Is Healthcare a Luxury?

Healthcare is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Melody Barnes, director of the White House Domestic Policy Council states, "Health care costs are exploding. Many people are bringing in less income every month and seeing their premiums go up at the same time. It's affecting the bottom line and businesses. It's also affecting the fiscal well-being of our country."

We all want a good health care system that's affordable and as long as I can remember our government has been trying to come up with a solution with not much luck. Some of us want it to be up to the individual, while others think it's a government problem. Our health care system has many aspects to it that we aren't looking at and for the most part don't want to. To tell you the truth they are looking for a solution that will never happen. In the west we are trying to kill the disease no matter what it is, a common cold, the flu, or cancer.

Kill! Kill! kill!

It will never work in a 100,000 years. We will never be able to fix a system that is built on the wrong premise. Our government, the drug companies and the large corporations are in business to make money and that's what they are doing.

It's not healthcare, it's sickness care. They are not educating us about health. They're hiding as much as they can and not focusing on health. I believe when they say they want to cure a disease like cancer they are speaking metaphorically.

In Spanish there is an expression (Con de los dientes para fuerat) 'they speak from the teeth out.' We all have heard the saying that food is our medicine. We eat every day, at least most of us do. In the United States McDonald's, Burger King, Jack in the Box, Wendy's Taco Bell, and all those chicken places are not there for your health.

They serve cheap unhealthy food that people are eating on a daily basis. Food is medicine and if you're eating unhealthy, sooner or later you are going to be unhealthy. You either have to pay more by only buying organic food, taking soda, meat and most restaurants out of your life or you have to pay with sickness and an early death.

People ask me all the time, 'isn't our government protecting us from unhealthy food?' Hell No! We now have heavily poisoned chemicals on most food grown in the USA and it could even be worse in other countries. Our food is being genetically engineered. GEO for short this is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques affecting the DNA of the food.

At this time we have no idea what this will do to our health. For the most part this is banned in Europe and the rest of the world. If you want to have good health care it is up to you.

You have to take responsibility for your own health. Eat a healthy diet; drink a lot of clean water, exercise every day, educate yourself and if you can grow your own organic garden. Think about your health not about your belly -if you think about your cravings like pies, chocolate brownies, cake, fried foods, hamburgers and fried chicken you're going to end up with some form of dis-ease and then complain about the poor health care you are getting or they are not giving you.

Grow a garden, eat food that grow in your area, eat organic as much as possible, stay out of fast food places and stop complaining. You are in charge of your own health or you're out of control.

They are not going to fix it; they don't want to fix it. If you want the best health care start reading labels, ask questions and stop buy junk food. If no one buys it- it will go away. Demand healthy food. I know if you bought a new sports car you wouldn't put the cheapest gas in it, would you?

You'd buy the best yet you put more poor fuel into your mouth daily.

I wish you the best in your Health Wealth and Happiness

Fresh Kava Root Versus Dried Kava Root

Unless you are fortunate enough to live on or visit one of the many tropical islands on which the beautiful kava plant grows, chances are you will only ever come across dried or pre-prepared kava root products. Although, in a perfect world, it would be possible to ship fresh kava root to people all over the world, the fresh root does not keep well once it has come out of the ground, making it almost completely impossible to ship safely. On the other hand, dried kava root that is powdered will last for over two years, while dried kava root that has been minimally processed will keep for much longer. Therefore, the preferred method of kava exporters is to sell the dried root rather than trying to deal with all of the complications of shipping the root fresh.

Nevertheless, I want to take a moment to extol the many virtues of fresh kava root, in order to ensure that if any of you ever have the opportunity to work with the fresh root you take it without hesitation. First of all, fresh kava root will almost always be more potent than its dried counterpart, and it will also most likely taste sweeter, as well. It can be difficult to know when buying dried kava root how old it really is - some companies likely leave their dried root sitting on shelves for months, even years - but with fresh kava, you can be assured that it was just harvested. Furthermore, the young lateral roots of kava are known to taste much sweeter than the older taproot of the plant, probably due to different alkaloid contents in the lateral and vertical roots of the plant. When you buy the fresh root, you know exactly what type of kava root you are receiving, as well as what strain it is. This extra level of control will allow you to craft the type of kava experience you really want to have. A final benefit of fresh kava root is that traditional Pacific kava ceremonies always utilize fresh roots, so if you want to experience the real spirit of the kava plant, fresh root is definitely the way to go.

If you do not live in a Kava growing area, and if you cannot foresee a future in which you might have the chance to visit one, don't feel discouraged. I still have good news for you. With a little bit of conscious effort, it is absolutely possible to make your dried kava root experience as close to 'fresh' as possible! The most important thing is to find a supplier that offers high quality dried kava that has not been sitting around for too long. Now, no company is going to admit to selling stale kava, so here are some tips for figuring out which kava supplier is the best:

1. Try to buy your kava direct from a farm, if possible. Kava farms sell to retail outlets and kava bars as well as individuals, and therefore tend to have a much higher turnover rate than retailers. Therefore, kava purchased directly from a farm tends to be much fresher. Fortunately, there are plenty of kava farms who will sell directly to you over the internet.

2. The more details a kava seller provides about the kava, the better. Look for mentions of the specific strain that is being used, where the kava is grown, even kavalactone content! There are many types of kava, and this information will help you to discover what types are the most effective for you.

3. Finally, a great way to determine if your batch of dried kava is potent is to notice whether the prepared kava beverage numbs the insides of your mouth and your tongue. The more numbing quality you experience, the more kavalactones are likely to be present in the dried kava.

By using these tips and doing a little research, you will be able to create a dried kava experience that is as close as possible to the fresh kava experience. And if you are ever in a Pacific island region, make a point of searching out some fresh kava root - you won't regret it!

Kona Kava Farm ships worldwide and offers safe, effective, and unusually potent Kava made only from the roots of our organic-certified, estate-grown plants. Don't forget to register for our free monthly Kava giveaway when you stop by as well. Aloha no, Makaira Kealoha. Are You Stressed To The Max? Then Get Help Here!

You should try and keep the stress in your life under control. You can cause yourself serious problems like heart disease, insomnia, muscle aches and depression if you are stressed. If you get enough sleep, you will reduce your stress level, and find it easier to stay in good shape and stay healthy.

While video games and other hobbies can typically be very relaxing, if you find yourself becoming frustrated then you should put it down. You should clear your head and let yourself relax, do not give into stressful feelings or frustration.

Surprisingly, getting better organized can reduce stress. A common cause of stress can be clutter, an inability to find things, or even procrastination. Stay organized; your stress level will decrease when you feel in control.

No matter the source of your stress, you always want to think positively. If you are thinking negatively then things will seem much worse then they really are. Every problem that is eliminated can be quickly replaced by the next one. A positive focus on your life will enable you to live it in a positive and happy way, with stress kept well and truly under control.

Give stress relief tonics a try. Homeopathy could help you reduce your stress. These remedies are absolutely safe and can be very efficient. There are some herbs (Kava is one of them) that have been found to be just as effective as Xanax (alprazolam) in helping people relax and stay calm.

Music can sooth the savage beast that is stress. It is commonly known that music therapy can cut down on stress if you find the music relaxing and soothing. So choose music that works well to relieve your own stress, because what might be soothing to one person, might not be the right stress reliever for you. Listening to music you like will cause your brain to release serotonin, which will make you feel calm and happier.

The first step to getting a grip on your stress level is to take an analytical look at how you could improve your methods of dealing with it. Try recording your responses to stressful situations over a period of a month or so. Looking closely at your reactions to times of high stress can help you to self-analyze whether you are using appropriate means of fighting it. If the way you handled stress only made things worse, you can seek new ways to manage stress in your life.

