God's Words in Dreams, How to Be a Hero and Find Peace

Even though you are an absurd human being who lives constantly influenced or controlled by your anti-conscience (your wild, primitive conscience) you must have a wise attitude if you want to find peace.

Even though you are totally indifferent to what may happen to people you don't even know, the truth is that you have the moral obligation to help these people. If you want to find peace, you must eliminate terror on Earth and help all human beings have the chance to live happily.

You are responsible for the entire world; not only for yourself and your family.

However, you are insignificant. You don't have the power to eliminate terror on Earth. You need help.

This is why the divine unconscious mind produces your dreams. All dreams contain precious messages that help you evolve, and save the world with your brilliant example.

You'll learn how to put an end to terror on Earth with your extraordinary personality and your memorable work.

The unconscious mind is God's mind. God demands a lot from you. God is your savior, but He demands perfection from you, even though you are so imperfect and so indifferent to your imperfections.

Since God exists and speaks in dreams, you must learn a few of His words. I have translated numerous dreams for many people, besides my own. I could also continue Carl Jung's research, what means that I can tell you the results of my observations, even if you have never translated one of your dreams according to the scientific method.

Here are a few of God's words in dreams. These are common messages sent to many dreamers:

"Please, help me save humanity from poverty. Please, help me put an end to violence. Please, help me put an end to all horrors. I need your cooperation. I cannot eliminate terror alone.

Please, help me rest instead of having to save human beings from craziness and terror. I'm tired. I cannot bear this hell.

Nobody pays attention to my lessons. Nobody cares about my existence. Nobody respects my laws.

My laws are the laws of goodness and justice. My laws are your moral principals.

You are a big sinner too. I'm afraid you'll never help me because you are too selfish. Nobody helps me the way I need. I feel alone."

This was only an example of what God may tell you in a dream, after saving you from craziness and terror, and giving you sound mental health and wisdom. You'll learn many truths you ignore, and surely feel sorry for your savior.

The divine unconscious mind suffers very much because of the existence of terror on Earth. You have the moral obligation to care about this matter and do something to change this situation.

Now that I already gave you many lessons about the content of the human brain and psyche and how you can find sound mental health through dream translation, I'm showing you other aspects of your reality.

The responsibility you have because you are a human being is more important than what you may possibly imagine. God wants to see you becoming a hero.

You can be a hero and save the world if you'll obey the unconscious wisdom; you'll learn how to be wise yourself. You can be the hero humanity needs because you have this capacity. You are not using the biggest part of your brain because it belongs to your anti-conscience. When you'll transform your anti-conscience into human content you'll use all of the brain power that goes wasted now.

Even if you are ignorant, silly, shy, insecure, and you have numerous psychological problems, the divine unconscious mind can transform you into a strong and self-confident hero who will forever be admired by humanity, with deep gratitude and respect. You only have to be obedient.

God knows what is good or bad. He will give you many lessons in dreams. You must pay attention to His lessons and follow His guidance.

God is your doctor and spiritual guide. You must cooperate with your doctor, so that you may transform your anti-conscience into human content the fastest possible.

The fact that you have to become a wise human being will surely be better for you when you'll attain this goal. However, this will also be better for the world. God needs your example and your work. You have to be a hero and help Him put an end to terror and violence on Earth. God cannot put an end to terror alone, the same way that you cannot find peace alone. You need His help, and He needs your work.

Christina Sponias continued Carl Jung's research into the human psyche, discovering the cure for all mental illnesses, and simplifying the scientific method of dream interpretation that teaches you how to exactly translate the meaning of your dreams, so that you can find health, wisdom and happiness.

Fresh Kava Root Versus Dried Kava Root

Unless you are fortunate enough to live on or visit one of the many tropical islands on which the beautiful kava plant grows, chances are you will only ever come across dried or pre-prepared kava root products. Although, in a perfect world, it would be possible to ship fresh kava root to people all over the world, the fresh root does not keep well once it has come out of the ground, making it almost completely impossible to ship safely. On the other hand, dried kava root that is powdered will last for over two years, while dried kava root that has been minimally processed will keep for much longer. Therefore, the preferred method of kava exporters is to sell the dried root rather than trying to deal with all of the complications of shipping the root fresh.

Nevertheless, I want to take a moment to extol the many virtues of fresh kava root, in order to ensure that if any of you ever have the opportunity to work with the fresh root you take it without hesitation. First of all, fresh kava root will almost always be more potent than its dried counterpart, and it will also most likely taste sweeter, as well. It can be difficult to know when buying dried kava root how old it really is - some companies likely leave their dried root sitting on shelves for months, even years - but with fresh kava, you can be assured that it was just harvested. Furthermore, the young lateral roots of kava are known to taste much sweeter than the older taproot of the plant, probably due to different alkaloid contents in the lateral and vertical roots of the plant. When you buy the fresh root, you know exactly what type of kava root you are receiving, as well as what strain it is. This extra level of control will allow you to craft the type of kava experience you really want to have. A final benefit of fresh kava root is that traditional Pacific kava ceremonies always utilize fresh roots, so if you want to experience the real spirit of the kava plant, fresh root is definitely the way to go.

If you do not live in a Kava growing area, and if you cannot foresee a future in which you might have the chance to visit one, don't feel discouraged. I still have good news for you. With a little bit of conscious effort, it is absolutely possible to make your dried kava root experience as close to 'fresh' as possible! The most important thing is to find a supplier that offers high quality dried kava that has not been sitting around for too long. Now, no company is going to admit to selling stale kava, so here are some tips for figuring out which kava supplier is the best:

1. Try to buy your kava direct from a farm, if possible. Kava farms sell to retail outlets and kava bars as well as individuals, and therefore tend to have a much higher turnover rate than retailers. Therefore, kava purchased directly from a farm tends to be much fresher. Fortunately, there are plenty of kava farms who will sell directly to you over the internet.

2. The more details a kava seller provides about the kava, the better. Look for mentions of the specific strain that is being used, where the kava is grown, even kavalactone content! There are many types of kava, and this information will help you to discover what types are the most effective for you.

3. Finally, a great way to determine if your batch of dried kava is potent is to notice whether the prepared kava beverage numbs the insides of your mouth and your tongue. The more numbing quality you experience, the more kavalactones are likely to be present in the dried kava.

By using these tips and doing a little research, you will be able to create a dried kava experience that is as close as possible to the fresh kava experience. And if you are ever in a Pacific island region, make a point of searching out some fresh kava root - you won't regret it!

Kona Kava Farm ships worldwide and offers safe, effective, and unusually potent Kava made only from the roots of our organic-certified, estate-grown plants. Are You Stressed To The Max? Then Get Help Here!

You should try and keep the stress in your life under control. You can cause yourself serious problems like heart disease, insomnia, muscle aches and depression if you are stressed. If you get enough sleep, you will reduce your stress level, and find it easier to stay in good shape and stay healthy.

While video games and other hobbies can typically be very relaxing, if you find yourself becoming frustrated then you should put it down. You should clear your head and let yourself relax, do not give into stressful feelings or frustration.

Surprisingly, getting better organized can reduce stress. A common cause of stress can be clutter, an inability to find things, or even procrastination. Stay organized; your stress level will decrease when you feel in control.

No matter the source of your stress, you always want to think positively. If you are thinking negatively then things will seem much worse then they really are. Every problem that is eliminated can be quickly replaced by the next one. A positive focus on your life will enable you to live it in a positive and happy way, with stress kept well and truly under control.

Give stress relief tonics a try. Homeopathy could help you reduce your stress. These remedies are absolutely safe and can be very efficient. There are some herbs (Kava is one of them) that have been found to be just as effective as Xanax (alprazolam) in helping people relax and stay calm.

