Health and Fitness, Vitamin A

Hello there,

Are you taking vitamins for granted? Do you know if your body is crying out for a particular vitamin?

Maybe it's time that you take a look at the different types of vitamins and the effect that the lack of anyone of them may have on the body.

To start with, let's have a closer look at vitamin A. We can also look at the source of this vitamin or find out from which foods it can be obtained.

Vitamin A deals with the growth, maturity and proper functioning of the body; both internally and externally. You may guess then, that it has a very important role to play in the in the diet of pregnant women and the development of children. This vitamin is also required throughout life.

Vitamin A is needed for the "epithelial tissue/cells." This tissue forms a major part in the body. It covers the lining of the internal and external surfaces of the body-the skin.

Besides providing an internal and external protective shield or covering for the body, the epithelial cells, produce mucus which keeps the nasal passages, lungs and intestines from drying.

Some other parts of the body involving the epithelial tissue are the interior of the mouth, the stomach and the membranes of the lungs and kidneys. Keep in mind that Vitamin A is required for the proper function of these body parts.

When there is a deficiency of vitamin A, the body system is unable to trigger off many vital activities. The nervous system begins to function poorly. Moreover, sterility may result; and the offspring born during this time, could be a poor specimen. By the way, some authorities on health say, that night blindness is a sign of the lack of Vitamin A.

Some sources of Vitamin A are:

Milk; butter; eggs; herring; and cod liver oil.

Carrots and fresh green vegetables are also sources of Vitamin A.

Of course, Vitamin A is only one of the vital requirements of the body system. However it is very important that we make every effort to take good care of our bodies in the light of what we really know about it.

The truth is, generally speaking, we do not know a lot about our bodies-even though research has enlightened and help us very much in the past and even in the present.

The body is a very complex human machine. But what is good for Harry, may not necessary be good for Jack- except in the cases of basic human requirements that is common to all.

It is easier and less expensive to pay attention to the needs of our bodies. We cannot allow its systems to break down and then try to effect repairs: prevention is still better than cure.

Nevertheless, in spite of our care, there may still be problems with the body for one reason or the other. But at least we will be able to rest comfortably in the fact, that we did what we could; and did not ignore nor neglect it when it asked us for help.

Indeed we have only one body and we need to treat it with the utmost respect and care.Remember our bodies are divinely created. Meanwhile, we can check and see if it's lacking in Vitamin A