When someone is giving you directions or instructions, you will be less stressed later if you pay close attention the first time. In order to relieve stress, always be sure to listen attentively when instructions are given. For example, when your doctor gives you advice, or when a teacher lectures in class, paying attention will help you retain important information.

Music is a great stress reliever. In fact, the effect of music is powerful and strong. Science has shown that listening to music has a calming effect on the body. People's musical tastes differ widely; you need to figure out what sort of music works to calm you down and help you relax.

Calming scents can melt the stress away. Smelling soothing things, such as peppermint, rose, thyme, lavender, bay leaves, and eucalyptus, will relax you. In a small container you can add some popular scented oils and a bit of rock salt to create your own aromatherapy. Whenever stress starts to overtake you, just smell one of your favorite aromas.

Working for a living is hard enough without having to be stressed out while doing it. Stress causes many problems such as weight gain, premature aging, and can damage your relationships. Take the advice you've learned here and put it into practice to battle your stress successfully! Providing quality counselling articles, hynotherapy writings and other mind help resources online.

Signs Indicating a Spiritual Awakening

There have been times when I questioned my sanity as I walked the path of spiritual purification, feeling very alone. There were times when I fought to repress my intuition as it tried to lead me into truth that my mind could not accept and of which my church would not approve. I lost many friends who began to think of me as too far removed from the traditional teachings of the Christian faith in which I was raised. There was no one to tell me how to regain my emotional health so I could keep going forward. Without information or a guidebook or guru, it took me years to realize that physical and emotional pain comes from resisting the ascension process.

Having said that, I will give a few signs, which indicate that we as individuals and a collective society are going through a spiritual awakening. While none of these should be confused with serious conditions, which require medical attention, here are some other signs indicating that a spiritual awakening is occurring for you:

• Change of relationships, careers, dietary preferences, sleep patterns vision and perception, and libido level
• Creativity and energy surges that include decluttering, detoxing, and simplifying your life
• Desire for freedom
• Depression and loss of interest
• Electronic disturbances
• Fatigue , headaches, heart palpitations, hot flashes, and ringing in the ears
• Synchronicities, intuition, and psychic gifts increased
• Keen awareness of thoughts (your own and of those around you) and more emotional responses (energetic sensitivities)
• Miraculous healing of body, mind, or emotions

This list is by no means complete, but these are a few of the more common symptoms that people have reported in regards to spiritual growth. Let's look at a couple of these in more detail.

Anxiety or Panic Attacks

As things change within the body, it affects the emotions and vice versa. Most people fear unsolicited change and may resist the Spirit's attempt to rid the mind of fear-based patterns of thinking. This can manifest as anxiety, nervousness, or panic attacks.

Anxiety is a sign that you are resisting a clearing process. Simply acknowledge this emotion that has come up for healing. This fragmented part of your soul is asking to be integrated and aligned with the purer vibration of your soul. Breathe and bring it into the flow of life-anxiety is just another form of energy. When you feel nervous, remind yourself that this is only energy moving through. Say something like: "I allow dense/dark energy to be transmuted and integrated into love/light energy as I enjoy my peaceful, prosperous, easy life."

Use the tools you have discovered and keep repeating the mantras, prayers, and affirmations. By the time you memorize them they will have started shifting your response mechanism and you will begin to address anxiety in a new way.

Panic attacks can be "talked down" by tapping into the Sacred Heart center. Reading a passage in A Course in Miracles gets my mind calmed down and into better perspective rather quickly. Certain herbs have been found useful for treating nervousness. Talk with an herbalist or alternative health practitioner about using valerian root, passion flower, kava kava, St. John's wort, or other herbal supplements.

Sometimes the intense energy one feels as anxiety is actually a buildup of faster-vibrating frequencies that need to be released. The best way to do this is to get into the Sacred Heart space for five minutes. Do some deep breathing and then envision a ray of light beaming from your heart center toward anyone you feel needs a boost of God-Goddess love and light. If you don't have a particular person in mind, send that beam into the collective consciousness of humanity.

Body Sensations

As the biological body shifts into the light body, the old cellular structure is dissolving, giving birth to a new crystalline structure. For some who are sensitive, this can be an uncomfortable experience until enough of the form has been transmuted to allow for a purer vibration to take hold. The detoxification process can bring about body aches and pains (flu-like symptoms) or fatigue that our current medical doctors cannot explain or treat. It is not uncommon to experience unusual sensations in your body or chakras. There could be pressure on top of your head, tingling on your scalp or forehead (especially between your eyebrows), or energy surges in your body. Pain, hot flashes, and chills are also reported.

Body aches and pains may be directly related to regions in the subtle bodies that are blocked or stuck. Headaches may indicate that the third eye is opening. Stomachaches could indicate that you are stuffing your feelings/emotions. Chronic cough and sore throat may indicate a blocked fifth chakra. These symptoms should subside once the energetic condition is cleared and the body has acclimated to the new vibration. Until then, take advantage of energy therapy, acupuncture, aromatherapy, exercise, herbs, homeopathic remedies, mineral and vitamin supplements, salt baths, massage, or other holistic methods necessary to handle the discomfort.

Because organs and glands within the body are changing to accommodate the light body, your arms, hands, feet, or legs may tingle when you are meditating or doing conscious breathing. For more than ten years, I have experienced the sensation that someone is lightly touching or playing with my hair. I've also felt that I'm half in and half out of my body or that my spirit is too large to fit inside my skin.

If you are having ascension symptoms, be aware of your thoughts because what we think is what creates our reality. Our bodies are a mirror that shows us what beliefs we hold either in our conscious or unconscious mind. Be careful to think and say only positive things about yourself and your body; we are manifesting more quickly than ever.

As we enter these intense years of the shift into purer consciousness, there are spiritually-minded folks all over the world willing and able to help. A Google or Facebook search will help you find a group where you can chat and find community.

Happiness, Play And Be Happy

Happiness has been described as an illusion, a warm bath, a bowl of cherries, and many other things by many people throughout time. It is not an abstract concept but there are many descriptions which make the feeling of happiness an individual experience. Since the concepts of happiness are reliant upon the mindsets and emotional states of each person who experiences them, there is a "fuzzy logic" kind of feel to it. Often people attempt to describe their state of mind and body as being directly related to an experience. People say that they are happy for many reasons, and for the most part will attribute those reasons as mirrored expressions of their physical and the emotional state which they experience as a result.

In an attempt to nail down the truth about what "being truly happy" means, it is essential to examine the basic needs that have to be met for people to feel that they have reached this euphoric state of mind. The basic needs of all human beings are water, food, shelter, companionship, and health. If any of these are missing it becomes difficult to maintain a happy disposition. Considering that most of these conditions are met, generally people in the modern world can achieve "happiness" on a regular basis. In considering the state of childhood and infancy, babies and small children according to several studies, smile 62 percent more than their adult counterparts. The rationale as to this deficiency in adult levels of happiness can only mean that at some point people become less happy as they get older. If all of the basic needs are still being met from child to adulthood, one must assume either "something has been taken away" or "something else has been added". In either case in order to change these levels of happiness, something must have "changed" to subsequently reduce smiling capacity by 62 percent. If something got changed, then in theory it can be changed back again!

In people's adult lives, things do change as they get older. Increases in responsibilities and requirements to earn an income, greatly detracts from the leisure of "playtime" that most people experienced as children. The action of aging itself has become a condition that for many reasons adds to a persons unhappiness. The evolution from child to adult and then to parent is a journey of increasing responsibilities and diminishing play time, compounded with a sense of becoming older and less likely to participate in play of any sort. People are living longer but attitudes towards well-being as the population ages are not promoted equally.