Music can sooth the savage beast that is stress. It is commonly known that music therapy can cut down on stress if you find the music relaxing and soothing. So choose music that works well to relieve your own stress, because what might be soothing to one person, might not be the right stress reliever for you. Listening to music you like will cause your brain to release serotonin, which will make you feel calm and happier.

The first step to getting a grip on your stress level is to take an analytical look at how you could improve your methods of dealing with it. Try recording your responses to stressful situations over a period of a month or so. Looking closely at your reactions to times of high stress can help you to self-analyze whether you are using appropriate means of fighting it. If the way you handled stress only made things worse, you can seek new ways to manage stress in your life.

When someone is giving you directions or instructions, you will be less stressed later if you pay close attention the first time. In order to relieve stress, always be sure to listen attentively when instructions are given. For example, when your doctor gives you advice, or when a teacher lectures in class, paying attention will help you retain important information.

Music is a great stress reliever. In fact, the effect of music is powerful and strong. Science has shown that listening to music has a calming effect on the body. People's musical tastes differ widely; you need to figure out what sort of music works to calm you down and help you relax.

Calming scents can melt the stress away. Smelling soothing things, such as peppermint, rose, thyme, lavender, bay leaves, and eucalyptus, will relax you. In a small container you can add some popular scented oils and a bit of rock salt to create your own aromatherapy. Whenever stress starts to overtake you, just smell one of your favorite aromas.

Working for a living is hard enough without having to be stressed out while doing it. Stress causes many problems such as weight gain, premature aging, and can damage your relationships. Take the advice you've learned here and put it into practice to battle your stress successfully! Providing quality counselling articles, hynotherapy writings and other mind help resources online.

7 Activities to Help Reduce Your Stress

So many of us are on an epic journey to seek a variety of tools for quick stress reduction. Finding and sustaining some level of inner peace and harmony on a daily basis seems to be more challenging everyday. Many of these stressors we create; others are imposed upon us. We work too many hours, even on the weekend. We're constantly checking our emails, text messages, social media accounts and voice-mails. We stress out about our finances. We stress out about our work loads. We stress out about the future, forgetting to stay in the moment. Keep in mind, the media is not in the business of making you feel good. Likewise, friends, family, co-workers or business partners who feed on drama and the misfortune of others contribute additional stress and disharmony to your life; it can be very difficult to get away from it.

The good news is there things we can do to minimize the impact of daily stresses on our minds, bodies and spirits and when done continuously, really does work. This stuff is probably already things that you know about, however, if you don't employ them, what good are they going to do for you? Remember that wherever you go, there you are and so is your stress. It's very difficult to enjoy the moment of wherever you are if you're so highly agitated that you're unable to do so. You have to be able to get your head above water to take a breath. When you're bunched emotionally, making clear-headed decisions become challenging to impossible. What follows are 7 simple activities in which each are powerful in their own right.

1. Gentle Deep Breathing. When we are emotionally triggered in unpleasant ways, which is more often than not, we tend to hold our breath, effectively locking the breath and the emotion, up in our body. This causes toxicity and is the root cause of most dis-ease and illness. Your very life depends on your willingness to breathe with awareness and use all of your lung capacity. Conscious breathing refocuses your attention from the outer world to your inner world, reducing tension and stress. Several effective calming breathing techniques include alternate nostril breathing, left nostril breathing, the 4-7-8 count breath and deep breathing in the yogic corpse position. Do your due diligence and research before attempting.

2. Ground. Grounding is as essential as breathing. This activity keeps you energetically rooted to the earth, which is important when you feel overwhelmed and for many of us, this is an everyday occurrence. Grounding can help you feel "solid", strong and resolved. When you forget to ground, you may feel as you're being tossed around like some tiny rowboat at sea during a typhoon. Get bruised enough and you'll start to remember to anchor yourself. There are a number of ways to ground, but here's a quick one for you to do: (Do not do this while driving) Get somewhere quiet and close your eyes. Breathe deeply several times in through your nose and out through your mouth. Imagine a huge column of white light coming in through the top of your head and down through your body, out the bottom of your feet and into the earth. Do this for several breaths. Next, imagine a great tree: your legs are the trunk and they go deep into the earth. Do this for several more breaths. Continue the imagery and breathing until you feel calmer and more relaxed.

3. Shake or dance. You can either do this in public or in private just as long as you move. Energy is active, kinetic and requires movement. When we are feeling heavy and stagnant it is because our bodies are telling us it has too many energy blocks and it needs to move. Move freely and unrestricted, allowing your body to express full-range of motion. Make sure you breathe while you're doing this. Have fun! This activity disperses stagnant energy, wakes up the body and dissolves tension.

4. Listen to soothing music, chimes, singing bowls or running water. Some people relax through sound and vibration. When our fight or flight centers get activated through stress, which unfortunately for most of us is chronic, we have a hard time coming down and getting rid of the excess energy. These sounds can help to reduce the agitation of the sympathetic nervous system, which when activated by stress, releases adrenaline and lactic acid into the body; this is no bueno, especially when done over a long period of time. Listen to one or more of these sounds and breathe deeply at the same time. In through your nose and out through your mouth. Just listening to these sounds can have a profound effect on your emotions and your central nervous system. My favorite relaxing sound: listening to the sound of a rain storm.

5. Scream. Sounds simple enough right? Screaming can be a powerful eliminator of tension. However, DO NOT DO THESE WHILE DRIVING. You might actually pass out from the temporary increase in your blood pressure, especially if it's already high from stress. Screaming out your frustrations gives you an opportunity to again, kinetically move that stuck energy and give your voice when you can't say what you want. Another technique that works very well is called "HA" breathing. If screaming doesn't appeal to you, forcefully breathe out while saying "HA!" Breathe in through your nose and HA through your mouth.

6. Cry. This is one of the most underused forms of releasing stress. Crying is mistakenly seen as a form of weakness. Crying has a very powerful effect on the body as it releases extra stress hormones from the body and helps the body dump toxins associated with holding on to anger and frustration. When you have one of those days when it all just becomes too much, instead of engaging in a numbing activity that involves eating junk, drinking alcohol or taking some kind of drug, which just shoves it down further until it comes back in the form of an illness or disease, just find a quiet place where you can be alone and just have a good cry. You'll feel a whole lot better when you're done.

7. Herbal teas. There are several herbal teas out there that are well-known for having a sedative effect on the CNS and lowering stress, which can affect the quality of our sleep, a key component for reducing stress: getting enough sleep. Chamomile and Lavender tea, which can both be steeped directly from the flowers and seeds, are excellent at soothing the nervous system. Ginseng tea is another great herb which clears away that bunched feeling that comes from mental exhaustion and insomnia. You can also try Valerian, which is another great tea for helping you get to sleep and we all know that a lack of proper sleep just adds to our stress levels.

These are just a few suggestions that can be applied just about anywhere and at anytime. Most of them are free; herbal tea does not cost very much, little goes a long way and it can be carried with you anywhere where you can get hot water.

Long-term chronic stress has, unfortunately, become a way of life for most of us and we have an obligation to ourselves to find ways to reduce or even eliminate it. People have made radical changes to their lives in order to regain control of a life that has gone rogue because of stress.

When used regularly, these grounding and centering activities will have positive, far-reaching effects on your body, mind and spirit.

Coping With Stress In The Feeble Pursuit Of Happiness

You will never live a perfectly happy life. There are always unfulfilled dreams, wishes, and promises. There are many times of frustrations. There are tensions. We suffer from the torment of living an insufficient life; there is no completion in this life. This isn't to bring you down - au contraire! Read onward my friend.

Yes, we all want to be happy. We do ridiculous things we believe will make us happy. We spend sums of money, we go into debt, we take pills, we tell lies, we avoid people, we break the law... we do undefinable acts, believe illogical ideas, follow irrational people just so we can have a few moments of happiness. Then we repeat the unrepeatable!

