Have you ever heard someone say "I think I can" as a response to an action to be taken? Why do we not say "I am going to try" instead? I believe people say that because they are not sure of their abilities and have a fear of failure. I wanted to know why failure is not an option. I wonder is it because we try to be more "invincible" verses society beating into us to "get it right the first time". If we look at some of the most successful people in any industry they all had significant failures, which probably caused them to question themselves. The difference is those individuals made changes and pushed forward. Nothing could stop them from the desire to achieve their goals. I am certain many friends and family members told them along the way that they were crazy or have lost their minds. Still others would say "give up" or "your wasting time on that" but their goals was theirs and no one else's and they were driven and determined to see it through.
What is stopping you? Is it the fear of not knowing what the end will bring? Are you concerned about what others around you will say? Well you will never know for certain what the end will bring. I would urge you to ignore what others say because they are not you. It comes down to setting goals and sticking to the goals. If you make them realistic and attainable you can probably see yourself at the finish line with both arms up in victory.
What do you think about failure? I often wonder if that same mental attitude is in place when it comes to personal goals like physical fitness. Often individuals go about their fitness journey on their own without the help of a trainer or coach. Although that is OK for someone who has worked out in the past, many people just do not know how to train themselves or disciple their minds to push a little farther. Each coach or personal trainer tries to tap into the "I can" in each trainee because they know the person "can" if they set their minds to the change. It is hidden behind our own self concepts, past experiences and personalities. Change is hard but perhaps that is the key that unlocks the possibilities and in the end leads to success. Either way if you try you are a success.