There are preconceptions regarding "older people who play", but does it have to be this way? Could this increase in responsibilities and accompanying stresses be the reason for the decrease in levels of laughter and happiness? Most likely this is a key reason why most people become "less happy" as they age. They have forgotten how to play. It would seem that the stresses and lack of playtime greatly detracts from a person's ability "to deal with the stresses" they are accumulating as they grow up. As children we could "laugh and forget" about the injustices and mishaps encountered on a daily basis. As adults we don't shed the "feelings of unhappiness" quite so easily.

The solution isn't necessarily to merely take on fewer responsibilities; rather it makes more sense to increase our playtime and "happy state of mind". As small children, the imagination makes up a huge part of our psychological "well-being". The ability to dream up ideas and creatively play with the idea of things used to make our existence more meaningful. As adults we are told often "to grow up and stop behaving like children", perhaps the opposite is what we should be telling each other. While it's true we must take on many more responsibilities, we can still keep some of the key attributes we had as children. Of these, the values of friendship and "fair play", and how to make others laugh are important functions in the transition from our young lives to our maturity. If somehow people could merge the games and imagination used in their youth with the daily requirements of adulthood, perhaps their lives would be happier.

Since there are times when play is not recommended, by finding things "we like to do", people can establish hobbies and pastimes that enrich their lives at the end of the work day. Simple things like drawing and pottery or a martial arts class can mean the difference between being able to shed the stresses of the day and "carrying them over" to the next day. Parents can join in more of the games that their children are playing, even if it does take them a while to catch on to the rules! The bonds that this will help to form and the resulting energies exchanged by getting down on their level, will go a long way to promoting a much better perspective on life.

As time passes and the memories of childhood fade, so too does our memory of what it felt like to "laugh out loud" in the very realest sense of the now much over used text abbreviation. Instead of allowing our lives to become chaotic pits of desperate and relentless stresses, we must continue to play our games and laugh with our friends. Barring the loss of the essential basic needs of survival, we must strive to use our imaginations and come up with new ways to truly "enjoy our lives". By pursuing happiness we are extending our journey here, not only for ourselves, but for all who are within earshot of our infectious laughter. Remember the old Chinese proverb, "where there is laughter, happiness likes to be!"

Sleep Is Necessary to Life

The importance of sleep cannot be overstated. According to a recent report, 70 million Americans are having trouble getting a good night's sleep. Research from Harvard Medical School's Division of Sleep Medicine has shown the critical importance of sleep in fortifying the body and keeping the mind clear. Modern science has also shown how necessary a good night of sleep is for maintaining healthy brain functions such as memory and learning skills.

Why So Many of Us Sleep Deprived

The reasons are not surprising. For many women, stress is the main reason for lack of sleep. When you're mentally stressed at night, the body increases its production of cortisol, the stress hormone that acts like a shot of adrenaline preventing restful sleep.

For others, it's the culture we live in with so many temptations to stay up late surfing the internet, texting friends, playing video games, checking emails, watching Netflix, etc.

Many Americans are also over-worked with longer hours and night shifts which leads to an over-indulgence in caffeine from coffee, soda, energy drinks and sugar.

The Important Benefits of Sleep

There are so many reasons to get enough sleep. Studies have linked sleep deprivation to a higher risk of stroke and insomniacs are more likely to suffer a heart attack than those individuals who sleep well at night.

Getting enough sleep at night will also make your mind sharper, your skin healthier and your body slimmer. You will even be nicer and may improve your marriage since lack of sleep can make us irritable and cranky.

Learn How to Sleep Again

Remember when you could fall asleep and stay asleep, waking up feeling rested and refreshed, ready to take on the day? When left untreated, trouble falling asleep can lead to chronic tension, anxiety and even weight gain.

If you are ready to check yourself into sleep rehab or need a sleep intervention, then consider the following sensible tips to help you reclaim your rest and get the type of deep sleep that will rejuvenate your mind and your body.

Tips to Sleeping Better at Night

- Turn off all electronics one hour before bedtime.

- Take time to unwind with a warm bath or good book.

- Set the thermostat to a cooler temperature at night to promote sleep.

- Ease up on the amount of caffeine you drink, especially after 3 PM.

- Maintain a consistent sleep-wake schedule including the weekends.

- Consider a sleep mask to block out all light that can disrupt your sleep.

There is no one single solution to improve sleep that works for everyone. Try doing a few things differently at night to find out what works for you. It will be worth the effort because sleep is a basic necessity just like eating and can have a significant impact on every aspect of your overall health and well being. Sweet dreams!

Struggling To Remember Things? Check Out This Advice!

Every relationship that we have is built on memory, and the ability to remember. Don't let yourself suffer from something like memory loss. Keep reading for ideas on how to improve your memory and preserve your brain function.

A fun and easy way to remember things is to make a song out of it. This technique is often used to help children learn to sing the alphabet by memorizing it. Melodies involve repetition and so, are easy for your brain to hold on to. Try singing a few thoughts to realize how easy it is to remember them.

Use mnemonic devices to remember bits of information. A mnemonic device is a word association tool, which you use when trying to memorize and recall information in a fast manner. People who have difficulty with names might find this tool especially useful.

Exercise your memory by exercising your body. Treating your body right ensures that you can remember things you need to, and process information better. Exercising also produces more oxygen to the brain, and reduces memory loss disorders. Exercise also enhances the activation of chemicals that are essential for protecting the cells of the brain.

If you have an upcoming test, try varying your study environment on a regular basis. Changing the environment in which you are studying will often refresh your mind, and makes it easier to remember things for the long-term. Your brain becomes radiant when it is exposed to new areas, allowing you to intake new information with ease.

Learn to avoid feeling like an important piece of information is not easy to reach in your brain. If you find yourself doing this often, you are not alone. Breathe in deeply, then recite any words or memories that you associate with the word you've forgotten. When you can successfully do this, it generally makes the word that eludes you move to the front of your thoughts.

If you need to be able to recall and remember something, try incorporating it into a humorous song, image or mnemonic phrase. Using a funny mnemonic device creates a humorous, entertaining association with the piece of information, and you will be able to recall it more easily in the future.

Association can be a powerful memory aid. A common memorization tool is a mnemonic device. This little trick will assist you in recalling concepts more effectively. By connecting a term or an item with something you already know, there is a much better chance of you remembering it. Song, jokes and rhymes are all examples of mnemonic tools.

You can improve your memory through games designed to simulate your brain. The concept is similar to the way you exercise to keep your muscles in shape. Regular mental exercise can result in improved memory and the increased ability to concentrate and focus. Some great games for giving your memory a boost include word searches, crossword puzzles, and brain teasers.

Keep your mind sharp by constantly using your brain. Playing "brain games can keep your memory in great shape, and it will also help you maintain an active brain. Get out of any ruts, and don't be afraid to mix up your daily routines. You can change the route you take home, or learn a musical instrument. Making an effort to use your mind more often can greatly improve your memory.

Though you may get a bit of amusements from forgetting silly little tidbits of information, it can soon lead to frustration when you find you are really not able to remember. This could just be the start of your memory loss. Use the tips from the article above to help boost your memory skills.

The Importance of Cold Showers

A modern convenience, a luxury we have these days is hot water. This hot water comes out little spouts for us to use in cleaning, cooking, really cruel practical jokes, or whatever else comes to mind. Since this is obviously something that primitive people in the past didn't have access to, we should use it for bathing (or showers) because it's superior, right? After all, the heat kills bad germs, or something like that, right? Oh, and it feels good. It's sooo much easier than taking a cold shower or bath. And cold showers make you sick, right? And aren't good for you? And hot showers are better?