But you are pursuing the weak emotion of happiness because you have never-ending streams of stress, called life, interfering with your pursuit.

So how can you be happy?

This is the second question to ask. Your first question to ask yourself is: "Is my life meaningful?" Yes, is there meaning in your life? Is there meaning in your job or occupation? Is there meaning in your marriage? Is there meaning in your relationships with your family and friends? Do you find meaning in an ordinary day on planet earth?

True, you may find happiness sprinkled throughout your days but you will mostly focus on your stresses if you don't pursue your meaning and what's really meaningful to you.

When you define what is meaningful the attraction to pursue happiness becomes less significant. I will go so far to say that when you pursue meaning, happiness may be unimportant.

If your life stresses are overwhelming they will become the major reasons you are trying to pursue happiness just so you can avoid them.

We often fantasize what it would take for us to be happy. We want to live in a bubble so we would be free from pressures, tiredness, physical pain, relationship problems, financial worry, bad jobs, and bad people.

Pursuing happiness suggests that one day you will have everything perfect and that you will be content; perfect health, the perfect spouse, completely fulfilled relationships, the perfect job, no anxiety, no disappointments, and all the money and time to enjoy the good life. But this will never happen. Happiness won't stay very long when any of these things happen.

You may not be able to cope with much of your stresses now because you are approaching this entire idea from a self-destructive angle. In fact, you may be focusing on the most destructive recipe of avoiding stress and attempting to pursue happiness. This is insanity!

Do this. Separate the two: stress and meaning. Forget about happiness, it will come as a result of defining stress and meaning. I mean it; stop trying to pursue happiness.

First, stress. Where is it in your life? This should be easy. Stress comes from several major sources: physical, nutritional, and emotional. There are minor stresses like gravity, thermal, electromagnetic, but let's talk about these some other time.

Determine from these three where the majority of stress is coming from. Really define the specifics about it as if you were telling a friend that is a little hard of hearing and not too bright. Explain it so well that anyone can understand your stress and what you're going through.

Next, meaning. What is your meaning in this area of stress in your life? Is it what it should or could be? I bet your meaning is a little deflated in this area. I could be wrong about you but I bet I'm pretty close to target.

Here's what I mean. Take a stress like a relationship going bad with your parent. Is this reasonable enough? Let's say your mom stresses you out. You would just like to be happy, of course but she makes you feel unhappy (worthless, childlike, abandoned... ). In attempt to be happy, you pursue things that take you away from her and toward other pleasantries (it doesn't matter what they are, well, it does matter but not for my illustration).

Instead I want you to focus your attention to the meaning of your relationship you have with your mother (or whatever example of stress you are using). How clearly defined is your meaning here? Is the meaning of your relationship with her to make yourself happy or is it something else, something deeper, richer, or interdependent?

If your meaning is weak your happiness will be weak. If your meaning is strong, your happiness won't matter. You are not pursuing happiness in this case (or for any other stress in your life) you are pursuing meaning which will far outlast happiness.

Get clear on your meaning in each area of stress in your life. You can better cope with stress by first defining it and then attaching a stronger meaning to it, a meaning that makes you happy.

Meaning is true happiness. A life that is pursued for meaning will sustain happiness. What is meaningful in your life? What area of your life are you striving to find meaning in?

Find meaning in life. Your stresses will begin to dissolve and your happiness will fill the void.

Life of Possibility Vs Life of Limitation

It is Monday and I am sitting by the water, typing and listening to the waves rolling onto the rocky shore, while taking in the fresh air. I'm sitting on a book by Dr. Peter Levine - In An Unspoken Voice, so my butt doesn't get sore sitting on the rocks. My dog is sniffing in the trees, looking for something either to chase or eat, or um... both.

This is my Monday! My Mondays didn't always look like this, but they are more and more reflecting the nurture and luscious living I have craved for years.

I just finished reading a section from Peter's book that fits well with what I am experiencing...

"When [Einstein] was asked what he thought would be the next great breakthrough in science, Einstein pondered for a moment and then replied: "To prove that the universe is friendly." He did not mean, I believe, that there would not ever be pain and suffering in life, but that the universe was, well... Playful, wonderful and fascinating. " ~ Dr. Peter Levine, In An Unspoken Voice, 2010, pg. 280.

I shared with someone the other day that money is here to support and nourish us, like food and water it is our ally, not our enemy. He was uncomfortable with that point of view ~ because to him, money was to be controlled, managed and taken seriously. He had linked money to his survival, creating a very deep powerless feeling inside of him. Which he compensated for by controlling, and in doing so he was always at the mercy of money. It was either his savior or his jailer. He gave the illusion of money is power.

What area(s) of life are you giving your potency and your inborn intelligence away to? The same intelligence that goes into pumping your heart is what it going into creating your limitations. Would you be willing to re-integrate, re-own what is rightly yours ~ your aliveness?

I just pulled Peter's book from under my bum and saw another quote that is useful here:

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson.

When we take a breathe and engage ourselves at a sensation level, we create resilience and awareness and begin the re-integration process.

But the degree to which we cannot deeply feel our body's interior is the degree to which we crave external stimulation. Addictions to drama, food, spiritual override, suffering, excess video games, over-spending, over-working, chronic negativity, intellectualization, mental rumination, relationship and exercise addictions, fixating on our limitations, etc. keeps us over stimulated and thus separate from the sacredness of the body and higher mind. If we continue to suppress, control or numb our bodies, it is going to be very difficult to feel our aliveness and as such become difficult, if not impossible, to break free of our limitations and create a life that honours.

The less the body is experienced as a living entity, the more it becomes an object. The less it is owned, the further it is divorced from anything having to do with one's core sense of self." Dr. Peter Levine, In An Unspoken Voice, 2010, Pg. 285.

If you are overwhelmed by addressing your areas of limitation, lovingly start by cleaning up your addictions. Everything is birthed from this place. Do not think that by breaking free of your addictions and feeling into what-is, that that is all you are doing. You are beginning the process of reclaiming your life and asserting your value. It is an act of Self Love like no other. Welcome it and encourage it.

The Bliss or Misconception of Tantra

Blessings

May I ask you to open your mind to a different way of connecting with yourself and your partner.

I believe Tantra to essentially be a beautiful expression of love and spirit. Tantra uses the most powerful energy we as human shells possess, our vital life-creating or sex energy, to unblock your energy centres and awaken your spirit. A teacher once described it as creating poetry with your soul. I am fully conscious of my views requiring you to think beyond the tangible and to believe in the great Divine but the universe asks for us to at least attempt change than to do nothing.

Tantra has often been synonymous with promiscuity and licentious behaviour and I wish to ask you to open your heart to the possibility of including your spirit when connecting physically with yourself or your lover. Many practitioners focus on the physical constraints of achieving multiple orgasms and prolonged sensual play and I respect your path if that is what you choose. I support the use of orgasmic release to expel negative energy from your body but always within the foundation of trust, respect and a loving relationship. Many attempt to fill the void within their lives with immediate sexual gratification and these experiences usually drains the energy of the human self when that lustful connection does not honour you nor your partner. Life is exhausting and challenging and wanting to feel good and denying your current pain instead of enduring is easy but in truth these moments do not feed your soul but devour your joy. I have encountered many displaced souls who would rather choose an orgasm with someone for whom there is no true affection than acknowledge their own pain and cry. They become shadows embittered within this cycle of self-flagellation. Choosing truth over pleasure is not easy and yet the bliss that is felt with someone who loves and honours you as you love and honour them is truly a miracle. Sharing yourself in love is beautiful and it cannot be created unconsciously. I pray your path will ask you to conceptualise a deeper connection between your own spirit and another's. I pray your path will lead you to trusting your truth, body and heart with the Supreme. I pray your path will lead you to sharing your energy with love. I pray you will find your own inner bliss amidst all the misconceptions that is Tantra.

