Dancing can be very cleansing as it releases stagnant energies within the body. The emotional state is altered through physically moving the body with the beats and rhythms of the music. Dancing can lift depression as the body is flooded with endorphins. It's a natural high that dancing with a partner together can give. It not only is an emotional high, but it does also good socially. Going out social dancing equals to getting out of the house and meeting with new people who share the same interest, namely partner dancing. Studies have shown that animals, as well as, humans deprived from touch built a highly reduced number of neuron connection within their brain, therefore it's great to have people connect to you. Feeling connected is very important. If we lose our connection with other fellow human beings we are likely to miss out on valuable lessons in life. Learning from other people's mistakes, for example, can cost you many years of unnecessary work and hardship. So get out there, get physical and get social with dance.
Physically dancing does also wonder to the body's posture. The Ballroom dance styles such as Waltz, Bolero, Foxtrot, Quickstep, and Tango and not to forget the Viennese Waltz are just perfect for people developing poor postures. Those dance styles combined with attentive practice, persistence and some awareness can make the posture of any dancer lift taller through the strengthening and lengthening of numerous body parts. Dancers tend to straighten up and strengthen their backs; the legs, arms and chore of the body become well toned and what's more they built up muscle groups which gives them not only the capability to act fast but also perform controlled steps and movements. Dancing intentionally develops a well rounded body with enough muscles to burn fat quickly and constantly and even continues while sleeping. This in turn makes dancers feel strong and fit within their bodies. Dancing a variety of different partner dances in any of the Ballroom, Latin and Street Latin dance styles will develop body strength, body control, stamina, flexibility and dexterity. Learning to dance and using those skills on the dance floor has the benefit of being slimming, while giving you hours of fun.
So far emotional, mental as well as physical benefits of dancing have been mentioned, but what about the Soul? While dancing, the working world or any problems do not tend to occupy the mind. It nearly seams that they don't exist during those periods of learning to dance. Dancing can be seen as a meditation with all its benefits attached. Concentrating the mind on the partner's actions, for example, such as how to respond or learn how to move the body controlled and precise can be very fulfilling and uplifting. The music itself acts like a balm to the soul. There is something healing when being bathed in the wonderful tunes of the various music styles and rhythms. Dancing with the melodies and beats of the music can brings you into a state of euphoria when harmoniously combined. Finding this harmony between movement, beats and melody is not always easy at first, but the good news is that it can be learnt. You can experience it either by fluke subconsciously without knowing how to recreate or you can bring it into your conscious and be able to recreate it by will. A good dance instructor will help you on your way towards conscious awareness of your being and consequently to a state of excellent health throughout your whole being. Your Soul will thank you for it.