That is about as much reason for hot showers as I've ever heard from anyone. The people who still take warm/hot showers and refuse to take cold ones don't know the real benefits.

Did you know that many of those "primitive" people, like the Romans who have made roads, aqueducts and cities lasting thousands of years with precision that would challenge us to this day, continued to use cold water for bathing even when they had access to steaming hot water?

Or that Native Americans, after sitting in a steaming tent, would immediately jump in a cold lake?

The Aztecs (might have been the Mayans... or Incas) also used cold water after taking a steamy hot steam shower.

Before the big pharmaceutical companies came into play, doctors would recommend COLD baths to fix a whole host of problems.

And to this day, those who are serious about health still take cold showers.

Personally I take only cold showers now. I start the water warm and get my body cleaned, then immediately turn it to cold (as cold as it will go) and let it run over me. Most times I even sit down with my eyes closed and take it for several minutes, breathing steadily, feeling the energy surge through my body.

I don't get this with warm showers. There are many reasons for that.

When that cold water hits your body, the heart begins pumping warm blood everywhere. It speeds up everything about you. The cold bite fights against your mind and your will power. You are forced to either fight it and continue, or give in and take a warm shower just as most people would. When the water is properly cold, it can be hard. But so rewarding.

It is said that a cold shower raises testosterone levels, while a warm shower lowers them. I don't care for the science behind it, I just know that this seems to hold true. Testosterone is the man hormone, and taking luxuriously warm showers sure isn't very manly compared to cold ones. Ask most any tough guy to start taking cold showers from here on out, chances are he'll refuse. I've done this many times, so far not one has been willing to take the challenge.

But you should. Try it once. Turn the water to cold, all the way, and don't jump out. Wait until your body enjoys it. Sit down and let it pour over you like a waterfall. When your heart is pumping so much blood that the water begins to feel warm, you may step out. Chances are when you step out, you will feel as though you can take on the world. A warm shower will never give you this feeling. A testosterone building, will power challenging, heart racing cold shower like this will.

If you're anything like me, you will long for that feeling again and next time sit in the water longer. You'll be wanting a cold shower, even if it hurts at first. You will come to love the challenge. You become excited when the water is freezing cold, and disappointed when it is only luke warm at most. While others are complaining about running out of warm water for showers or baths, you'll laugh and jump right in.

Did I mention that taking cold showers also helps your body adjust to the cold much better? I have a hard time in cold weather, but when I take cold showers regularly, I can handle it as well as those who love the cold.

Something else I have discovered from cold showers is how well they help the body recover. Whether it's muscle soreness from working out or being sick from making a few bad food choices, cold showers either solve or at least help solve the issue. A cold ice bath does wonders for recovery, and bragging rights.

The temporary cold also helps strengthens the hair and skin. While most guys don't worry about having smooth skin and hair, those are signs of health. And it is perfectly acceptable to have smooth yet hard body. Afterall, don't we say we want our bodies carved in granite? Those statues are smooth yet hard. And the cold water will help keep everything it touches healthy (as a side note, healthy skin from cold showers also means less acne).

I've also mentioned it speeds up the heart, gets it pumping. It jump starts the whole body. If you were tired before the shower, you will be bounding with energy afterward. There is no way this can be unhealthy. This energy also strengthens the immune system in the process.

And one of my favorite things about cold showers is bragging rights. Most people have trouble even believing me when I tell them I take cold showers, or that I recommend them for so many problems. Having trouble with the cold? Take cold showers. Tired? Take a cold shower. Sick? Take a cold shower.

It may seem "primitive" and hard, but it works. And besides... who else is willing to try? Stand out from the crowd.

Take a shower.

A COLD shower.

Acceleration Generation, Slow Down, Don't Get Run Down

Which do you value more your money, or your time? Author Carl Honore mused, "All the world is a store, and all the men and women are merely shoppers." Tempted and tantalized at every turn by advertisements and a driving desire to have the latest and greatest things, people seek to cram as much consumption and activity into their already overfull lives. By wanting to do it all and all at the same time, there is a disconnect between what one desires from life and what can be realistically had. This feeds the sense that there is never enough time.

This desire to do it all causes people either to accelerate their pace or to squeeze in more than they can do and fully enjoy. Technology is an enabler and false friend to the acceleration generation. While it saves time, it also creates a new set of duties and desires. In order to use all the new time savers, you must spend time learning how to use them. Moreover, just when you have mastered this marvelous device and all its features, a new improved and better one will take its place, starting the learning task once again.

While offering a valuable service, email, voicemail, cell phones, answering machines, and texts, exponentially increase the demands on your time. Where before, people would have to wait until they saw you or could track you down, they now expect your immediate attention and response to their inquiries. This increased availability has many virtuous uses, but make no mistake, it ups the stress factor in a generous way. Keep in mind, quantity of interactions does not equate to quality. In most cases, it dilutes the quality by forcing people to weed through a volume of interactions before finding any of real meaning.

Living at an accelerated pace creates a cycle that starts by reducing meaningful interaction. This leads to a lack of fulfillment in life and causes people to accelerate further in an attempt to avoid confronting those feelings. This fast life can feel good temporarily, as it fuels the neurotransmitters epinephrine and norepinephrine, but like a drug, it soon wears off leaving you seeking more. Over time you can become used to this cycle, it can begin to feel normal. This insidious tolerance can numb the feelings that seek a deeper and more meaningful existence.

It is possible to learn to use the good aspects of a 24/7 culture, while not becoming a slave to it. Having extended access to people, places and things can be wonderfully useful, however without knowing and setting your own limits, the constant access to "more" can leave you worn out and used up.

The sad truth is that most people have no idea why they live life so fast. In the words of the Alabama song, "I'm in a hurry and don't know why." Part of this comes from mirroring what we see in those around us. Being busy is normal; it is accepted. Reducing activity and slowing down to savor life sounds... well, lazy. That is only because of what we have been conditioned to want.

Look no further than television or a magazine to find ads touting every kind thing imaginable that would make life better, if we would only buy it. Because we are conditioned to equate happiness with material things and money, someone who is working less and playing more, goes against what we subconsciously believe is right. But in reality, is it?

It comes down to pinpointing what you really want from life and understanding what brings you the most happiness. After digging deeper, many people find that it is meaningful connections with people, places, and community, which brings about happiness. Slowing down is essential to make such connections.

While noble in idea, slowing down is like breaking any other habit. You must first make a connection with a real reason to slow down and deeply desire to do it. Then you can start the process of feeling comfortable with slowness. This is not always an easy transition and may require time and effort to make new choices. Just as acceleration and irritation can spiral from event to event, so can going slow and being calm.

Slower living strengthens connections and leads to a stronger sense of community, all of which encourages people to relax and slow down further. You can make a choice to stop and take in each moment. Deep breaths and calm thoughts can bring about a deeper sense of personal fulfillment, but it all starts with the choice to slow down. If you are worn out and run down, what have you got to lose? Become a trailblazer in the slow movement, take back your time and make time for what is truly important to you.

Reading God's Words in Dreams

Carl Jung managed to discover that the unconscious mind is the dream producer, and not our own imagination. I managed to continue Jung's research and discover that we must obey the unconscious guidance in dreams with gratitude.

The unconscious mind that produces our dreams has a saintly nature. The unconscious wisdom proves God's existence and sanctity.

This means that the messages you have in dreams are more important than what Carl Jung could perceive with the knowledge he had. Your dreams show you how your destiny will be unfolded in the future and what you have to do in order to avoid possible problems and prepare the results you desire.