May your inner light guide you along your path.

Always with love
Jade

May I invite you to relax under my gentle touch to ignite the fire within and move the energies within your entire body towards the rejuvenation of your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

May I ask you to undertake this healing journey to unblock any chakras that may inhibit your experience of bliss and spiritual growth. My intention is to create a safe haven to nourish your spirit without judgement, fear or pain. My intention is to open your heart to love, to appreciate intimacy and feel harmony within your spirit.

On The Usefulness Of Classifying Dreams

My purpose in writing this article is two-fold; to encourage the development of a universally accepted model of dreams -including purpose, meaning and language- and; to encourage the cooperation and sharing of information on a wider, freer platform that isn't restricted to peer-reviewed publications or primarily published works.

Over the years it's been suggested, by a number of individuals, from various disciplines, who work with dreams, that it would be beneficial and useful to sort dreams into some kind of system. This idea evolved into the classification or organization of dreams into types, or themes. Based on the work of a few prominent dream researchers, we now have twelve basic types, classifications or dream themes, with each type having both a positive and negative meaning (resulting in 24 rather than 12 types of dreams). It's been strongly suggested that we can develop a clearer, more specific form of dream analysis and interpretation through these classifications and do so without adhering to any one theory.

From the beginning, science has expanded, progressed and proliferated primarily by the observation, collection and naming of data whether in the form of specimens or information. Whether observing the thousands of species of beetles on the planet, the trillions of stars in the sky, or the hundreds of fragments of bone in the earth, researchers collect the data or specimen then proceed to organize them into some logical system. They usually sorts them into groups of similarities and differences. The data is then named, numbered and analyzed. This process allows for other researchers to work with the same set of data and reproduce or continue working in the same area with the expectation of gaining understanding and cohesion in studies and experiments. Once all this work has begun and patterns or anomalies observed, a theory or theories are developed to help explain the findings.

Through the past century or so, we've actually learned quite a bit about the mechanics or dreams. We've discovered that:

• REM (rapid eye movement) is associated with dreaming (though not solely);

• We've learned that dreams progress through different stages throughout the sleep cycle;

• We now know that different states cycle throughout the night

• We can now observe the different brainwave patterns during different states of sleep and wakefulness;

• And we think we understand at least some of the physiology of dreaming.

However, in all this flurry of activity and discovery, we're no closer to understanding the purpose or meaning of our dreams. As a science, or even as an art, dream analysis or interpretation is still stuck in the stone ages. Many dream experts argue that this is because we, as dream workers, haven't organized and shared our combined knowledge about dreams and their vast array of subjects, images and symbols.

Sadly, though, we, as a discipline, are stuck at the stage or level of specimen/data collection. We've amassed a mind-boggling amount of information on the images, emotions, symbols and subjects of dreams, but we haven't been able to organize this information into any agreed upon theory or system from which to work from. Because of this, we're unable to corroborate each others' findings or observations and settle on a definitive answer as to what purpose dreams hold or even what they mean.

This work has been attempted by other prominent dream workers, such as Hall, Van de Castle, Garfield, Ross and others. For example, a universal classification system was developed by Patricia Garfield, Ph.D., but unfortunately this or other similar systems haven't been widely accepted or used. The nearest we have to a generally accepted classification (or coding) system is that developed by Calvin Hall and Robert Van de Castle way back in 1966. Like most research-based scoring systems including personality, psychology and other systems, it's helpful for the quantitative collection of data but excludes the individual dream and dreamer. You can code a dream down to its last period, but it's not going to help a dreamer understand what the dreams message is.

With both the Hall and Van de Castle Content Analysis System and Patricia Garfield's Universal Classification System (and other lesser known systems), the suggestion is that dreams can be broken down to their parts and understood this way. This is similar to the physics paradigm; by smashing particles into ever smaller units, the belief is that they'll be able to understand the whole of the universe and thus reality. Modern scientists always tend to follow this reductionistic approach. In personality psychology, researchers have continued to whittle down the number of personality traits we humans have from the original 116 characteristics observed in the last century all the way down to two. However, the early personality researchers realised that this was too simplistic, so the majority of them settled on five. Do you think 5 personality traits are enough to define who you are? The point I'm trying to make here is that the same is happening with dream research. Dream workers try to reduce what they're studying to its most basic structure or function and expect to understand the whole.

The paramount question I have is this: Can dreams even be classified? Granted, dreamers around the world have similar dreams (universal dreams). And why shouldn't they? We're all human beings; we're all concerned with the same things -food, clothing, shelter, family, security and society. However, we also have concerns that are more personal, more egocentric and more subjective. There has to be a comfortable middle where not every single word of a written dream has to be analyzed, but has more points of analysis than just the general, overall theme. This is where my research has lead me. I'm trying to find the middle: where analysis isn't so detailed that every single sigh in a dream is analyzed, but detailed enough that more than just the examination of general actions or activities are taken into account.

The biggest oversight I've observed in dream work is that the majority of dream researchers fail to account for or even consider the dreamer behind the dream; the interaction between the imagery in the dream and the dreamer herself; or the response elicited or evoked from and throughout the dream experience. We have to consider the source before we can hope to understand the purpose or the meaning.

As research continues, eventually, I or another dream researcher, will get there. The question, however, is whether others will get on board.

Downshifting, Cultivating a Slow Life, a Full Life

The love of speed has become a progressive obsession. When people feel short on time, they look for ways to speed up the things they already do. This constant acceleration comes at cost. The pressure to go faster can reduce the quality of the behavior or activity. Over time, you begin to forget how to go slower, and that is a high price to pay.

A rushed life is superficial by necessity. You only allow enough time to skim the surface and this leaves no time for real connection with people or the activity itself. While you may get more done, less enjoyment is yielded from your efforts. Rushing through life cheats you of its deeper meaning and beauty. The things that bind people together and make life rich, such as family, friendship and community, all thrive on time. When people fail to make time for these connections, they lose touch with them. This creates disconnected isolated lives, in the midst of unending opportunity for connection.

Today you can have thousands of connections all over the world; however, you still only have the same amount of time. How many of those connections can be meaningful if they are not nurtured with ones time? It seems that people who live life fast, unwittingly trade depth for breadth. Is this cult of speed, akin to making a deal with the devil? You can have it all; you just won't really enjoy any of it...

Downshifting to a slower pace allows time for doing nothing, being with friends, daydreaming, and reflection. It is a challenge to shut out distractions and to be alone with ones thoughts. A challenge because distractions are plentiful and because it has been so long since doing so, that it is almost uncomfortable to be without stimulation. Where would your thoughts go if they were not challenged by the latest distraction? If you are not sure, try it and find out. That is downshifting; taking small steps in the direction of slowing the pace at which you tackle life.

Test yourself. When was the last time you read an entire article, book, or even an email? Skim, reduce and summarize is the fast life way. However, what is missed when you do not take time for the full picture? Occasionally this is necessary or timely, but when it becomes the norm, you may be facing life stuck in high gear. This means that even when you do have more time, you do not use it to go deeper; you use it to take on more activity in the same shallow manner. This results in a partial, superficial understanding of many topics.

In the age of the sound bite and twitter, people feel free to share what they think, however it often comes from a shallow knowledge base. No longer are people taking time to evaluate their core beliefs or values and how that affects the opinions they form. There is a lack of fully researching subjects before commenting on them. Today, anyone with a computer or cell phone can be an "expert" on a subject.

People today bounce from one hot button topic to the next, sharing their limited point of view. In turn, others begin to form their opinions based on those summaries. It becomes easy to see how opinions can become skewed away from the true heart of an issue. Like the telephone game played as children, the original message is lost, due to sharing through multiple people, what was only partially heard.

