Are you taking care of your body or are you taking it for granted? Do you want to lose some weight or have more energy? Here is how to make it happen.
We have one life to live, one chance on this earth to enjoy so much. We think about our goals and dreams and what we want to do and what we want to accomplish.
However, have you given much thought to your body and how it operates? Did you know that your body functions on a delicate balance of chemicals, systems, teamwork and response to external factors and the environment?
Does this sound familiar? We tend to put whole lot of focus on this kind of stuff at work, yet are we paying enough attention to it when it comes to our own health and well-being?
Unfortunately we often take our bodies for granted while we get busy doing other things. Yet in order for us to do all of what we enjoy, it's crucial that we nurture the health and well-being of our body and make sure that it gets attention and regular maintenance.
At work we develop a weekly and daily "to do" list. I would like to suggest that we do the same for our bodies.
Here is a list of 10 daily "To Do's" for the well-being and balance of your body:
• Start your day with a good breakfast that includes a portion of protein, carbohydrate and dairy.
• Floss your teeth after every meal. Long term benefits may prevent a heart attack!
• Have a sense of humour and laugh at every opportunity. It will release your stress.
• Realize that each day may be interrupted by something unexpected. Go with the flow!
• Enjoy the people around you and appreciate the uniqueness in everyone.
• Take 15 minutes to meditate or think about nothing. Focus on your breathing and visualize your favourite scene. Recognize the beauty that surrounds you!
• Cook from scratch and avoid prepared foods. Home-made meals have less fat, sodium and other additives that could be harmful to your body.
• Have a glass of wine or a bottle of beer at dinner. It's good for your heart and wine is filled with anti-oxidants.
• Be aware of your meal portions and try not to go for a second helping.
• Exercise, exercise, exercise! I can't stress this enough. It only takes 20 - 30 minutes each day and is so important for your body's optimal function.