Your dreams show you what is happening in your psychological system, and what is happening in the psychological system of those who are around you. Your dreams teach you the meaning of life, and the meaning of death. You learn everything you ignore.

You only have to translate the meaning of dreams with the right method in order to have this vision.

The unconscious mind gives you lessons that help you become a perfect human being and purify your spirit. You are prepared for the continuation of your journey after death. Nothing begins or ends on Earth. The atheistic concepts of the materialistic modern civilization are very far from the truth.

The scientific method of dream interpretation gives to the world scientific proof of God's existence, clarifying all mysteries. This proof is valid because the wisdom contained in the messages we discover in the dream images cannot come from an ignorant human mind.

The scientific dream translations are superior translations that accurately translate the meaning of the dream language, without supposing anything. This is why they transcribe God's words in dreams.

Carl Jung believed that the unconscious mind is 'a good counselor' for the human being, while it is the mind of a genius, and the mind of a perfect angel. The unconscious mind is not only a natural organ that merely provides us with free psychotherapy in the dream images. The unconscious mind is God, our father.

The surprising importance of the meaning of dreams will completely change the world.

Through dream interpretation based on the scientific method you can learn God's words without the distortions you find in all religions of the world. The members of each religion have distorted the real value of the religious lessons they had. By translating the meaning of dreams with the right method, you are able to directly understand God's words, without human interventions.

This was a spectacular experience for me after passing through six years of atheism during my adolescence, after suffering from a tragic car accident when I was 15-years-old. I became a revolted teen. I used to attack the hypocrisy of the Catholic Church because I studied in a Catholic school. I saw that there was no goodness from the nuns with the students who couldn't pay our expensive school. There were no exceptions to this rule.

I started noticing many mistakes in the functioning of our school. Then, I started thinking about all the mistakes of the members of the Catholic Church in general terms, and I became even more revolted with my religion.

When many years later I had the chance to understand God's words in dreams, I saw that there is a big difference between learning God's teachings from human beings (who supposedly transmit God's words) or learning God's teachings in dream messages.

When you translate the meaning of dreams with the scientific method you have the privilege to directly talk with God and understand all mysteries. You are not misled by false information or distortions of the truth.

This is an extraordinary alternative that surpasses all the alternatives of the ignorant world. When everyone will understand the real importance of the meaning of dreams everyone will study the dream language, without a doubt.

Christina Sponias continued Carl Jung's research into the human psyche, discovering the cure for all mental illnesses, and simplifying the scientific method of dream interpretation that teaches you how to exactly translate the meaning of your dreams, so that you can find health, wisdom and happiness. There Is More Than One Way to Get Fat

If you listen to any "expert" on the obesity epidemic long enough you soon realize that most of them figure that the only reason people get fat is because they eat too much and sit on their couch all day. But weight gain is far more complex than that. Medications, various life stages, hormonal imbalances and more can all cause those unwanted pounds to creep onto your body and then refuse to get off.

If you live a relatively active lifestyle and you eat a good balance of foods, in theory you shouldn't gain any additional weight as you get older. But a lot of older people do gain weight even when other aspects in their lifestyle haven't changed. If this is happening to you then a visit to your local doctor might be a good idea to see what is happening with your hormone levels, or to ensure that you don't have an underlying problem with your thyroid glands for example.

If you are on anti-depressant medication then this can also be the reason you have gained unwanted weight. Check with the side effects of any medication that you are taking to ensure that you are not being influenced by changes to your metabolism or the way your body processes the foods you eat. Also steroids taken for asthma can also cause you to gain weight, which can be equally difficult to shift.

Stress can often be one of the main causes of an unexpected weight gain. When you are under stress your body produces cortisol which puts the body into its fight or flight response mechanism. When the body is in this state blood is drawn away from the digestive system to be used in other areas of the body.

Long term stress can result in your body converting sugars into fat around your middle body area - your body is trying to protect your major organs. Unfortunately too much fat in that region can cause pressure on those same major organs which can lead to major health problems.

Because of the complexity evident in how we are all getting bigger, it makes sense that the diet programs that are based on the assumption that you are eating too much and doing too little, are not going to be overly effective. For example if a weight program that simply advises the user to eat a lot of fruit and vegetables while taking a ten mile hike, is used by a woman who is actually overweight because she lives in a stressful environment, then the woman is not going to lose any weight. What is worse is that he or she will also feel like they have failed as opposed to thinking there was any failure evident in the dieting program.

More information on the different reasons why some people get fat when others don't, such as a low iron count, pregnancy and childbirth, and more information on stress can be found in "The Happiness Diet: How to lose weight quickly and with a minimum of fuss", by Lisa Oliver - You can search for it on Amazon.com. When Life Deals You a Tough Hand of ACEs

Last month I presented a lecture at Bastyr University addressing the relationship and causality between emotions and physical pain. I supported and addressed the use of non-pharmaceutical energetic methods for reducing and eliminating pain. By learning to unhook or rewire painful memories and associations in the brain, one can work in tandem with physical interventions like chiropractic to effectively resolve even long term chronic pain. For some, this would be an outrageous suggestion. For the room of people interested in Energy Medicine, this was a given and they were ecstatic to see that there was scientific evidence behind this perspective.

It is much easier and less complicated to believe that our physical symptoms or diseases are a direct result of purely physical causes - that makes sense to us. It is a paradigm that is influenced by our current model of disease causation. For example, if I eat too much fried fatty food I am likely to get hypertension and heart disease as a result. Genetic disease causality resulted in the human genome project being launched in part because of the idea that if we can name each gene and chromosome we might create early disease prevention with respect to diseases we are destined to have, and then we could manipulate that bad chromosome and voila, no disease!

Slow down I say! A new study shows that when twin's genetic makeup was studied with respect to genetic markers for disease and they were as likely as not to manifest the predicted conditions that they were "genetically determined to be susceptible". So if genes are not reliable as a measurement for disease, is there a more accurate predictor?

This might come as a surprise, but in the 1990's a highly accurate prognostic determiner of future conditions was discovered. It has a very strong statistical correlation between things that occurred in a person's childhood which resulted in brain changes that resulted in a wide variety of physical traits, habits and physical conditions later in life. Repeated studies have supported this idea.

The idea that a child's exposure to painful childhood traumatic events, also known as Adverse Childhood Experiences, (ACEs), was incredibly reliable in predicting major pathological conditions as an adult. The initial phase of the ACE Study was conducted at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego from 1995 to 1997 with more than 17,000 participants. These ACEs include exposure to nine situations: childhood physical, emotional or sexual abuse, witnessing domestic violence of mother, neglect, exposure to family mental illness, alcohol or drug abuse, family member incarceration or loss of a parent due to death or abandonment; including possible abandonment associated with divorce.

The most fascinating aspect of this research is that there are very specific brain structures that are more susceptible to emotionally triggered physical functional harm and trauma at very specific ages. For example the corpus callosum is the part of the brain that connects the right and left brain hemispheres and regulates negative emotions, processes social cues and promotes learning. It has been shown to be vulnerable to infant neglect and sexual abuse trauma and results in an increased vulnerability to post traumatic stress syndrome.

The cerebellar vermis is a part of the brain that regulates attention, is one of the few areas of the brain that can grow new nerve cells after birth and regulates our ability to hold focused attention. It has been found to be strongly affected by all types of maltreatment before the age of nine. Damage to this area often results in attention deficit problems and a tendency for a body to produce higher cortisol stress hormone levels.