Going back to the days of living slow by necessity, is not the goal of Downshifting. The purpose is to live a better, more fulfilling life in the midst of this fast-paced modern world. It places value on slowing down the pace of life and spending time meaningfully, while not spending money wastefully.

To begin downshifting, is to become aware of ones relationship with time and to seek balance. To be easily adaptable, fast when it makes sense to be fast and slow when life can be better savored through slowness. This right speed or tempo giusto as musicians would call it, is a personal choice. It requires finding what is important to you and ensuring you honor that in the way you use your time.

Carl Petrini, the Italian founder of Slow Food, may have said it best, "Being Slow means that you control the rhythms of your own life. What we are fighting for is the right to determine our own tempos." Downshifting allows you to find that tempo giusto, and discover your unique balance of self-nurture, work and home life. It means taking time for what matters and not spreading yourself so thin that you fail to enjoy connections that are at the heart of vibrant living. If your lifestyle is wearing you down, consider downshifting as a way to regain the vital connections that will restore you.

10 Healthy Ways to Get in a Better Mood

Listen to music- Music can be a powerful tool; it can break you out of a funk with lyrics that speak to your soul or an upbeat tempo that makes you want to dance. Turn on your favorite song or band and get lost in the music to help your worries melt away.

Add a pop of color- Studies show that certain colors boost our mood and can make us feel better just by looking at them. Change up your wardrobe by throwing on a bright colored shirt, or add a small accent like a scarf or socks that will make you feel happy. The best ones? Yellow and red, experts say.

Tap into your spiritual side- Even if you don't consider yourself religious, focusing on something larger than yourself can make your troubles seem a lot smaller. Sit alone in the quiet and meditate for a while, say a prayer to yourself, or read an inspirational story. This will instantly boost your mood.

Take in some natural light- Sunlight triggers the production of Vitamin D in our bodies that can help boost our feelings of well-being immensely. Lack of Vitamin D has been linked to depression in several studies. Basking in the sun (with sunblock on) for just 10 to 20 minutes can put you in a better mood.

Be generous- Doing something for someone else doesn't just send out good vibes, it can be a great way to make you feel better. Get a joyful feeling by making a small, unexpected gesture to a complete stranger. Pay for the coffee of the person behind you, help carry the groceries of an elderly person to their car, or give a homeless person some spare change or leftovers. Seeing a smile on another's face will put one on yours as well.

Exercise- Even if you just go for a short 30-minute walk around the neighborhood, exercise has been proven to bring on feelings of well-being. This article from http://balanceddaily.com lists exercise as one of the top 10 natural mood boosters. It will not only increase your energy to make you feel better, it will release endorphins in your brain; the "feel-good" chemical responsible for pleasure and joy.

Nurture yourself- Take a little time to pamper yourself and make yourself feel good. Take a soothing bubble bath, paint your nails a pretty color, or set some time aside to take a small nap. Making yourself a priority and spending a little "you" time will push those other negative thoughts aside.

Stop and smell the roses- Numerous studies have proven that a certain scent, like lavender, can relieve feelings of anxiety and tension. Light a candle in the room you're in, or rub on some lotion that has a smell you love. Instantly boost your mood by triggering one of our most sensitive senses.

Call a friend or relative- Sometimes all you need to do to feel better, is get all of your negative thoughts off of your chest. Vent a little to someone you know is a great listener and gives good advice. Having others understand how you're feeling and allow you to talk about your feelings can do wonders for a bad mood.

Break out of the box- Doing something unexpected to break out of your ordinary routine, can make you feel happy and upbeat. Often times we can get stuck in a rut that seem never-ending. Small novelty's like whip cream to top your coffee, or a fun new ringtone for when your phone goes off can make you feel great.

My Happy Pace

I am currently training for the Run Like Hell 1/2 Marathon in Portland Oregon and the Disney Full Marathon. Today's run was a 9.5 mile run. I had been asked by friends to go out dancing last night. As much as I wanted to, I knew I wouldn't be at my absolute best, or that I wouldn't make the run in the first place if I went out. I stayed home, hydrated, and went to bed early.

At 4:30am the alarm clock went off. I have always been an early riser. Something about getting up before sunlight is so zen to me. I love that my son and husband are sleeping peacefully at this hour so I'm not missing out on precious time with them. I prepared a shake and my coffee and filled my water bottles. I made sure to put Glide on, but found out after the run I missed a few places, yikes! Tip for the ladies- make sure you have an awesome sports bra and make sure to Glide around the band area.

Once I got to the beach I stopped in the gas station to make my traditional bathroom stop. Does anyone else have to pee the second they start to run? It never fails, I always have to pee before a run no matter how much fluid I've had. It must be nerves.

While I ran I listened to a podcast and took in all the inspiration and motivation. One of the speakers spoke about when he does a triathlon he carries a photo with him and dedicates the race to someone. When he crosses the finish line, he crosses twice. Once holding up the photo of the person he dedicated the race to and once for himself. It made me think of people in my life who I would dedicate a race to and the reasons why. It also made me think about my goal of wanting to complete an Iron Man competition someday.

At mile 4 I turned off my iPod and just ran. I looked around at our beautiful beaches and felt so grateful to be running in such a stunning environment. At mile 5 the run started to get tough. I had to walk quite a bit. I had a decent pace the entire run but the periods of walking quickly added up and slowed my pace down significantly. I started to let negative thoughts creep in, but quickly replaced them with positive thoughts. Beating myself up would not make me run any faster. I started to think about how proud I was for turning down a night out to ensure I stuck to my goals. I thought about how so many people don't stick with running long enough to even allow themselves to build this kind of distance. I thought about how this run was helping me reach several different goals. I took time to envision myself reaching those goals. I reflected on when I first got back into running again and how it felt impossible to run 30 minutes. I appreciate the progress I have made.

In the middle of my thoughts I ran into my business partner and client. I stopped and talked to her for a minute. I continued to run and a woman ran up beside me. We started talking about our shoes and I found out she is also from Washington State. She trains all the time for different events but one of them she is training for is the Goofy in Disney. I have done this run before. You run a 1/2 marathon Saturday and a full marathon Sunday. This year I will be doing just the full marathon. It was so nice to run with her and get to know her. She ran ahead and I competed my run.

I love that when you run you have so much time to reflect on many different area's of your life, that you can meet people who are just like you, and that you get healthy in the process.

If you are just starting a running program, a new workout, a nutrition plan, or a new business venture- please hold steady. Don't give up. It is consistent actions overtime that will bring you to your goals. If I would have given up because a 30 minute run was tough, I never would have been running 9.5 miles this morning. When you reach your goals you will set new goals. What you gain in the process is so much more important. You are going to have runs that are super slow and painful. You will have a week or two, or three where business is slow. You will cheat on your nutrition plan when you shouldn't. Someone will be faster, skinnier, stronger, or make more money than you. It's okay. The journey is yours.

Work on YOU. Take consistent actions. Challenge yourself. Get uncomfortable. Do things that scare you. Count your blessings. Do not ever give up on your dreams. Find solutions. We are all a work in progress. Don't focus on other people, your competition, or give thought to what people might think.

Focus on becoming the absolute best version of yourself that you can be and everything else will fall into place.

To your health,

Jessica Summerall

Thinking About Giving Up?

Too often people look at their situations and give up too early. They have no idea, just when things get the hardest, this is exactly when that miraculous shift can happen. Whatever is in the way, will disappear.

However, you must believe this can happen.

No matter what adversity you are facing, it's important to remember the quote by Lawrence Peter "Yogi" Berra, a former American Major League Baseball catcher, outfielder, and manager who once said,

"It Ain't Over Until It's Over."

In other words, don't give up five minutes before the miracle. Whether it's your business, your health, or personal life, difficult challenges can make you feel like throwing in the towel.

