner and the more you focus on a particular thought and, if it's in alignment with your soul purpose, the more you attract opportunities, to make your dream come true-one step at a time.

Action Tip: Learn to meditate or practice a mind-body activity, such as yoga, as a way to deepen your spiritual connection and understanding.

As you can see, there are many ways to reach your goals; everything starts from you taking the time and energy to look after your most precious asset, your health, and as you go along, rather than bemoan the fact you aren't where you want to be, acknowledge where you are, record where you wish to be, release attachment to the outcome and always have fun as you take care of yourself.