The higher the number of these ACEs, the stronger and more direct a relationship with the many of the following: alcoholism and alcohol abuse, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), depression, fetal death, health-related quality of life, Illicit drug use, Ischemic heart disease (IHD), Liver disease, Risk for intimate partner violence, Multiple sexual partners, Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), Smoking, suicide attempts, unintended pregnancies, early initiation of smoking, early initiation of sexual activity and adolescent pregnancy.

I highlighted certain conditions that most people would perceive as predominantly physical or chemical conditions not necessarily resulting from emotionally stressful experiences.

To give you an idea of statistics, a person with zero ACEs has a 1 in 14 chance of having a heart attack. If they have 7 of the 9 categories experienced, their likelihood is 1 in 6 or two and a half times the risk. With nearly 25% of individuals studied having three or more ACEs, the acknowledgement of this important correlation could potentially save billions of health care dollars and thousands of lives in the US.

So what should we do once we understand that we cannot separate our emotionally stressful experiences from our physical conditions? As a physician it is important that with any patient that walks in my door, I must always open my perspective to look beyond the symptom and explanation that is offered as to what may seem the obvious cause of their ailment; especially in the cases of pain not directly associated to immediate injury. Some studies have shown health benefits simply by broaching the discussion with patients to discuss the connection between past emotional trauma and physical conditions. As a patient, it is worth being open to the idea that there may be a correlation and consider working to resolve past traumas as a form of preventive care that may save you from having to live through some very difficult and painful conditions that may be dormant or not currently symptomatic.

Finally, and most importantly if you are a parent, do not add guilt to the mix of what is already the world's hardest job, but just do everything within your control to affirm your children and realize that every loving comment and action that you offer them literally builds a healthier brain as a result. That, my friends, is something you can double down on!

Finding Support Thanks to God's Existence, Scientific Proof in Dream Messages

If you have no faith and you cannot believe in your religion you can have scientific and practical proof of God's existence by translating the meaning of dreams according to the scientific method of dream interpretation. Today, science is able to explain religion, and religion can explain science.

Carl Jung's discoveries about the meaning of dreams and my discoveries about the saintly nature of the unconscious mind that produces our dreams give you the explanations you need in order to believe in God and find His support.

Now that I simplified Carl Jung's method of dream interpretation you can understand God's words in dreams and have convincing proof that you are helped by superior knowledge. The divine unconscious mind helps you find all the solutions you need.

The meaning of dreams gives you a global vision of your reality. You'll understand why God's existence is indispensable.

Even though the materialistic mindset of the modern civilization makes you believe that atheism is an intelligent attitude before all the knowledge recently acquired by humanity thanks to our scientific and technological progress, the truth is that atheism is an idiotic attitude. Atheists refuse paying attention to the existence of many unexplained phenomena.

However, the knowledge we have about our own nature and about our planet is incomplete. We are ignorant.

Most of our reactions are part of behavioral programs that start automatically working, depending on the stimuli of our environment. We have inherited a wild conscience (anti-conscience) into the biggest part of our brain. Our conscience is one-sided and under-developed. Therefore, we cannot understand many things.

For example, we believe that God's existence is not necessary because we see how everything was gradually formed in our planet for various reasons. God's existence seems to be unnecessary because we believe that everything could simply happen by chance.

However, the research and the studies of various scientists from different fields has already shown us that nothing could happen by chance in the short period of time of the existence of our planet. Everything had to be previously organized in order to happen the way it did.

We need a creator and a brain that would organize the functioning of the complex nature of our planet, including the animal life. On the other hand, the various different animal and vegetable species couldn't have simply appeared by chance on our young planet. The huge variation of species cannot be a product of chance.

We like to believe that everything depends on pure chance because we don't want to pay attention to various details. We like to declare that we don't believe in God because this way we are free to do whatever we may desire, without respecting the laws of goodness.

What about all the unexplained phenomena that have been observed on our planet for centuries? Too many unexplained phenomena were verified and lived by numerous people; we cannot simply ignore their existence. These phenomena are real, even though they cannot be scientifically explained according to the rules of the limited knowledge of our historical time.

The fact that we prefer to ignore the existence of these phenomena and declare that everything is an 'invention', even when the same phenomenon is observed by many people at the same time, indicates that we are idiotic. A phenomenon that cannot be explained based on the criteria of the scientific community of our era doesn't stop existing only because it cannot be explained and understood.

However, we like to ignore what goes against our interests.

The real reason why we like atheism and we prefer to believe that we are free to do whatever we may desire is the fact that the biggest part of our brain belongs to our satanic anti-conscience. This is our primitive conscience, which is still working in our brain. It keeps influencing your decisions and our behavior.

Even in historical times when religiosity was respected, the hypocrisy of various religious members distorted the real meaning of the religion they were supposedly representing.

The human race is constantly influenced by our anti-conscience. This is why we act like violent animals.

The wars and crimes that characterize most civilizations of the world during different historical times prove that we are basically irrational animals that have a limited capacity to think and understand a few things, while we ignore many others. We have to develop our conscience in order to become really sensible.

By following dream therapy you'll understand how far from balance you really are and what you have to do in order to acquire sound mental health that lasts for life. You will also develop your conscience and use all of your brain power, besides becoming a sensitive human being. You'll verify that there is really a superior being sending you precious messages in dreams. God's existence will give you support, relief, health, wisdom, and happiness.

Using A Past Life Meditation MP3 To Get In Touch With Your Past Lives

A lot of people are fascinated about their past lives and want to find out who they were before and where they lived. Many people believe that their lives today are influenced by what they did, or did not do, in the past.

Finding out about your past lives has been very hit and miss for a lot of people. It's not as if you can go and look it up in a book or find out about your past lives on the Internet. You need a good guided meditation to guide you back to the past to see who you were.

A past life meditation mp3 is a great way for you to get in touch with your past lives and find out more about who you were, and what you did. Combine this with a program aimed at karmic cleansing or releasing the past and you can start to let go of the issues from the past and stop them influencing your present and future.

Typically in one of these meditation programs you will be guided in to a deep state of relaxation where your conscious mind is quietened and your sub-conscious can come to the fore. Once you are in this state of relaxation you will be guided back in to your past life where you can experience and view your past.

Some people have concerns about these types of guided meditations about becoming stuck in the past or being unable to get back to the present. These myths are unfounded and wholely untrue. During a regression session you remain in control and if you get interrupted during it you will return immediately to the present moment. You may feel a little bit disorientated, but that is just from coming out of a deep state of relaxation, like waking up from a deep sleep.

The great thing about this type of regression is that you can go back as many times as you want and, in most cases, you will see a different past life. The meditation program will help you to remember what you see in the past whilst you are meditating. Some people struggle with remembering once they come out of the state of relaxation, a good regression mp3 program will help to ensure you do remember whatever is was you saw.

Travelling back to your past lives through a guided meditation is a great way for you to find out about what happened in the past that is influencing your present. Combine this with karmic cleansing work and you will soon be clear of the karma of the past.

You too can find out about your past lives using a power past life meditation mp3. Combine this with some karmic cleansing and you can clear your past to create your future. Providing quality counselling articles, hynotherapy writings and other mind help resources online.

Energy: The Foundation of Happiness

Have you ever felt ineffective, drained, anxious or depressed? What exactly does this suggest? This could be a very considerable sign that your energy levels are not properly aligned! Your body has three main types of energy, including your physical, mental and emotional resources. There are approximately 50 trillion cells in the average adult human body. Each one of those cells is working diligently to produce some sort of energy your body will later on emit. If all of your energy types begin to work simultaneously, you will notice you're able to achieve great things with little to no effort. That is why it can be vital to get your energy levels aligned properly. It can reveal the simplicity of every day responsibilities and tasks, whether you're at work, school or at home.