However, this is the time when it's important to:

Turn away from fearHave faithRelease the made-up stories in your head Focus on the here and nowDo what is in front of you to do

By focusing on the here and now, you are able to release stress and anxiety. This is living Mindfully, in the moment. And, this is where you can find peace, clarity, and wisdom that you can tap into.

Taking the time to sit in the quiet, will allow you to see whatever is blocking you from your good. This is the opportunity to tune into your thoughts and hear those self- defeating phrases you may be telling yourself over and over.

Getting angry and upset over negative internal babble is not helpful. So, just let it go. Watch the thoughts like passing clouds without getting attached to the dialogue.

This is the way to live mindfully and it will help you to focus. Soon, you'll notice those self-destructive thoughts will come less and less. And, it's place will come solutions for you to rise up over any challenge you are facing.

In the current battle for the NBA Championship, the Miami Heat team is up 3-1 in this title series over the Oklahoma City Thunder team in Game 5 of the finals. Oklahoma must continue to play harder than ever. They can't give up even though sports announcers are claiming that no team has ever come back after losing three games in a row.

They can't listen to doubters or naysayers, because they will start believing they can't come back. They need all of their energy to focus on their game.

Whatever you are facing, keep believing. Refuse to give up. Know that whatever happens after you have given your best, your life is unfolding for your highest good.

Remember, "It ain't over until it's over." ~ Yogi Berra, elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

When Life Deals You a Tough Hand of ACEs

Last month I presented a lecture at Bastyr University addressing the relationship and causality between emotions and physical pain. I supported and addressed the use of non-pharmaceutical energetic methods for reducing and eliminating pain. By learning to unhook or rewire painful memories and associations in the brain, one can work in tandem with physical interventions like chiropractic to effectively resolve even long term chronic pain. For some, this would be an outrageous suggestion. For the room of people interested in Energy Medicine, this was a given and they were ecstatic to see that there was scientific evidence behind this perspective.

It is much easier and less complicated to believe that our physical symptoms or diseases are a direct result of purely physical causes - that makes sense to us. It is a paradigm that is influenced by our current model of disease causation. For example, if I eat too much fried fatty food I am likely to get hypertension and heart disease as a result. Genetic disease causality resulted in the human genome project being launched in part because of the idea that if we can name each gene and chromosome we might create early disease prevention with respect to diseases we are destined to have, and then we could manipulate that bad chromosome and voila, no disease!

Slow down I say! A new study shows that when twin's genetic makeup was studied with respect to genetic markers for disease and they were as likely as not to manifest the predicted conditions that they were "genetically determined to be susceptible". So if genes are not reliable as a measurement for disease, is there a more accurate predictor?

This might come as a surprise, but in the 1990's a highly accurate prognostic determiner of future conditions was discovered. It has a very strong statistical correlation between things that occurred in a person's childhood which resulted in brain changes that resulted in a wide variety of physical traits, habits and physical conditions later in life. Repeated studies have supported this idea.

The idea that a child's exposure to painful childhood traumatic events, also known as Adverse Childhood Experiences, (ACEs), was incredibly reliable in predicting major pathological conditions as an adult. The initial phase of the ACE Study was conducted at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego from 1995 to 1997 with more than 17,000 participants. These ACEs include exposure to nine situations: childhood physical, emotional or sexual abuse, witnessing domestic violence of mother, neglect, exposure to family mental illness, alcohol or drug abuse, family member incarceration or loss of a parent due to death or abandonment; including possible abandonment associated with divorce.

The most fascinating aspect of this research is that there are very specific brain structures that are more susceptible to emotionally triggered physical functional harm and trauma at very specific ages. For example the corpus callosum is the part of the brain that connects the right and left brain hemispheres and regulates negative emotions, processes social cues and promotes learning. It has been shown to be vulnerable to infant neglect and sexual abuse trauma and results in an increased vulnerability to post traumatic stress syndrome.

The cerebellar vermis is a part of the brain that regulates attention, is one of the few areas of the brain that can grow new nerve cells after birth and regulates our ability to hold focused attention. It has been found to be strongly affected by all types of maltreatment before the age of nine. Damage to this area often results in attention deficit problems and a tendency for a body to produce higher cortisol stress hormone levels.

The higher the number of these ACEs, the stronger and more direct a relationship with the many of the following: alcoholism and alcohol abuse, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), depression, fetal death, health-related quality of life, Illicit drug use, Ischemic heart disease (IHD), Liver disease, Risk for intimate partner violence, Multiple sexual partners, Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), Smoking, suicide attempts, unintended pregnancies, early initiation of smoking, early initiation of sexual activity and adolescent pregnancy.

I highlighted certain conditions that most people would perceive as predominantly physical or chemical conditions not necessarily resulting from emotionally stressful experiences.

To give you an idea of statistics, a person with zero ACEs has a 1 in 14 chance of having a heart attack. If they have 7 of the 9 categories experienced, their likelihood is 1 in 6 or two and a half times the risk. With nearly 25% of individuals studied having three or more ACEs, the acknowledgement of this important correlation could potentially save billions of health care dollars and thousands of lives in the US.

So what should we do once we understand that we cannot separate our emotionally stressful experiences from our physical conditions? As a physician it is important that with any patient that walks in my door, I must always open my perspective to look beyond the symptom and explanation that is offered as to what may seem the obvious cause of their ailment; especially in the cases of pain not directly associated to immediate injury. Some studies have shown health benefits simply by broaching the discussion with patients to discuss the connection between past emotional trauma and physical conditions. As a patient, it is worth being open to the idea that there may be a correlation and consider working to resolve past traumas as a form of preventive care that may save you from having to live through some very difficult and painful conditions that may be dormant or not currently symptomatic.

Finally, and most importantly if you are a parent, do not add guilt to the mix of what is already the world's hardest job, but just do everything within your control to affirm your children and realize that every loving comment and action that you offer them literally builds a healthier brain as a result. That, my friends, is something you can double down on!

Anything Is Possible: 3 Inspiring Examples of the Amazing Shapeshifting Ability of Our Bodies

Einstein said, "Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one." Quantum physics maintains that nothing is solid; everything is energy in motion, giving the appearance of solidity. It's the combined power of our intention, feeling, and imagination that shapes and reshapes our bodies and our lives. I love that reality is so play-doughy and malleable; it reassures me that anything is possible, including healing cancer.

I've been on a cancer journey for over 3 years and I'm a great believer in the healing power of intention. I was lying in my husband Tom's arms recently and we were meditating together, as we do every morning. I felt treasured, held, healed, and whole. I imagined carrying this same feeling to my future selves, visualizing myself morphing through my 60's, 70's, and 80's, seeing myself healthy and happy in my 80's, imagining high-fiving Tom and saying, "We made it to our 80's! And you're still cute," I tell him. "And you still have the body of a 20-year old," he tells me. (We can imagine anything we want :o)

Believing that this is possible makes it more possible. Therefore, to reinforce my belief, I've been gathering some profoundly inspirational examples of the magical, malleable, shape-shifting capability of our amazing bodies. I'd like to share 3 of these examples with you:

1. In Anita Moorjani's memoir, Dying To Be Me, she describes being in the hospital, unconscious, her organs shutting down, dying from the cancer that had spread throughout her body. While unconscious she had a remarkable near-death experience in which she learned many things about the meaning of life and was told she could go back to her body and live a purposeful life. Even though her body was ravaged, she was assured that she would regain total health. She decided to return to her body. In just a few weeks her condition rapidly improved until she was completely cancer-free. She writes, "That made me realize that nothing is solid (or real). We can change anything."