There are many methods of controlling and aligning your energies. There can be adequate benefits such as obtaining self empowerment, guidance and healing within your body. The idea of energy alignment closely depicts the practice of self meditation which has a vast array of similar benefits. Most of the time your conscious mind's thought process is very technical and will not be aware of changes in your body that reflect your inner energy levels. This is where your unconscious mind comes into play. Once you have turned your mind off or at least made it quiet for the moment, you begin to feel your inner essence. Meditation is a practice of controlled thought, directed energy and contemplation which helps you better understand your body as one. Meditation comes from the Latin word "meditari" which means to think, contemplate, devise, ponder, and meditate.

"Every time you don't follow your inner guidance, you feel a loss of energy, loss of power, a sense of spiritual deadness", says Shakti Gawain. It is very essential to acknowledge every aspect of your inner body. Spending time out in nature, workouts, yoga and meditation can all give you the extra positive energy boost you need to get you through the day. You should frequently set aside time for you to be still, quiet and focused. The very basic fundamentals of meditation and energy levels derive from concentration, peacefulness and staying focused. A good practice you can try at home is to look at one simple object and focus on it for 5 - 10 minutes. Anytime your mind begins to wander away just block out all other thoughts and just maintain focus and continue staring at it. Examine the texture, size and any other detail that will keep your mind occupied. This technique will give you a beginning foundation to realize how to control and maintain your energy levels from being mentally drained.

Remember to stay focused on your energy levels inside your body that your mind tends to overlook. You will begin to start feel more energized and clear minded throughout the day. Practicing meditation a few minutes a day and feeling the inner energy of your being can dramatically improve your outlook on life, and your overall wellness!

Practicing Gratitude: Changing Our Happiness Set Point

Everyone wants to be happy. I've yet to meet any human being who said, "I love feeling weighted down with burdens, unlucky, unblessed, and totally unhappy with my life." Yet, despite happiness being what most people long for above any other human condition, many are very unhappy.

What is happiness? American Heritage defines it as: enjoying, showing, or marked by pleasure, satisfaction, or joy; characterized by good luck.

Happiness is simply a state of being. It's completely free, it cannot be bought or sold, and is available to all of us, regardless of individual circumstances. Money cannot buy happiness.

Research had taught us that we were all born with a happiness set point. This is a biologically pre-set level of happiness that determines how low, or how high (on the happiness scale) each of us can go. If an unhappy person wins an enormous amount of money playing the lottery, he or she may display an unusually high level of happiness, due to the unique circumstances. However, within a certain period of time, that individual will go back to his "normal" level of happiness, and will again be the unhappy person that he was before winning the lottery. On the other hand, if a very happy person finds himself in a very sad situation-perhaps a serious accident that permanently and severely limits his mobility-after his initial period of grief, he will again return to being the happy person that he was before his accident. This has been shown to have happened to some who became paralyzed. After the initial grieving and time needed to adjust to a different life style, the person who was happy before will be happy again, even with physical limitations.

Lucky for us, there is a way to change our happiness set point. Practicing gratitude has been shown to change the biological structure of our brains. This is accomplished through neuroplasticity. Simply put - our brains have the ability to grow new neurons that physiologically change the structure of our brains.

Becoming a happier person influences not only the present moment, but attracts more good things into our lives. Positive energy attracts more positive energy. Have you noticed how those who appear to have bad luck, and believe they are born to be unlucky, have bad luck that follows them wherever they go? This used to baffle me. Why are some people cursed with this unlucky streak, while others can slip on a pile of dog poo, and find a $100 dollar bill nestled in the center of it?

It's called the law of attraction. We attract the things that we think about. This isn't voodoo, or a pie-in-the-sky belief system. This is reality. Thoughts are energy, just as our emotions, actions, and physical bodies are pure energy. Energy attracts like energy. Sadness attracts more sadness. Happiness attracts more happiness. It's a law of the Universe.

"You don't need to own anything to feel abundant, although if you feel abundant consistently things will almost certainly come to you. Abundance comes only to those who already have it. It sounds almost unfair, but of course it isn't. It is a universal law. Both abundance and scarcity are inner states that manifest as your reality." ~ Eckhart Tolle

Happiness makes humans healthy. It lowers our blood pressure, builds our immunity, helps us to sleep better at night, helps us to handle stress, and just makes our life worth living. On a more spiritual note, happy people are kinder to those around them. Happy people are more loving, more forgiving, and more inclined to naturally give without expecting a reward in return.

This may sound a bit overly simplified, but if the people who inhabit this earth were all happier, there would be far less war, famine, oppression, violence, domestic abuse, and intentional pain caused by the hands of human beings.

But can we truly will ourselves to be happier? The answer is a big, "Yes!" Happiness can be cultivated by practicing gratitude.

What does it mean to practice gratitude? Just like any skill that we hope to improve, gratitude needs to be practiced on a regular basis. Practicing gratitude makes us aware of the many gifts that we have to be thankful for. It forces us to take our thoughts away from our perceived deprivation, and to dwell upon the good things that we do have. It begins to influence the way that we feel. It allows us to have the intention to look for the good, rather than the bad in our lives. It attracts more things to be thankful for. It changes our mindset. It changes our happiness set point. In reality, it can change our life and our health and our future.

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow." ~ Melody Beattie

What do we have to be grateful for? Although they may not appear obvious until we practice noticing these gifts, there are so many things to be grateful for. These include our health, our children, our parents, our friends and family, a roof over our heads, food on our table, nature, animals, sunsets, good food, education, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, intellect, sense of humor, and the list goes on.

Gratitude can be tough for those who are facing recent loss, struggling with depression, illness, financial struggles, or personal circumstances that are difficult or painful. But there is always a reason to be grateful. If you are alive, you can be thankful for another day. We can be thankful for changes that we have made in our lives, or for significant people who have influenced us in positive ways. If we are hard pressed to find something in the present to be grateful for, we can be grateful for something that has happened in our past, or for something that we are looking forward to in our future.

We can be grateful for our trials, knowing that out of fire, comes a diamond.

Practicing gratitude may feel forced or unnatural in the beginning. Do it anyway, even if the things that you are thankful for do not bring up warm and fuzzy feelings. As you keep practicing, it will become easier and more natural.

How to Practice Gratitude:

• Keep a gratitude journal. I think this is the most successful way to cultivate gratitude. The journal can be as simple or as elaborate as you want. A dollar store spiral notebook or a beautiful store bought or homemade journal all work well. Everyday, make a list of all the things that you are grateful for. Be very specific. Small things matter. At the top of the page, write, "I'm grateful for," and then use bullets or numbers to list them on the page. This can be done at bedtime, or anytime that fits your lifestyle or preference. If it's tough to come up with a list, make sure that you find at least five things to write down. Just the act of looking for things to be grateful for, and then writing them down, makes you more aware of the abundance in your life. It's nice to read over the list, and to be reminded of good things that have already happened to us.

In addition to a list, you can pick one thing and write about it, if you'd like to. You can write one paragraph, or two pages. It's up to you.

• Write thank you notes and letters. If someone has done something kind for you, write them a note or a letter, and let them know how you feel. Everyone loves to be appreciated, and a note or letter could brighten someone's day. You can keep a pile of pre-stamped postcards, to make it easier for you to just write a small heartfelt thank you and drop it into the mailbox.

• Take the time to say thank you to others throughout your day. Notice the kindnesses that others do for you, and take the time to thank them for it. It can be as simple as opening a door for you, or as elaborate as cooking you a meal. Show gratitude.

• Say grace, and remember to be thankful for the food that you eat. Don't take your food for granted.

• Practice gratitude in the present moment. This may be difficult in the beginning. As you find gratitude becoming more natural, it will get easier for you to be thankful, in the moment, for the abundance in your life.

•Before you get out of bed in the morning, be mindful of the things that you are grateful for. It may help to look over the list from the day before.

• Be creative. If you're up for it, create a gratitude board or word cloud. The board can have words, drawings, or pictures of any of the things that you're thankful for. Hang it some place where you can easily see it. You can start a gratitude scrapbook, and be as creative as you'd like!

Consider using gratitude beads. Hold a set of beads in your hand, and for every bead that you touch, recite another thing that you are grateful for.

I like the idea of a gratitude jar. Find an empty jar or vase. Everyday, for each thing on your list, drop one marble into the jar. (You can also use stones, sea shells, or beads.) Seeing the jar fill up can be a reminder of how your gratitude is growing, and of all of the things that you have to be thankful for.

• Commit to practicing gratitude. Commit to beginning and continuing this practice. Make a promise to stick with it for a certain period of time. It may take a while. It also may change your life, in unexpected ways, in a relatively short period of time. Don't be hard on yourself. If you have been unhappy for a long time, it may take practice to have gratitude come naturally. Stick with it. Try different ways to incorporate gratitude into your day-to-day life, until you are more naturally aware of the good things that surround you. The more you practice, the easier it will get. As time goes by, your commitment will pay off with an increased level of happiness and well-being. More good will come to you by the energy that comes from your thoughts and your feelings. You'll find so much more to be thankful for.

"You simply will not be the same person two months from now after consciously giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more will be given you." ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach

7 Reasons To Stop Eating Fast Food

Almost everyone loves fast food. It's tasty, delicious and gives you a quick fix whenever you get hungry. Although it is sold worldwide, only a few really take into consideration the dangers of eating it. For someone like you who is concerned about health, I'm sure you are aware that it is wise to minimize your fast food intake or better yet, stop eating it for good. Do you know why? If not, here are the top seven reasons why you should stop eating it.

1. Poor animal conditions. Animals sourced for the main ingredients of your favorite fast food are frequently kept in poor conditions. They are kept in tight spaces with not enough room for them to even relax. They undergo extreme stress that most of them go crazy and hurt themselves or other animals. Most of them are even slaughtered in inhumane ways.

2. Pumped with medicine. The poor conditions of the animals in captivity cause them to get sick and their dirty surroundings get filled with bacteria. To stop them from getting sick, they are fed with medicine and antibiotics. The worst part is not all of those medicines don't leave the animal's body even after they get processed or cooked.

3. Filled with preservatives. Ever tried the French Fries experiment wherein you put a bunch of French fries bought from your favorite restaurant, put them in a jar, then wait for a week to see if they decompose? If not, you will be surprised that most of those fries do not even rot. That is because of the preservatives put in those foods to prolong their shelf life. It's not even natural or organic anymore.

4. Filled with empty calories. Although it can give you quick relief to hunger, it won't actually give you the nutrients your body needs. It is actually filled with empty calories that will just make you fat. You may have cured your hunger with junk food but you're also making yourself undernourished in the process.

5. Full of sugar. When I say sugar, I mean artificial sweeteners that are actually worse than sugar. Fast food companies use special types of artificial sweeteners partnered with high doses of MSG to increase the flavor of the food. These additives are harmful to the body in the long run and can cause diabetes or even cancer.

6. Bad for the stomach. We all know how important fiber is in maintaining a healthy body. It gets rid of toxins, cholesterol and other harmful stuff in our digestive system. It contains little to no fiber at all. Meaning, going on a heavy fast food diet may lead to serious diseases such as colon cancer.

7. It is addictive. With all those additives and artificial flavorings, it is designed for one thing, to make you crave for more. Fast food instantly becomes a comfort food that is very addictive. We all know what happens when you get addicted to it, you eat more which in turn makes you fat, undernourished and sick.

Sometimes it's okay to give in to these kinds of food once in a while. You can have some like once a week but make sure it's not a lot. But if you really want to stop eating fast food and become healthier, just keep in mind the dangers listed above before taking the first bite. I assure you, you can live without fast food.

The Return of the Divine Feminine

Visionaries, luminaries, modern mystics along with more practical thought leaders found in every field including, economists, businesspeople and environmentalists, as well as everyday people, have made a claim that 2012 is the year of this paradigm shift. This new energy is the return of the Divine Soul's Feminine Energy.

My guides are telling me that it is the "Age of the Enlighten Soul" and they tell me that we are just the beginning of a long new cycle of a new vibration alignment in which everything including our very essence, our souls is in a huge awakening time. While this is exciting news, it is also transitional and that is often unsettling as the balance that once was is no longer and a new normal is being formed. It will take a very long time to see the overall results but everyday when we act in courage we are co-creating this new normal. The over all shift is from the patriarch to equality between it and the matriarch. The new vibration, involves the divine soul's fememine energy flow. What is the Divine Soul's Feminine energy?

The energy of the Divine Feminine is a unique and natural experience that women bring to the world. Unique in that the feminine energy is present in anything or anyone, including men when they are nourishing and sustaining life. Women, or more correctly the feminine energy is automatically plugged into being connected to others. Women as holders of that energy hold a genuine authentic capacity of empathy for one another's a challenges, and to encourage and nurture each others hidden potential. Life is sustainable when this happens.

It is what the feminine energy does so well. It sustains and fills our empty buckets with the kind of juice and zest we need to carry on and carry out our desires. Everything that is life affirming and sustaining is the Divine Feminine Energy. Carrying and facilitating this energy is the highest value of women's work during her lifetime. With its help we can activate a new age of human possibilities and potential for ways of being that we haven't even dreamt yet.

Women are 16 times stronger than men; they hold the creative, sustainer energy of the entire cosmos. The Dali Lama has quoted: "The world will be saved by the western woman." My shaman teacher Lynn Andrews taught that women were sacred to the teachings of life and that they are the teachers on this planet. She informed us that women of the west will show women around the world how to hold the power of woman. This was told to me over 20 years ago and here we are in the midst of the shift from the ego to the essence of ourselves; our soul's awakening and participating in our daily lives in bigger ways. It is the soul over matter and heart over the head mindset-shift that demands new tools and training so we can become aligned to these shifts and changes. It's either, evolve or we as a species may die.

Teilhard de Chardin wrote, "Humanity is being taken to the point where it will have to choose between suicide and adoration." We at the breaking point in having to set a new course in our economic, political and environmental but most importantly we as individuals have to step into our greatest fears our own brilliance and do those things that we are feeling the urge to do. This is a unique time in history in which the balance of our very planet is awakening to make the shift to the Divine Soul's feminine flow to sustain and learn to live from our heart and soul. Make the decision to cross over the threshold into personal transformation and personal healing so that your gifts can claim a stake in a New Earth. You are an important piece of the larger picture. New ways of relating to one another on this planet are being birthed as we surrender and align to the energy of the Divine Soul's Feminine flow. Each of us can become powerful change agents through conscious choice and willingness.

How can you begin to implement the divine energy of the feminine in your life?
Call in the divine feminine energy into your lives by asking the miracle, the magic, and the mystery to be a part of your daily life and for your business. Try this affirmation: I invite the mystery, magic and miracle that I am seeking now in my life and in my business.
Remove isolation. Sure it is okay to allow yourself time to work through a sticky point but after 3 days, reach out and get help. Asking for help is the way the divine feminine can come through your friend or mentor and give you just the boost what you need to get back on track.