2. Here's another powerful example of our mind-blowing ability to instantly shift the makeup of our bodies. In her book, Your Body is Your Subconscious Mind, renowned neuroscientist, Dr. Candace Pert (you may remember her from the movie What the Bleep) writes about her research on multiple personality disorders, which shows that one personality may have a disease, such as diabetes, while another doesn't. One may be far-sighted while another is near-sighted. Some even have different colored eyes! It's the same body, but the emotions and beliefs of each personality change the molecular makeup of their body within seconds! She writes that instead of being solid, "Our bodies are more like flickering flames. They change with our emotional states."

3. Bestselling author Gregg Braden presented an astonishing video documenting a baseball-sized tumor in a woman's bladder disappearing in minutes. This was done in China by three practitioners who generated the feeling within themselves that the woman was already healed. The woman believed as well. During this focused and deeply felt intention, a sonogram shows the tumor disappearing in less than 3 minutes. The key is to feel and believe it as if it is already so. Just as Jesus promised, "All things whatsoever you pray and ask for, believe that you have received them, and you shall receive them." [Mark 11:24]

Every morning now I do my visualization meditation where I morph forwards in time, seeing myself vibrating in perfect health, love, and happiness; feeling and believing it as if it's already so.

It is never too late to heal our bodies and our lives. Is there an area of your life that is ready for some shape-shifting? Through the power of belief, imagination, and intention, anything is possible!

Pure Water for Amazing Health

Water is a critical part of our survival. Human beings are made up of 76% water, our blood is 84% water and blood plasma contains 96% water. Water helps to maintain the body's major functions such as elimination of waste and toxins, digestion and circulation. Cell repair and body temperature are so regulated by the amount of water present within the body. Without water, human beings will only live for around 10 days. It is the single most important thing for survival, next to air. The quality of water that we choose to drink is just as important.

The use of chemicals in the industry and agriculture has led to pollution of most water sources around the world. Chemicals and toxins have even been found in the polar icecaps and Arctic Ocean. This has significantly increased the amount of illnesses and diseases around the world as a result.

According to the EPA, there are over 700 chemicals in our drinking water. The interesting fact is that some of the most dangerous chemicals are intentionally added. Chlorine and fluoride are two of the most concerning.

Chlorine is added to water to eliminate dangerous organisms, which can make people ill. A by-product of chlorine is trihalomethanes, which accumulates in the body faster than the body can eliminate it. This build up has been linked to serious diseases such as cancer and can cause damage to the heart, lungs, kidneys and nervous system.

Fluoride was originally added to the drinking water to help reduce the incidence of tooth decay. It also has some devastating side effects such as damage to the heart, brain and kidneys. It has been linked to cancer, osteoporosis and behavioral disorders. The truth is that it makes little difference to tooth decay and the side effects far out way the benefits. The Key to Getting Motivated

No matter what your situation is, at some point in time you will be in need of some motivation or inspiration to move forward. It is absolutely inevitable for you to make it through life without the help of others, but where should you look? There are billions of people in this world, which ones should you look to for motivation? Who are the good role models?

There are many things to consider when looking for motivation. Is the person you are looking at in good standing? Do they have good morals and virtues? If yes, then they are probably a good start for your list. It also helps if you have a personal connection with the person, maybe something deeper than a casual greeting every now and then. What I mean is, look at people that you see every day, people like your family and friends. These are the people who will be the most effective as a source of motivation.

People like your parents or brothers and sisters are great motivators. Or maybe some one in your family is the creator of a new charity, they would be a great role model and someone to motivate you to also do well like them.

Maybe you have a successful uncle who made it big in the stock market, you should be talking to him trying to suck up as much knowledge as you can. You should take his success as a motivator and follow in his footsteps. Following a family member is one of the easiest things to do usually, because they are more than welcome to share some knowledge with another family member.

Also, if you are an athlete looking for motivation, look at some of the members of the older generation of your sport. For example, if you are a swimmer, you could look up to Michael Phelps or Mark Spitz, both of which were amazing athletes. Or you could look up to Ryan Lochte who is an up-and-comer challenging and sometimes beating Phelps.

If you take part in another sport, you should look for an athlete from your sport if you please. Basketball players could look up to some of the greats like Michael Jordan or LeBron James.

It really does not matter who you choose as your role model, it is as long as they help you accomplish your goal. It does not matter if they physically help you or just give you the motivation to complete whatever it is. The hardest part sometimes can be finding a motive, so look in these places next time you are stuck in a sticky situation.

7 Ways to Love Yourself

As human beings, we all have needs, needs such as care, affection, respect and especially love. We all want to be loved and most people spend a great amount of time waiting to be loved. Yet they wonder why it almost never comes their way. If it did, often times it leads to heartbreak. Waiting to receive love from others is not how the world works. To be able to receive love one must become lovable at first. And to become lovable one must know how to love themselves. This article will show you seven ways to love yourself.

1. Don't compare yourself to others. Comparing ourselves to others sometimes cannot be avoided. When we see someone who is more blessed we tend to wish that we could have the same things. This is good but only if you're seeking motivation so you can become better. But for some it leads to self-loathing or self-pity. If it leads to that then it would be really hard to love yourself. Only when you stop comparing yourself to others is the only way you can start loving yourself.

2. Stop seeking approval. We all seek approval from others especially from our family, friends and partner. It helps us decide on important matters and it is a good source of support. The only problem with constantly seeking for approval is that your decisions will always depend on others. That's not going to get you a lot of self-respect and you will end up miserable. When you need to decide on something such as a career change or something else that will change your life it is wise to seek advice from others but let go of the process of seeking approval. Just do it and be happy.

3. Believe that you can do it. It's really hard to love yourself if you don't believe that you can make things possible. Stop doubting yourself and gather the courage and confidence that you need if you want to achieve something. If you believe in yourself then you can do things that you thought was impossible. Life will become easier and well lived. In turn you will respect and love yourself.

4. Connect with yourself. Take some time to connect with your inner self. Find some alone time to reflect, feel what's in your heart and explore the contents of your mind. Meditation is one of the best ways. This will help you identify your weaknesses and the things that are preventing you to love yourself so you can change it. It will also help you find your strengths and realize the things that are admirable and loveable about you. Once you've found these things, keep it and nourish it.

5. Take care of yourself. Loving yourself means taking care of your body and wellbeing. Always make sure that you're in top shape by exercising every day and eating healthy. Get rid of the things that can destroy you such as vices and unhealthy habits. Nourish your mind, body, and spirit. If you feel good about yourself, you will love yourself.

6. Do good unto others. As a person made in the image and likeness of God, we are capable of doing great and good things. And that is what we should be doing. When you do something good to others how does it feel? It feels good right? You feel great. Knowing that you have goodness in you that show through your actions will grant you self-worth. If you have self-worth then you are one step closer to loving yourself.

7. Express your love. When we love someone, we do our best to express it through means of thoughtfulness, gifts, and care. If you want to love yourself then do the same. Express to yourself that you love yourself. Look at the mirror and tell yourself that you are loved. Write down a list of things that you love about yourself. Post positive statements such as "I am beautiful," "I am smart," or "I'm lovable," on some places that you see every day. Pamper yourself or buy yourself gifts. Constantly remind yourself that you are loved.

Love is a wonderful thing and sharing love is even greater. But the truth is it's hard to share something that you do not have. In order to love others, you must love yourself first in abundance. When you are already overflowing with love then that's the time that you can share and exchange love with another.

"You must love yourself before you love another. By accepting yourself and fully being what you are, your simple presence can make others happy."

Do you love yourself? What do you do to love yourself? Share your thoughts by writing it below.

Jesus Asked, "Do You Want to Get Well?"

If you are or ever were a Christian, you might be familiar with the story of Jesus healing the man at the pool of Bethesda from the Bible (John, chapter 5). Bethesda was a holy place, a place of healing. It was a natural pool that had been set apart as a place of bathing, cleansing, and over the years, had become a place of tradition. The tradition was that when the waters were stirred, the next person to get into the pool would be healed of whatever ailed them.

People with many different complaints came to this healing pool. Daily, the area surrounding the pool was full of people waiting to be healed. Many of them came back day after day. First, they had to wait for the waters to be stirred. We're not sure how they got stirred - some said an angel came to stir the waters. Who knows? It could have been a breeze or an underground tremor that stirred it, or the intermittent bubbling of a hot spring. Nevertheless, the opportunities for healing were few, and the more able you were, the more likely you were to be the first one to hop in. Some, who were more disabled, were accompanied by others who could watch the pool for them and help them in.

One day, Jesus came by to check it out. Someone who was familiar with the crowd, who knew the individual cases who had waited for healing, some perhaps for years, recognized Jesus and was giving him the scoop. Perhaps the most devastating case he heard about that day was a man who had been disabled for 38 years. The implication is that he had been lying there next to that pool every day for a very long time.

Jesus looked at him and asked the man, "Do you want to get well?"

In response, the man replies - "I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me."

Let's think about this exchange. At first, Jesus' question seems a bit obvious. But Jesus is not known for rhetorical questions. He is asking the man a soul searching question here - do you really want to get well, or more to, "Do you have it in you to get well?" You see, he anticipated the man's answer.

One would think, after 38 years, this man would have simply shouted, "Yes! Yes! I want to get well." But he doesn't. He makes an excuse. Ahhhh. A bit of insight into his character. Jesus' question was, in fact, quite apt.

Ostensibly, the man did have help. He wouldn't have been allowed to just lie there, soiling himself, dehydrating, and starving to death. No, someone was looking after this man. Someone saw to it that he had a modicum of care, that he was at least fed, cleaned up - perhaps even moved to shelter at night. By day, he came (or was brought) to lie a little in the shade and beg and be fed. He could beg for food, but apparently, he couldn't (wouldn't) ask somebody to help him get into the water. Why? For one of three reasons: 1) he either didn't think it would really work for him, or 2) he was profiting somehow from his disability, or 3) he thought he didn't deserve it.

How do I know about the man's motives? Because Jesus didn't help him into the pool, he didn't lay hands on him, he told the man to get up and walk. The man did so. He ran off to show all his friends that he was healed, and somebody asked him who had healed him. He realized that he didn't know. So he went back to find out. Jesus was already gone by that time, so the guy kept looking. When he found him, did Jesus say to him, "Looking good, Jack. Glad you're doing so well?" No. Jesus said to him, "Stop sinning, or something worse may happen to you."

How much of a sinner could this guy be? He was sorely disabled, and spent his waking hours lying around the pool and begging. Probably not a killer, nor much of a womanizer. Likely he wasn't an out-and-out profaner of the sacred, nor a thief. He probably wasn't cheating anyone in his dealings, nor coveting his neighbor's wife or life. Well, he could have been doing the latter because this guy's sin was a sin of the mind. Probably not, though, because these kinds of thoughts are considered sinful because they lead to sinful acts. This guy wasn't doing anything.

More than likely, his crime was against himself. He would rather have his meager existence than figure out how to get well.

How many people do you know who are like that? How many take their disability or their pain or their illness and make it their badge and banner? Even if their doctor could heal them, they wouldn't be for the exact same reasons as the man at the pool. They are so spiritually, psychologically, and emotionally impoverished that they don't feel they deserve to be healed. Or they are getting much needed attention and sympathy. Or they simply don't believe it can happen to them.

I'm not talking about every ill person. I'm not implying that every illness is psychosomatic. I'm not even talking about those with a chronic illness which could have been prevented years ago but has been allowed to persist until it has completely wasted their body. I'm talking about those who prefer to feel sorry for themselves, or make excuses, instead of hearing what it might take to truly get well. What did it take for the man at the pool to get well? Simply to pick up his mat and walk. By the way, picking up his mat has some major implications as well, but maybe we'll go into that another time. For now, let it simply be seen as his willingness to do something for himself. But when Jesus saw him again, he warned him that unless he changed his mindset, that his healing would only be temporary.

Do you want to be well and happy? Then change something that will lead you to health and happiness. Sometimes it means changing an outward circumstance, but it always means changing an inner attitude, toward yourself first, and then toward others. Do you really want to be healed? Then figure out what is within you that is keeping you from doing so.

Do you want a rich life, or do you merely covet the life of others, feeling sorry for yourself, seeking sympathy, or acting out of jealousy instead of being proactive in your own life? Only you can make the necessary changes.

Be healed. Be filled with prosperity. Be rich. Live rich. Live life to its fullest. Be healed.

What Is the Source of Reiki?

The concept of energy may be unfamiliar even though civilizations around the world have known about it for thousands of years. The ancient Chinese developed energy disciplines such as Taiji and Qigong that involve moving meditation practices to harness inner energy and universal energy. Spiritual and healing disciplines such as Prana and Pranayama date back thousands of years in ancient India. Indian yogic practice involves control and movement of Prana or life force energy through the body. Similarly, ancient Tibetan monks practiced healing that some authors consider the original source of the modern system of Reiki.

Reiki can be referred to as natural energy, universal energy, cosmic energy or life force, among various other names. When we expand our awareness, consciousness and concepts of nature, the practice and principles of Reiki become superbly simple. I can try to explain a little bit about quantum physics and show that Reiki is consistent with quantum theory, if that helps a little bit.

The most intriguing thing that I find about quantum physics is that thought influences matter. All consciousness and all matter are connected in ways that baffle the imagination. Ample scientific experiments confirm that consciousness influences matter and that people can communicate through consciousness at a distance. Although the channel of communication has not yet been established, the results of communication prove that a transfer of information takes place. To the dismay of Einstein himself, the transfer of information takes place faster than the speed of light. Considering the essential oneness of the universe, instantaneous communication comes as no surprise.

Scientific research in the last hundred years has identified deep energy that exists within particles at the quantum level. Every thought, every feeling, all matter and all consciousness are forms of energy. The human mind has the power to control and direct this energy. Interestingly, this causes a challenge for physicists when they observe and measure quantum activity. The moment quantum activity is observed, it is influenced by consciousness. So, "purely objective science" has been proven to be totally impossible. Another weird thing that physicists have discovered is that atoms are almost completely empty. Atomic physics has shown that solid matter does not really exist. It's just our perception of solid substance that is generated in the mind.

Atoms are 99.9999999% empty space no matter how solid they may seem. I hate to tell you this, but this also means that all of the atoms that stick together to make you and me are pretty much empty. Understanding this phenomenon becomes important to the Reiki healer because we realize that we are not really healing a "body" as much as healing consciousness that seems to "inhabit" empty space. In The Tao of Physics, Fritjof Capra explains that "mass is nothing but a form of energy... and is no longer associated with a material substance and hence particles are not seen as consisting of any basic "stuff" but as bundles of energy."

During a Reiki healing session, energy is transferred from healer to patient. For example, by focusing on a patient who is experiencing sadness or guilt, Reiki balances and transforms negative, unhealthy life situations; this is what we call healing. This parallels findings in quantum physics that show how an observer of quantum physics always influences the outcome of the experiment. For example, if you look for particles, you'll find particles; but if you're looking for waves, you'll find waves.

In both Reiki and quantum physics, the mind, the thoughts, the compassion and intention of the practitioner influence the outcome of their pursuits. As Dean Radin explains, "in classical physics, objects are regarded as objectively real and independent of the observer. In the quantum world, this is no longer the case." Note that both allopathic medicine and classical physics exercise a similar obsession with objectivity. These approaches consider the patient or particle as an "object" to be treated or as an equation to be measured. In holistic healing approaches such as Reiki, the patient, healer and energy are perceived as a whole, working together for optimum results. Of course the healer influences the healing; of course the patient influences the healing. The universe will have it no other way!
